5.0 out of 5 stars A Game Changer for My Anxious dog - Highly Effective!
I recently started giving my dog Hemp Calming Chews, and the difference has been incredible! My dog tends to get very anxious during thunderstorms and when we have guests over, so I’ve been looking for a natural way to help him stay calm. These chews have been exactly what we needed. The first thing I noticed is that my dog loves the taste. He’s usually pretty picky, but he takes these chews without any hesitation, which makes it super easy to give him his “calm-down treats” as we like to call them. The ingredients, including hemp, valerian root, and chamomile, are all natural and specifically chosen for their calming properties, which I really appreciate.Within about 30 minutes of taking the chews, I can see a noticeable difference in his behavior. He’s much more relaxed and less prone to barking or pacing around the house. It’s made a huge difference during stressful situations like fireworks or when we have company over. The best part is that they don’t make him drowsy or lethargic—he’s still his playful self, just calmer.Another big plus is that these chews are easy on his stomach. He has a sensitive digestive system, but we haven’t had any issues with these treats. They’re also made with high-quality ingredients, which gives me peace of mind knowing that I’m giving my dog something safe and healthy.Overall, I highly recommend them for any dog that struggles with anxiety or stress. They’re effective and easy to administer. These have become a must-have in our home!
4.0 out of 5 stars Stinky but work
We have a 37 lb golden doodle that has more energy than she knows what to do with. While the dosage recommended is two chews, three are perfect for her. Two and she was still high strung, three she calmed down and we can keep her from jumping in guests. We tried 4 and she behaved as if in speed. All dogs respond differently; this one worked for us. Price is similar or lower than others in the market. Be sure to compare ingredients. Calming chews are comprised of natural ingredients. Will be buying them again! Oh yes- they have a terrible smell but so does dog doo. It comes with the territory!!
5.0 out of 5 stars Good supplement if you only need treatment for 1 or 2 dogs.
First, I have 5 rescue dogs sizes 5 lbs to 140 lbs. Like human children every dog's personality is different. I have 2 that are extremely scared of loud noises-thunder, fireworks etc. and 1 that is scared of the world as a whole, so that was the reason for my purchased. What I have learned for my pups is these chews work best as a maintenance supplement. I notice if give them daily they work well for general anxiety issues. However, for unusually high stressful days (stormy weather, extended absences) I give them an extra dose. I have also notice it has increased their appetite a bit. I originally attempted to use these as an "as needed" supplement but I did not get nearly as good results. Also, my 5 lb dog it worked opposite, she was bouncing off the walls. I tried her on them 2 twice; 1st a whole one, 2nd time a half of one and same results both time so, needless to say she does not get them any more :). My CON is the $70 cost involved to being a daily supplement of 3 dogs all over 50+ pounds.
1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't work for our dog
These hemp calming chews didn't work for our dog. He wasn't crazy about the taste, and he threw up. Tried 3 separate times, and just threw them out. Were disappointed, but the dog seemed happy they were gone.
3.0 out of 5 stars I think they changed the flavor, now my dog won't touch them.
I bought these 3 times and have given them to my dog who is almost 1 year old and my mom's dog who is about 13 years old. They definitely work, but I generally find I have to give my dog 1 more chew than suggested on the label for them to work. It definitely calms him down and when he was a baby it helped him sleep through the night without crying or having any accidents which was a god send. They also kept him much calmer during car rides and going to high stimulus places like the vet and obedience classes. My mom's dog is a senior with achy joints and they also seemed to soothe her during times when she just couldn't get comfortable and would be grumpy because of it.I could tell they were not their favorite flavor. My dog would do that thing where he would kind of spit it out or set it down and look at me like, "Got anything else? No? Ok... I guess I'll eat this..." but he DID eat them. It was the same with my mom's dog, you can tell they weren't her favorite but she would eventually eat them. But as soon as a bought the third jar and tried to give them to the dogs, they both would spit them out like they were the most disgusting thing on earth. They would even wrinkle up their noses like they tasted something really offensive. They had the safety seal on them, looked perfectly normal, felt fresh, and smelled the same so I don't think they were tampered with or went bad or anything like that. But suddenly both dogs went from "not my favorite" to refusing to eat them under any circumstances. That's saying a lot because my dog is a billy goat and I've literally had to stop him from eating plastic, garbage, bottle caps, cigarette butts, a kitchen sponge, feathers, vinegar tablets, etc. If they'd rather eat vinegar and a sponge than this "treat", it's got to be really bad. Even when I cover them in cheese whiz, wrap them in deli meat, stuff them into other treats, etc. they will find a way to pick it out or if they can't, they refuse to eat any part of it.Because the change was so drastic and suddenly appeared as soon as I gave them treats from the the third jar, I think they changed them somehow. Considering how expensive calming treats are and how frustrating it can be when they don't work or the dog refuses to eat them, it feels like a huge waste of money. Before these, I was buying a much more expensive brand that the dogs seemed to enjoy the taste of and were just as effective, so I guess I'll go back to those. I was hoping to save a bit of money, but I ended up wasting money instead. I didn't give it 1 star because they were good enough at one point but it is still disappointing.
5.0 out of 5 stars Love these!
I have a cane corso with separation anxiety. When I leave he paces, barks, whines, and resorts to destroying the house. I give him three of these and he is the goodest boy ever! Sits, lays down, is very calm and no longer destroys my things. Highly recommend and will be buying again!
