5.0 out of 5 stars Sports book
Great for my football fanatic grandson. He is enjoying it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Very Inspirational
This book is perfect for anyone who has a passion for football and football history. The author's love of the game really shines through. Even if you don't like football in particular, this is a great book to cultivate an affinity for it.
3.0 out of 5 stars The stories are generally interesting
Unfortunately the editing and error checking were weak. I’m not bothered by a few errors or typos, but it really became a distraction on most of the stories.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good book for youth
Son likes to pick it up when he needs a pick me up when he has a bad day on the field
1.0 out of 5 stars This is a terrible book.
It is poorly written and edited. Words in the wrong place and sentences repeated. And he is wrong in many instances. He has linebackers playing on offense. And if you are any kind of a sports fan at all you would already know much of the contents.
2.0 out of 5 stars Extremely poor editing
The premise of the book is great, and I really enjoyed the baseball one. But wow the editing is abysmal in this one. Sentences repeated. Sections missing when describing a game somehow the losing team won but the author forgot to mention how.Describing Vince Wilfork as the Jet's DT but tackling Mark Sanchez the Jets QB, saying the first Super Bowl was played in the 1950s, describing the ice bowl as the coldest NBA game, etc. There was obviously no proofreading done. To the point of being distracting.
5.0 out of 5 stars This a Collection of Great Games and Great Players
Many of the games included in this book, I actually saw and greatly enjoyed. My favorite game was the Ice Bowl in which Coach Lombardi’s Green Bay Packers beat Coach Landry’s Dallas Cowboys in Green Bay, Wisconsin which was the Coldest Game ever played in the NFL. There are other great games and players, so I recommend that you check this book out.
5.0 out of 5 stars FUN BOOK FOR EVERY FOOTBALL FAN AND FOOTBALL HISTORY
Roy Lingster has put together a fun and easy read about some of the great moments in football, NFL records, Strikes, Record Setting games and more.If you are a football, fan you most likely know many of these moments, but for some of us, like myself, who spent years in TV Sports Production and covered a host of playoff games, Super Bowls and more, it spurs some memories mentioned and some not. Like 1984, a record setting year for the league…BUT…if you lived or worked in Baltimore that winter, all you can remember is the moving vans pulling out of town headed to INDY with our team. AND, even though I spent a lifetime working with TV Sports Production, I did not know the details of the FIRST game televised. Just TWO Cameras, an Eight man crew. One on the field, one high, no truck, no trailers, just a fuzzy black and white broadcast over 80 years ago. NO lights, so when the sun went down…so did the game…back to radio! Amazing!!…80 years is not that long to progress to where we are today. The last Super Bowl I worked camera, there was a crew of over 400 people and close to 60 cameras!...So much FUN to go back and read the stories that Lingster has put together…A MUST read for the die-hard football or any sports fan. The book is a gift to any football fan who wants to know “HOW WE GOT HERE” today.Cliff YearginAtlanta GA
