I had very dark brown, nearly black hair before with lots of grays. I love my results but wish I had bought two boxes. I have fine waist length hair and could have used another bottle to really saturate the lengths. I thought I would be ok because my hair is pretty thin but even if you have thin hair, if your hair is longer than your shoulder blades I would get two boxes. This would be great for women with dark hair who want a change that isn't too crazy, purple hair that isn't too intense. The top portion of my hair got the most color pay off, probably since it got the most saturated and since I did that first, had more time to process than the rest of my hair. Some staining on scalp and around hairline but not too bad, keeping in mind I took no precautions against staining. Made sure to wipe down my shower afterwards, everything wiped off relatively easy and didn't stain my shower. It WILL look like a murder scene during the rinse, as usual with any red dye. It took a long time for the water to turn any kind of clear, when it would go clear I'd back out of the spray, and then when i went under again the water would be red again! I spent a good hour rinsing as much as I could. And when I got out reddish water drops were still rolling down my shoulders from my hair! So it will bleed a lot when it gets wet for the first few showers. The application process was easy and simple, just apply the serum to the ends, then squeeze the color tube into the developer bottle and shake it. In the bottle the dye looks orange, don't be alarmed by that. The gloves that came with the package are very cheap and both ripped while I was taking them off the paper. The stained hands typing this advise you to have your own gloves! I've never used a hair dye with a serum to protect your ends before, so that was a nice thought.I left on for 60 minutes after the initial application. They say to include the application time, but I didn't since in that case the ends of my hair would have been way behind the top of my hair. Didn't use a cover/bag for my hair. The end result is a VERY dark reddish-purple/burgundy for level 2-3 hair like mine. I actually think it made my hair darker! It looks great in good light conditions and the sun. Covered all my grays. I'm hoping it will fade to a little lighter overtime. Everything smelled good and the conditioner made my hair very soft and shiny. Doesn't feel damaged.Being a 1.8 dye, I didn't think it would have hydrogen peroxide/developer but it does, for anyone wishing to avoid that. But it's probably only a 10-15 vol.Next time I think I will buy a 3.0 shade in a similar color for a little more vibrant result. Pictures are my result after first shower, facing sunny window, and my before picture.
5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!! Just love this product line.
I was paying to get my hair done professionally for awhile, but decided to go back to doing my own hair. This product line is fabulous. I had about a 1/2" of regrowth with about 30-40% gray hair. I used this on clean hair as I have found that reds grab better to cleaner hair.I applied at the roots first and allowed it to process for 15 mins then applied to the remainder of the hair. I used a large comb to comb the product through from root to ends making sure my entire head of hair was saturated (avoid scraping your scalp). I allowed it to process another 30 minutes before rinsing. At this point I hopped into the shower bringing the included conditioner with me. I turned my water to Luke warm and rinsed. Once I felt it had been rinsed enough (red will never run clear not even at the salon) I used my redkin red hair shampoo and washed my hair. I rinsed all the shampoo out with cool water, squeezed out excess water and applied the conditioner. After 10 mins, I rinsed the conditioner out again using cool water. Squeeze out excess water and wrap your hair up.After all this I just blew it dry on low until it was about 75% dry. The darker areas are hair that is still wet.**For reference when considering this product**My Natural grow out level is a 5/6Already had a darker red base on ends level 5/6Hair is just above shoulders, fine, but I do have a lot of hair. Took 1 box to fully cover. I did NOT use the protection product as I had no dry/damaged ends.Don't freak out if it looks orange/copper at first, trust the process.GOOD LUCK:)
5.0 out of 5 stars 🏆🏆This product deserves awards🏆🏆
This is best hair color I’ve ever used. This colored over blonde tips where other brands didn’t and other brands quickly faded to pink. My hair actually looks and feels healthier. My hair is shinier, more manageable and I adore the rich color. The color on the box is the exact color I got which looks better than the box with time. I can’t give enough praise to this product for the hair confidence it gave me. I’ve already reordered and plan to wear this color from spring to winter this year. Thank you Schwartzkof you definitely got this right❤️

good but fades fast
5.0 out of 5 stars Great for both hair and ego
I have been using this hair color for several years now and really love it. I get at least one compliment on it almost every time I go out, often from total strangers. At 88, one usually doesn't get many compliments so I am grateful for that. Moreover, it has not damaged my hair at all; on the contrary I think it's helped. I gave it 5 stars - I'd give it more if I could. Please tell Schwarzkopf to please, please, please never stop making this color!
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
I had been wanting to go for a dark cherry kind of color for a long time and finally got the courage. I still have my dark hair like I like but now it has a beautiful red tone
5.0 out of 5 stars Love the color
I have used this hair color brand for years. This is one of my favorite shades. Love the color.
3.0 out of 5 stars Left my hair brittle
This was too harsh for my hair… too bad because I loved the color.
Worth Buying

I put Vaseline around my face, neck, ears, shoulders etc so that if I have a little accident the stain wipes off easier, no scrubbing involved. Also, if you wash it off in the shower, be careful because it will stain in there too. It also smells very strong of perfume. Other than that my hair turned out exactly as pictured and it’s all even. Not as harsh on your hair as other dyes.
Not as dark as the image on the box
It’s a very nice shade of red regardless, but the shade isn’t as dark as it is on the cover of the box so don’t let that fool you. But also don’t let it stop you from buying it either because you can just go over it with some black semi-permanent hair dye to make it as dark as you want like I did a few weeks after taking those pictures. Very nice red, but remember1) permanent box dye is bad for your hair2) permanent box dye is hard to get out (ESPECIALLY RED)
Excellent Coverage and Nice Colours
Bought Rich Caviar - was concerned about getting "Hot Roots" on my regrowth which is about 30-40 percent grey...not an issue at all. The colour is rich and accurate to what is on the box....overall very happy with it.
Average results
I have black asian hair that i never bleached , I put this on my hair about 40 mints aproximately , I was expecting a purpleor voilet shade instead of redish brown ... i guess this is okay too .. but not that great
Gorgeous Colour
This dye is a beautiful colour. It's got great dimension, even when it fades after time it fades to a nice burgundy. The initial colour is rich and vibrant and works great on dark brown hair. I usually am not satisfied with my hair after home dying it but this is perfect and I now use the subscribe and save to get it delivered every 8 weeks.
