We have been trying it out locally now and are very pleased. It's a good size for the car and easy to see and understand the voice directions. It's nice to have Garmin customer service if I ever need it.

I start this by saying I purchased a Garmin Drive 53. And it replaced my Garmin Nuvi 1450 which treated me well. It died a peaceful death.Not having a Gamin made me feel naked. I reviewed the inventory on Bolo. My first choice was the Garmin Drive Smart 66. It appeared there wasn’t anything it couldn’t do. I will comment about this later.The Garmin Drive 53 proved to be a real change from my old Nuvi 1450. I especially liked the navigation voice which was clear and precise. A real improvement. The new unit fit the dash exactly like the old one and everything just worked The suction cup didn’t need moisture. And the new one stuck to the windshield like it had been glued. A real improvement.The final words on this new Garmin are sterling. A great build and a great price. I recommend to download the owners manual annd take advantage of everything built into it. It's also available on the GPS.Now a comment on the Garmin Drive Smart 66 This was my first purchase because I was impressed with the many features. It took time to work through them. And then this popped up. A gray cloud strip covered a portion of the map. Not good. I returned the unit to the seller and Bolo applied the credit. Both operations were flawless. I now have experience operating a well built basic GPS vs a well built GPS with more features. Driving a vehicle requires your full attention. If you are able to talk on the phone, get a weather report, dial in music and maybe get the news, one must weigh these advantages in relationship to the attention needed on the road. Your call!

Been using Garmin GPS foryears. This is second unit I've purchased. Several new additions that makes this unit a bit harder to use than my older model. Others have said, and I agree that I'd like to have a larger map. My older similar size unit did have a larger map. The display was you get near streets and they are named in a header across the top is very convenient. The holder that is intended to be attached to the windshield is, in my opinion, rather useless. Mine fell off 3 times unable to hold the unit. I tossed away and used my old bean bag type garmin holder with the ball and socket mechanism. It may slide some on the dash but at least it doesn't fall

DO NOT TRUST GARMIN NAVIGATION DIRECTIONS! It will lead you to wrong places. The navigation on the device is defective. YES, I have checked and experimented with the navigation settings to no avail. I've used this for a few months now. Many times when following the route from the Garmin gps drive 53, it will say to turn on non-existing, closed, abandoned roads and atv/utv trails, etc. or it will take your ride to nowhere. What good is a GPS navigation device if it gives directions to turn on roads that do not exist or not accessible by a vehicle. Also, invalid alerts popup such as a non existent cross-walk on a 4 lane highway in a remote area. Seems they're many software bugs to work out on this device. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

I do not like using a phone to navigate. My old Garmin stopped working so I replaced it with The Garmin Drive 53.It was easy to set up, Great keyboard and I love the spoken directions as I do not have to look at the screen At all, so eyes always on the road.
