My 15-year-old daughter learned to do woodburning art quickly with this set. She made her teachers ornaments with the small wooden pieces that Bolo sells separately. The wooden pieces it comes with are a good size for most art pieces. I would recommend the purchase of heat gloves- the tool gets hot, as expected, and accidents happen. Great buy and well worth it! A fun hobby for kids and adults.

I bought this for my artistic daughter for her 11th birthday as I remember doing this as a child and she is really enjoying this kit. She has not used the wood that came with the set yet as she wants to keep practicing on scrap wood but it's easy enough to master with some practice. We had a little problem with the set and the seller resolved it very quickly so I would highly recommend.

I had a wood-burning pen as a kid and loved it, so I thought my 10-year-old would enjoy it as well. It works fine, but my criticisms are: The grip is too far away from the tip, making it harder to have accurate control, my daughter also complained that the grip was getting too hot after about 10 minutes of use--which, I will add, I don't remember my wood-burning pen having such a long metal piece at the front making it so much more possible to burn yourself, and my complaint is that it didn't come with anything to store all the pieces. There's nothing I dislike more than than having to keep like items together without some kind of case or bag that it stores in. we'll keep it, but it seems like wood-burning will have to be done in short spurts since the grip gets hot.
