    These hex nipples are much easier to install and remove than a standard "close" nipple. I can put a wrench on there and not damamge the threads as with a "close" nipple. Plus this hex nipple is a little thicker and stronger than a brass or even a galvanized fitting. These are worth the little bit of extra money.

    Wont know if it leaks until water pressure is applied. new construction will take a bit to see if it does. My guess is it will leak because the connector bottomed out on hex head before threaded area bottomed out on gasket or was tight.

    You need a lot of force to seal these and lots of Teflon tapes. I used 13-15 rounds of tape, and I still could not seal them with my 10” wrench. Had to go to store to get a 14” wrench to be able to rotate them more inside. Thanks for reading, and YMMV.
