What I was looking for: a lip stain with staying power for my wedding day. These are obviously viral at the moment and so I gave them a try!What I found: Okay let me preface this by saying I am white white. Like ghost white. Like turn into a lobster, doesn't have the gift of melanin, translucent white. Ergo, I was trying really hard not to go for the extremely pigmented colors. Yet, the only cooler toned stain available when I was looking was Darling. I took a look at the images and thought to myself, "I think I can pull that off. It shouldn't be too bright." Ooooo boy was I wrong. My first application I went with a full 60 seconds. Had my lips looking like they'd been painted neon peony pink. And the color didn't start to fade for a full 6 hours or so. Which is great staying power. I just wish that I hadn't been over confident on the application.When I apply the stain for 15 or so seconds it turns out like the photo attached. Still bright but not quite neon bright. And I can handle that for sure!Now the stain itself is not hydrating. You need to top it with some chapstick or a nice lip day mask. But it does have great pigmentation and staying power. I ordered a lighter shade to try out for my wedding.I think you'd probably want to reapply about 4 hours in to get a full 8 hour pigmented look. But I feel like that's great staying power personally. And it doesn't transfer to anything like most lip products do. Which is a huge win.Pros: highly pigmented (if you're translucent like me, don't be me, and shoot for a shorter first application), transfer proof, waterproof, quick application, does not come offCons: does not come off. So please don't try this right before a big event. Play with it first to get your timing down. Stains fingers, so no touchy touchy with bare fingers. Pro tip: place a paper towel or cleaning cloth under your lips before spraying with applicator (if you got the set). Use a cloth to wipe it off.

Okay so just for reference, I am a pale girl. We're talking the sun has not touched my genes in probably centuries and if the weather forecast says it's going to be sunny, I preemptively burn. So, I need a little bit of help if I don't want to look like the ghost of Christmas past. If I knew anything at all about make-up, I'd probably be a lipstick girl, but alas, I am absolutely useless at doing anything past a few basic techniques that I picked up from the wonderful world of youtube back in the day. I also tend to prefer a very natural sort of look for my own personal taste.I was very much influenced by social media on this one, and it's one of those cases where I'm glad I was influenced because I will end up keeping this in my makeup bag for years to come. I really don't wear or own lipstick, but this adds a nice pop of color to my lips that definitely brightens up my face. The stain itself is VERY subtle. It could pass for my lips but slightly more vibrant, which is exactly the look I am going for. If you are hoping for something more dramatic, you might want to look elsewhere.Do not believe the videos that show this peeling off. This isn't that kind of product. Swipe it on like a lipgloss - a heavier coating is better - and then let it sit for about a minute or so. I usually use a damp tissue to remove it and this works really well.A couple quick tips:1) Make sure your lips are nice and exfoliated. This is really true of anything that stains your lips, but just so you don't end up with sort of a weird patchy effect, make sure your lips are free of dead skin.2) Do this before you do any sort of foundation, unless you're an absolute wizard at wiping because otherwise you'll need to redo the makeup around your lips.Overall I think this is a nice option if you want something very subtle that will last for a reasonable amount of time. It's not an all day sort of product, at least not for me, but it does the job if I'm going out.

I choose not to have any social media so I happened to stumble upon this searching for a long lasting transfer proof and especially cruelty free lip stain. I don’t like to wear make up really other than black eye liner on my water line But as I’m getting older I want to add a touch of color to my lips. First things first-I cannot stress enough-exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate!!! I used one of those silicone handle with the little nubs on it. (If you have chapped lips at all, the stain is going to pick it up and make it extremely obvious. I feel as though the efficacy of the product in a lot of cases is likely the result of how well the individual truly exfoliate their lips) I tried it on around 5 o’clock last night I woke up this morning and it was still there! Slightly faded but not patchy, blotchy or smudged at all. Completely transfer proof, smudge proof, doesn’t feather or bleed, doesn’t taste or smell bad. I had dinner and drank a few bottles of water and it didn’t fade or budge. The color was true as advertised. I also absolutely love the fact that you feel that there is nothing on your lips. All I’ve worn on my lips over the last 20 years is Nivea Chapstick. Clear plain drugstore Nivea Chapstick. I don’t like heavy and/or sticky at all. This is neither. I was able to even use my Nivea Chapstick over the stain to keep my lips hydrated throughout the evening (and it gave my lips a nice shine) My only issue about it is there’s really not much product in the container, so you pay quite a bit of money for not much product but the longevity and deliverance of what’s advertised makes it worth it. I just ordered another neutral color. I love this lip stain!
