5.0 out of 5 stars Good product for travel
After researching various monitors, I bought this one with the intention of monitoring baby while driving or out of the house. I had anxiety about positional asphyxiation in the car seat while I'm driving because I cannot see baby who is rear facing. I like this product because it has a Bluetooth "on the go" mode. I put the HALO band on baby, connect with my phone's Bluetooth, put my phone on my magnetic phone holder on the dash and then I am able to see live readings on baby's heart rate and temperature. I put my phone screen set to always on, and enjoy a more peaceful ride. In my area the winter is very cold, so I use a winter car seat cover. I like having the cover completely closed and keeping my phone out when I take baby out to various places. I know he is ok and I don't have to have the cover open.I see a lot of comments from users who purchased this product without understanding what is and isn't monitored, and what parameters actually issue an alert. This device will NOT alert you of heart rate drop/not found. It will alert you of roll-over and when baby is active. When my baby is old enough to roll over, I plan to use this in combination with my Owlet smart sock. Right now, knowing baby is alive in his bassinet while I sleep gives me confidence to sleep restful --if that is what you want, try the smart sock. If you are looking for a monitor to wake or alert you that baby's heart rate has dropped or not found, HALO is Not the monitor you want. If you want alerts to your phone when baby is moving (awake) or has rolled over, then this monitor can provide that. If you want a on-the-go monitor for use while walking, driving, out and about - this monitor is the only one I know of that will connect directly to your phone.I hope this review helps.
1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible product
This is by far the most unfriendly, horrible product for your baby. Not only the device, charging station are of not so great quality, but the app itself, buggy, outdated, confusing and useless. There’s NO alerts for temperature, the main reason I bought this device. So unless you will keep checking your app every hour, this device just going to be a tourniquet on your baby’s leg. The seller made it super hard to return this device too, I’m waiting for almost two weeks to get my refund back. And this company says it cares about you and your baby. Try calling them and see for yourself how rude they actually are. I would never buy anything from HALO.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good product, works as it should
My wife and I have been using the sleep sure for about a month now and I’ve enjoyed having it. As a first time parent, it gives me a lot of peace of mind to be able to pick my phone up and see that my child is ok, especially when she is so quiet when she sleeps. It saves me a trip out of bed to go check on her. We have some pretty inconsistent air conditioning and heat in our apartment which makes the temperature feature really helpful as well. The data seems accurate and the device is reliable. Only gripe with the device itself is that it goes on the middle of the calf and she kicks it off from time to time but not often. The only reason that I give it a 4 and not a 5 is the app itself. I think they could make it look a little better and I’d rather have the data grouped by night of sleep vs by day. It’s clunky when reviewing it when you have this break in it at midnight. I’m a graph guy and they don’t have a graphic by night of sleep like many of sleep apps, they just have a summary. The app itself is easy to use however I give it that.Overall I think the Sleepsure is a nice thing to have for the piece of mind alone, some improvements on the app and it will be better.
5.0 out of 5 stars Peace of Mind
Great product! Initially I was against using a sensor as a first time mom because I was worried it would be constantly checking the data and it would make my sleep deprivation worse. However, I find that I sleep better when my baby is wearing it because it truly gives me peace of mind. My baby is 3 months old and I know rolling over is just around the corner, so I can definitely rest easier knowing the SleepSure will notify me when she does. I’m also always concerned about her body temperature being too cold. I was always waking up in the night to check my baby to see if she was too cold and found myself bundling her just to be safe. The SleepSure actually informed me that she was running a little warm so we now dress her in a lighter tog pajama and she sleeps much more comfortably. I was also really pleased to find the alarm on the dock to to be loud enough to wake me up but not put me into a panic. The app is so user friendly and extremely easy to navigate. I really enjoy being able to compare her heart rate, skin temperature, movement and roll over statistics side by side to see how her overall night went. It’s also so helpful and easy to be able to calibrate each night that my baby is on her back without needing to constantly reposition the sensor.I highly recommend!
3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but could use improvements
This product for the most part was okay. I originally bought it mostly for temperature tracking, as I’m in Florida and worry about baby overheating. First off, I’m not sure how accurate the temperature reading is. Maybe my baby always runs warmer, but it seemed like no matter what I dressed her in with a swaddle (following safe sleep clothing recommendations), the temp always read on the high end of normal, when she didn’t feel warm or looked flushed. As others have said, there are no alerts for heart rate (I used a different sensor for this). My main complaint was the charging station. If the sensor was not on absolutely perfectly, it didn’t charge. There are alerts for rollover/on back which are nice, but when your baby is still young and not rolling yet these alerts can become VERY annoying when you are feeding baby. You have to remember to turn off notifications EVERY TIME for feedings, otherwise the base station will alert non-stop that the baby is not on their back until you either snooze or turn it off. Like I said, it’s a nice feature to have alerts for, but when you are feeding the baby and have to go turn off the base station in the other room every time, it’s extremely annoying. I did not like having to remember another step (turning off notifications in the app) prior for feedings.
