5.0 out of 5 stars Surprised me!
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I was really doubting what these battery products could do versus my old gas powered equipment. Boy was I surprised! Well made, powerful, quiet and light...with no maintenance needed! Been so good to me, my neighbors are asking me where they can buy them. If you want more details, read below:The weed eater in this bundle is not the best due to its head being designed to use a ratcheting, self-advancing line setup. At first, I was going to return it because it would not feed properly and I had to untangle it regularly. Now that I have used it more, I understand how to make it work properly. You have to let the head come to a COMPLETE stop before revving it again to advance the line. When it slows down and is ready to advance the line, you'll hear it click, that's when you rev it. I rarely have to open it and untangle the line anymore. The mower and blower are both excellent! The mower is small but I have a small yard so its perfect for me. I would not recommend this bundle for a larger yard though, unless you buy many extra batteries. The bundle comes with one 40v and one 20v battery. GET ANOTHER 40V BATTERY! They are around $100ea but I promise, you will be mad if you don't have at least two 40v batteries. I have a small yard on about a 1/8 acre plot, I use up 1 & 1/2 40v batteries per mow. This includes using the battery for the mower, weed eater and blower. The 20v battery only works for about 30min max, its the emergency battery for me. For regular mowing, you will have no issues, the mower cuts surprisingly well for having a plastic blade. The mower is not the best in extremely overgrown areas, you will have to make a couple passes, that's true for my gas powered mower also btw. The blower is great and has a powerful motor, not one issue with it. I love it so much, I blow off my front and back porches almost daily now. I guess we all do become our dads eventually. All of that being said, I am so happy I made this switch. No more filling gas cans, mixing oil, or any maintenance of any kind. And not having to pull-start the equipment is a huge game changer! I just slap in a battery and get moving. Plus, this equipment is quiet! Want to mow at 2am? Nobody will notice, Karen nextdoor will be sound asleep and life is good. Also, the mower is light! You feel like you're pushing a kids toy but that makes things easier when you are maneuvering around things. If you've been on the fence about battery powered lawn equipment, try this setup, you will not be disappointed! Who cares what the neighbors think? Look them square in the eye, with pride, while they're still pulling and you're almost done mowing.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent replacement for a gas mower!
I was apprehensive about switching to a battery mower out of fear that it just wouldn't be powerful enough and/or the battery would die too soon. I did a ton of research and decided that Greenworks seemed like the 2nd best battery mower brand behind Ego, but by far the best bang-for-the-buck since Ego's cheapest mower is $449.I used this mower for the first time a couple days ago and boy did it do a great job at proving my fears wrong! It's extremely light which makes it very easy to maneuver, and it cuts impressively well, with no missed areas and a nice, uniform level to the grass. I have a few bumps in my yard where my old gas mower would kind of chop the top off the bump and I feared this new battery mower would stall or struggle with that, but it went over the bump as if it didn't make contact with anything. My old gas mower was a 21" model so I feared downsizing to this 16" model would create more work to cover the same area. While I do have to make a few more passes to make up for the decreased width, it's barely noticeable and now I can mow into some tight areas I couldn't get to with the old gas one. Between my front and back yards, I have what I would call a medium yard, and I was able to finish all the mowing and still had 2 out of 4 bars left on the battery. This made me feel great and gives me confidence that I can do some extra mowing/yard work if needed. As a guy/dad, this mower also checks a bunch of "cool gadget" boxes for me. Not only does it look cool and sleek with the design and black/green colors, but clicking that big 4ah battery into the slot and hearing the blade ramp up after pulling the handle just feels good, like it's some futuristic toy.I should also comment on the bagging. I exclusively collect grass clippings in the bag and this mower does an even better job at packing the bag full than my old gas mower. I was shocked when I checked the bag and found it was tightly packed to the top with clippings. My old gas mower would fill about 2/3 full, then it would start dumping the clippings back onto the blades, causing it to bog down.I figured I would buy into the whole greenworks 40v system so I also bought the string trimmer/blower combo and am pretty happy with those items as well, although the 2.0ah battery that comes with that combo kit does not last as long, but it works just long enough for me to trim and blow the debris. One final plus is the noise, or the lack of it. It's not silent, but I didn't have to wear any ear protection like I normally did with my gas mower, and my family could keep the windows open while I mowed, opening up more opportunities to do yard work, like in the mornings and evenings.I held onto my gas mower until I had a chance to see how this new battery mower performed. Now that I know, my old gas mower will be up for sale shortly!I'll update this review if anything changes, but for now I'd give this mower a 5 out of 5.
5.0 out of 5 stars Love this mower!
I have very steep hills in my front yard that I cant mow with a rider, so I purchased this and was very happy with how well it worked! It is on the smaller side, but it is so light weight and made mowing the hills very easy. The bag seems to fill up a little fast, but I didnt use it for the last half of the summer and there was not really a noticeable difference. The assembly was simple and I love that there are different settings for the grass height. The battery life is great as well. Love the design, quality, and durability of this mower. Great value for the money and I would certainly recommend!
4.0 out of 5 stars Good product
Works well, good battery, easy to use...very well designed...and good quality for the price.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great as long as red key is fully seated
Almost gave up on this mower because it would start and stop intermittently. Tech support was of no help. But I stumbled upon the red key next to the battery - it was as not fully seated, and since pushing it all the way in, the machine works like a charm! It's lightweight and cuts well. Maybe I would have gone with the wider deck (bought the 16") but it's really maneuverable and fun to use - no more dreading mowing the lawn. Make sure to read up on best charging practices for battery health.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent lawn mower!
I have had my Greenworks lawn mower for 2 years now and still love it!! It's lightweight, easy to push and maneuver around bushes, and has long-lasting batteries.
3.0 out of 5 stars Edger stopped working after one use.
Everything was working great. Pretty easy assembly. I mowed/edged the front & backyard and 2 weeks later I went to do again but now I can’t get the edger to work. Battery life is okay. I need to switch batteries to finish mowing the backyard. I don’t want to return the whole set so I guess I’m stuck with a broken edger. Did anyone else have that issue?
