5.0 out of 5 stars i like it
after coming down from a higher end preamp and amp that was much louder and much older, it was very easy to setup with just answering a few questions on the tv. it uses a sound test to balance all the speakers your using. it handles lower volumes perfect in a theatre setting. it recommends using your powered sub at 30%. you can jack it up if you wanna thump but im getting older and i enjoy this type of setup more now. very nice item, easy to use, love it
5.0 out of 5 stars Feature Rich. Future Proof. But Pricey.
For a number of reasons, I decided I needed a new AV Receiver. My primary motivation was to move from 5.1 to 7.1 and up. I wanted something that already had the established standards and would be 8k ready. To get all of that , I read the reviews and it came down to Denon or Onkyo (yes I know there are even pricier and more esoteric products). This one had ample 8k HDMI (2.1 connections), several optical / coax digital inputs, phono input, sub outs, on screen display, and speaker calibration (Audyssey mic included). It has discrete line level inputs but no composite video. Yes, it includes all the variations for Dolby (Vision, Atmos, etc), DTS (X, etc), DIRAC compatible, compatible audio streaming services, etc. Check out the specs at one of the online services. The setup was a breeze with TV/onscreen prompts for general setup as well a room / speaker tuning. The remote is ok, sleak and well laid out. I ran the tuning setup for my 5.1 and will add 2 more speakers and rerun in the next week I think the calibration process is easy enough, but be sure to follow the prompts on screen about where and how far away to place the testing/calibration mic. It does have a manual calibration/tuning process, so if you know what you want already, just jump to that menu section.I'll note that I had this in my cart for a week trying to decide to buy, and then 2 days before Bolo's big sale event it went on sale ($200 off), but on the event day (July 10-11) it went back up! Kinda disappointed in that. Luckily, I got it when it first went on sale.Bottom Line: Do you research - be sure if you really need all the bells and whistles and the associated price, and if you want to jump ahead a bit and get the current cutting edge standards. These things seem to change every few years. One thing to note, the unit does have an "eco" mode (not sure how that works exactly) but it runs Warm and produces a fair amount of heat overall.
5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome
Fantastic quality both is the hardware and output. Easy to set up and connect to Bluetooth devices. The app is also great, easy to navigate and gives several options for adjusting sound quality. If anyone is considering between this and another brand, we'll don't waste your time with anything else. The Denin AVR can be paired with a second unit to have a multi-room or whole house experience. I'd buy another in a heart beat.
5.0 out of 5 stars First unit was defective, second worked perfectly.
I had been excited for weeks anticipating upgrading to this receiver from Denon’s AVR-S570BT, but it was dysfunctional on arrival, repeatedly entering protection mode after operating for a few minutes and thereby being completely unusable.UPDATE:I decided to take a chance, purchasing a second unit after returning the first defective unit, and it works perfectly without issue so far. I’ve updated my rating accordingly, and am relatively forgiving of what may have been a matter of an issue slipping past quality control because I was refunded for my first purchase in full.I will update this review should my sentiment change.
1.0 out of 5 stars This equipment doesn’t work! Do NOT buy
This is my second Denon 3800 this year. Don’t know why I got this second one. Both constantly go into speaker protect mode and stop working. I have reset and reset and spend a lot of time on the phone with their tech help.Just missed the return window as I was on vacation. Now I am stuck with the expensive and useless piece of junk.My first one is going to a warranty repair for the same reason. Speaker protection mode constantly shuts the receiver off. Have to ship it, as repair facility is 2 hours from my home. Have no confidence it will be repaired.I have had 1/2 dozen avr’s in my day and set up numerous systems. This model is a complete failure
3.0 out of 5 stars Does most of what it says.
Not all the buttons on the remote work, but we just push the main unit buttons and all is good. Sound is good for my 7.2.4 system.
5.0 out of 5 stars Did I get a misprint? Lol
Either I caught this on sale...and I never catch anything on sale...or I managed to finagle it for $700 less.Worth every penny of that. At $1699, your options are expanded tremendously, and unless you're a diehard Denon fan, there are Onkyo and Marantz in that range that are going to be significantly more betterer...yes, I am aware...than this Denon. The amount of connectivity (truly a 7.4.4 without needing a separate amplifier) is mind blowing. It's nice to have multiple 4k/120hz inputs without the need for a splitter. If you have a large space: 4 sub preout... whaaaaat. I have a decent sized den/mancave, and dual Klipsch R121SW shake everything...at 50% volume with no LFE boost. (Be warned: after expanding the subs beyond 1, you will have to play around with speaker placement and phase so as not to cancel out sound waves)It gets warm. Enclosed spaces may? shorten it's lifespan. As you can see from my included picture, I removed a shelf and stealthing panel to allow ot to breather easier. Also: it was brand new. Still had everything wrapped in plastic and had that lovely new electronics smell.Yes. You can use banana plugs.Keep an eye out. It might show up sub $1k again.
5.0 out of 5 stars It’s the best .
I never imagined how great the product would be. It helps to make the settings in a simple and professional way. The sound is currently crystal clear. I was impressed. I recommend it to everyone.the quality is amazing easy volume control .the functionality it not complicated and a price? It’s expensive but the value is great
Great price and easy set up.
Replaced a 15 year old denon AVR that needed professional installation. This one has an easy DIY install setup for speakers, universal remote, TV etc. works great.
Great performance
Lovely product...Heat sink is getting hot after half an hour...thankfully not towards damage.... Extra fan is needed.......to maintain temperature...
Produto muito bom
Comprei o que eu queria e precisava , o único problema que eu acho que é normal desses RECIEVER atuais é que esquenta muito mas já coloquei um exaustor em cima e parece que esse problema já está resolvido 👍👍
