5.0 out of 5 stars This could be a life saver in an emergency
Large size, great quality and price… that says it all.
5.0 out of 5 stars A much safer way to extinguish a stove top cooking oil Fire
I like that the blanket does not expire and need recharging like fire extinguishers and is so much softer to use on some fires. My gran was cooking in a nonstick pan that caught fire. My partner grabbed a fire extinguisher blew blew all the hot burning oil out of the nonstick pan and onto the stove top, wall, and counter. I bought this blanket as I prefer to smother a fire after that. I keep it on a hook in my pantry where it can be grabbed fast.. I like the size of it I did not want a smaller one. I have not used one yet, I was taught years ago to smother this kind of a fire if you can do so safely
5.0 out of 5 stars Great value
Excellent product put in all of our first aid kits and some in our cars.
5.0 out of 5 stars easy to use
loved the size, easy to pack
5.0 out of 5 stars Huge and durable
As you can see from the photos, these mylar "space" blankets are huge compared to the standard size. The first image is a standard one folded in half lengthwise across a queen-sized bed. The second is one of these Swiss Safe blankets, also folded in half lengthwise, across the same bed. There's no comparison. They're also a lot more durable than the standard ones and don't seem to tear as easily.I always keep some of these in my camper, and they saved my butt one night when I ran low on propane while at a remote park. It got down to 25F -- quite cold for the southeastern US -- and to keep warm overnight I used masking tape and some of these space blankets (folded double) to cover my windows and prevent heat loss. Running a small space heater kept my sleeping area at a toasty 66F all night long (it could have been warmer, but I prefer a cooler room for sleeping).I also keep one wrapped around my aerogarden in the winter as a sort of low-rent greenhouse, and it works like a charm for that, too. There's no end of uses for mylar blankets, and these are the biggest and best I've ever had, hands down.
5.0 out of 5 stars Feeling More Secure Already
I am an elderly widow living in the northeast, and winter will soon be making its annual appearance. This year, colder temperatures and heavy precipitation are expected. Hopefully, there will not be any power outages, but they certainly can happen and have happened in my area. If this does occur, I will need some extra help. Yes, I have warm blankets and coats and such, but I have, nevertheless, been concerned about loss of heat. My blankets and coats do not seem to hold heat. When I saw these little emergency blankets, I felt that they could solve my problem. Frankly, I feel better just knowing that I have them. I did not order a large supply. I simply got a package of four of these small but efficient blankets. My crowded linen closet is not impacted by these due to their small footprint, and I am also keeping one inside my car's glove compartment. For anyone living in a cold climate, something like this is essential. They are not thick, but they seem sturdy, are not easily torn, and are efficient at holding in warmth. My Swiss Safe XL Emergency Blankets arrived in a small, sealed zipped plastic bag. Each blanket was folded and wrapped in its own zipped plastic bag. The blankets are small enough to be carried in a pocket or purse or stored almost anywhere. They are non-toxic and can be reused.I am happy to recommend these blankets to anyone in search of camping equipment or as a valuable addition to emergency supplies. Experience tells me that outages can last quite a while. I have first-hand knowledge when losing power during the warmer months. That was uncomfortable, but winter outages can prove fatal. I am happy to have come across these.
5.0 out of 5 stars XL size makes these more practical
These Mylar emergency blankets are good quality and a small investment to have in any vehicle in wintertime. The larger packages mean you can put enough for the whole family or a carload of passengers (4-6) in each vehicle, just in case you happen to get stuck in a blizzard sometime and it takes help a while to get to you.For camping or survival, the large size of these Mylar "space blankets" makes them practical if you ever actually try to use one to sleep. While they are re-foldable and reusable it is probably better to consider them a 'one use' or 'one trip' item and just plan on replacing one that has been used.
