5.0 out of 5 stars Most interesting filter unit
I've been using this filter for a couple of weeks. I live in farm country and this year I had very serious allergies requiring serious medical intervention. This filter was an experiment to see if I could create a safe space to hide from the dust and other farm junk in the air. No surprise the filter works quite well. This is more than an anecdotal comment! The filter is smart and I can follow the air quality via cellphone. When the air is within cleanliness limits the fan silently runs circulating air, when it detects a rise in particulates it speeds up. It was interesting to note that it even detects when I'm cooking in the kitchen in the next room, it speeds up and displays the resultant rise in particulates on my phone. No, I wasn't burning anything nor could I detect smoke of any kind while cooking AND I have a range hood that exhausts outdoors. Pretty impressive IMHO. BTW, I can force the unit to run full fan speed and it's a bit noisy but it never seems to go that fast on auto. While I haven't had to replace the HEPA filter yet, I bought spares and the replacement procedure looks like a breeze,
5.0 out of 5 stars Very quiet and efficient
So far so good, I did quite a bit of research prior to making this purchase. Pros-Easy set up pretty much plug and play. Whisper quiet I rarely hear it on, which implies it does not need to use the highest fan setting to efficiently clean the air. I like the idea of a washable filter I have a Honeywell 50250-s and an AeroMax 290 that are about 6 years old. I needed ones for other rooms, so I added these which are rated higher according to Consumer reports than my older ones, these are Wi-Fi compatible with a smooth easy set up once you download the app, and you can control them with Alexa and Siri I think if that is a feature you like. The app is relatively simple as far as making adjustments, to LED brightness and fan speed. There are 4 speeds, auto and night mode. It gives you the filters status. You can set a schedule. Generally, if you put it in auto, it will adjust according to the rooms needs and the night mode which I really like because it is super quiet and it's relatively close to my bed, and it has minimal lights. I thought about the Winix 5500, but it was actually rated lower than this by a significant amount and while other reviewers recommended it over the more expensive Coway I thought this was a good meeting in the middle especially during prime day. The Winix runs around $132-$155 while the Coway runs a bit higher about $339 at the time of my review. For prime day this was $199 so your mileage may vary as it typically might price at about $280. As for a comparison with my older purifiers the AeroMax still performs well it requires 2 filters be replaced, while this one has a washable filter and a replacement filter, which are reasonable affordable. With purifiers the gift that keeps giving is the filter replacement. I hope to one day find an affordable washable filter that I never have to replace, but for the companies where is the fun in that. If you are looking for a highly rated air purifier this would be my choice. For a bedroom the large seems too large, but mine does not have to work as hard to clear the air. My Honeywell is totally manual, so it's outdated compared to these and it's pretty loud on its lowest setting so we run it on high at night downstairs, while we can easily run these all day and night without really noticing. My AeroMax is more automated and automatically adjusts for its changing environment and has an indicator light that adjusts according to the cleanliness of the air.
5.0 out of 5 stars Love my BlueAir Purifiers!
I have the large and medium purifier and love them both!! We were dealing with a mold issue in our home and purchased these to use until we could move to help reduce the load in our home. Further, I have noticed they change colors when I use my gas stove which reminds me to use the fan and open windows to ensure better air quality. When someone gets sick, I pop a purifier in their room. We live in an area prone to fires, and I love having these in my home to ensure we have great air. They are loud when they are on high, but they are like white noise. I think it would be perfect for a baby nursery. I keep this one in my hallway, outside the bedrooms and the large one in the kitchen/living area.
4.0 out of 5 stars BLUEAIR Air Purifiers for Large Rooms, Cleans 3,048 Sqft In One Hour,
I have purchased two of these and overall I like them. It was a little challenging to register the product. I first tried on their website which didn't work right but it allowed me on the app that I had downloaded onto my phone. The units work well and are fairly easy to set up. It works through the app as well as from the unit. Mostly I use the console on the unit if I want to change anything. It doesn't look difficult to change the filters. The inside one is a little pricey if you want the more hypoallergenic filter. However filters seen to last around six months. The controls are easy to use. The hardest thing was to adjust the dimming of the light which was a little tricky before I got it. It is not clear whether to run it on the automatic setting or use the fan for faster air exchange. I find the information offered not that detailed. I have taken to running in on the "2 fan blade" setting (low medium?). My only complaint is about running them on the two higher setting. In both one has a mild "buzzing sound that won't go away. And the other has a mild vibration such as fan bladed not being quite balanced. But since it doesn't really seem necessary to run at the higher speeds, it is not a big issue. At the lower setting it is quiet. Being large they are somewhat unwieldy to move around and as such I bought roller caddy's like for large plants which work well. Lastly
5.0 out of 5 stars Simple yet effective design
This purifier looks simple but it's very effective in cleaning the particles flowing in the air. All settings are at the top of the device and the entire white top portion is the instrument, where as the gray bottom part is the filter and nothing else. I like how I can control the device using my phone, but the app's functionality is limited to only a few options. There's a little green light at the top that indicates the room is clean. The irony is all my rooms are now showing green on the air purifier, and now I don't know what to do. Do I keep running the unit or stop now that my house is clear of all micro-particles.
It is sensitive to changes in air
Purchase May 4, 2024. At present it is in our dining room which is open to both our kitchen and living room. Today I made some black bean burgers and slightly burnt them. My clothing must have absorbed some of the cooking odours because as I walked across the room to the table and sat down I could hear the fan on the air purifier kick in to a higher speed. I turned to look and sure enough the numbers on the display were higher than usual. The purifier is set to, “Auto”. Another day, I was being silly and held my face close to the unit, took a big breath in then exhaled out and …the display numbers on the unit changed! So, it IS detecting stuff in the air and adjusting the fan speed as needed. I took off a star because the unit is awkward to move from room to room. A carry handle sure would be appreciated.
Great unit! I have 3 units in my home!
I must say that Blue Air's customer service outperforms many companies that I have dealt with over the years. I love the simplicity of operation of these units and the fact that the replacement filters aren't wildly expensive and they do last a long time. I have mine running on low all the time. I like that this unit shows me if the air quality drops (shows red) so that I can turn the unit up when necessary. My first unit was purchased durint the COVID outbreak and I have been running it ever since with no issues.
Send to work really well
Have it constantly running on 2nd level and have noticed less dust in the house in summer time when windows are usually open. I’ve also noticed that smells from cooking do not linger as long. I did buy during prime days when it was at a great sale price, so definitely happy with that.
Great product!
I am so glad I bought this air purifier, as I do notice the difference before and after I have installed it.I use it in my classroom (I own an after-school supplementary program working with school-aged children). My classroom has 400 kids, parents, and staff coming in and out weekly. I notice the air in my classroom is now very fresh consistency, whereas before I bought this air purifier, I felt that the air was musky and the air made my tired. Great product!
