Package didn’t come with screws and the base of the bed is 1/2 and inch too wide to secure in the headboard grooves.

This is not a $45 piece of furniture. The pieces don’t fit together like they’re supposed to and there is a fine layer of white dust on everything. It is basically balsa wood: the side pieces are missing matching screw holes but the wood is so soft that you can hand turn a screwdriver to put it together. Also, since the pieces do not line up correctly, I had to try and gently tap with a hammer. As a result, I now have one cracked side. I don’t recommend this bed.
