I hesitated to buy these pencils for months because of the negative reviews but a very reasonable price for a trustworthy brand eventually convinced me to take a chance and I’m glad I did. Consistent with the reputation of the Staedtler brand name, they are excellent quality pencils that perform very well. The color selection is lovely and varied, the pencils keep a sharp point, are great for fine lines and small details, sharpen well, and provide a smooth application. Last but most important, the Staedtler customer service is outstanding. They demonstrate that they value their customers through clear and steadfast actions. Regrettably, I cannot say that about Bolo. After extensive experience indulging in an embarrassing amount of colored pencil set purchases from professional artist quality to hobby brands, I have learned that the problems regarding colored pencil damage with quality brand names is due to Bolo’s negligence in shipping these fragile and breakable items in thin plastic bags even after numerous repeated requests to pack and ship appropriately. It is interesting to note that I ordered a set of 24 count Bolo colored pencils for $2.99 and they arrived triple wrapped in bubble wrap, packed in a thick strong protective carton and shipped in a carton with some paper as a cushion. Contrarily, every other set of colored pencil sets I receive, including Caran d’ Ache, Prismacolor, Derwent, Faber-Castell and all others are shipped in thin plastic envelopes.

I’ve been using a box of mismatched colored pencils for years and decided to get a whole new set. I really like the Staedtler ones I had so ordered these. They have the same triangular shape but the ones I wanted are soft (on the outside) and the wood seems to be different. They work pretty well though and as you can see offer a ton of shades. They do erase better than other pencils.Update: A pretty big negative for me is I noticed every pencil is stamped with the same number - I think 1278 - and no color name. There’s no way to keep track of colors you’ve used or like - what is the point of every pencil having the same number? Also a few have had the whole too come off when sharpening. Still pretty good colored pencils.

i love staedtler just for this reason. their products are always on point and these colored pencils are no different. the leads are amazingly thick and i was a bit concerned about them breaking during shipment but they stayed intact. they’re also easy to sharpen and use. i personally like them more than prismacolor as staedtler has a more pencilly feel while prismacolor is trickier to use and feels more like oil pastels. the price for the 70 pack was also amazing. i saw these same pencils for about $50 at most craft stores while i got these on Bolo for $15. these pencils are super versatile and affordable and are easy to use and blend. i love them

I like this brand and own a lot of their drawing and coloring products. The only issues I had are that there is a strong smell of paint when you open the lid. Also, the trays need to be easier to access the different levels as when you try to use your finger you cannot pull up the trays without unseating the pencils. So it would be nice if the trays were a little deeper and easier to lift. Also, the name of the color is not printed on the individual pencils which would also be nice.The colors lay down just fine with little ease. The colors are buildable as well. Overall a good product and a trusted brand for me.

These are good pencils at a good price point. They are very blendable and easy to layer. The only thing I didn't like is that there are no color names or color numbers on the pencils

Great colouring pencils
I've used these pencils since high school and had to buy a new set. The sops near me were either not carrying this product or were selling it for a higher price. So glad with my purchase!

Better than I expected..
I knew these were a student grade set but they were on a Christmas sale for 11$ so I gave it a go. Plus it's Staedtler. There's decent color options, have that classic triangle barrel so they don't roll away.. depending on the type of sharpener, the leads can fracture & break. I used an electric sharpener & they broke over & over again. So I switched to a high end metal hand sharpener. Go slowly & be gentle. Looking at your art later, some wax blooming could have occurred. Use a tissue to gently rub the wax bloom off, should be good. I wouldn't recommend for kids, these need gentle sharpening & no dropping on the floor to avoid cracked cores.
