5.0 out of 5 stars This is all you need to know. Bare Bones.

Im on to my second can of Bare Bones now so it has been a while and i can now leave a legitimate review… so for starters i will list off the points im going to hit here, Strength, Ease of use, How long it holds, Smell, and over all look. So i am a fireman and ive been able to wear this wax through brush fire, structure fire, and car fire (high heat-low heat) in masks and in water and this stuff HOLDS and holds well. I do wear it as a handle bar and this wax hasnt pilled up or thinned out through the heat or water… the hold to bare bones is great and keeps its position without worry, sometimes i have to put it back into its position (the stache) after mask ups pr removal of coats ect… but thats expected. Sent… it smells natural and i actually like it. For the people that complain about the sent dont really get the point of no added chemicals or dyes. My facial hair is happier and it seems to take to the wax so much better over time. Its pretty easy to get out of the can with the provided pick and the warmth of my fingers soften it up enough to apply. This stuff seriously rocks and youll be hard pressed to find anything better. Ive tried other stuff and wasnt as impressed. As pf getting it out i dont use their wax remover (im sure its great) i use man made wash and it comes right out. Love this stuff!

Finally ran out of my 3 cans of Death Grip, by Vintage Grooming. A wax I am thoroughly impressed by and use every day.I was invited to purchase Bone Crusher on an early batch but still had a mountain of Death Grip and did not need another tin in my supplies. That said; I would have bought 2 had I known just how great the latest offering from Vintage Grooming is.I ordered a can, and was rather excited.I absolutely love the packaging and branding from Vintage Grooming. I own a tee shirt and their stickers decorate my work shop. And I find uses for the tins. And the guitar picks are a little extra detail that really make their wax stand out.So I couldn't wait to see the latest art featured on the Bone Crusher.I was not disappointed. The art is phenomenal and unique. But Art doesn't make the wax.The price is right in line with their other waxes. It won't break the bank and your money will go far. And it's money well spent.Opening my Bone Crusher; very easy.I've had trouble with Death Grip. Once the wax gets on the threads, there are times I need channel locks to break that sucker open. I have yet to see if BC gooks up the threads in a similar fashion. But so far, it has not been an issue. To solve the DG unthreading problem, I simply do not engage the lid fully. I don't have to apply it more than once a day, and therefore have no need to carry it with me. And no need to seal it.This is a first world problem and does not take away from DG which I rate 5 stars.Bone Crusher is not as sticky. It is a tough wax. Rock hard in the can. A hairdryer is absolutely required.Thankfully, the residue doesn't cling to the hairdryer or the plug.I've had Death Grip on just about every item in my house at one point or another. Not so much with Bone Crusher. It has a manly smell. Not flowery or perfumed. That's not to say it smells bad.It is a pleasant scent and appropriate for a mans stache. It smells fresh and clean. Just not overpowering.Heating it up with a hairdryer on high heat. It takes much longer than DG. Stays liquid for a very brief time and is dry by the time it gets to the stache. Therefore more heat is needed. It goes in wonderfully smooth. It doesn't clump or clot. My stache doesn't separate into multiple strands. And therefore the wax just coats everything evenly and requires very little. And that little will go a long way. A few dips in the liquid wax on each side. A few strokes. Some pinches and smoothing. A few tweaks to shape it.In spite of a longer heat time. It takes less time to shape and form and get a good even coat than with DG.My stache looks natural and full. It doesn't look like I've got any product in. And it remains in shape, all day.I have a large mustache and I'm not using much BC at all.Shaping my stache into a proper and finely sculpted Handlebar is a breeze and less messy.I work in a forge with hot sparks and high temperatures. Welding and grinding and a lot of fumes and smoke. The BC holds up 100%It was the same shape when I left the house and the same shape after 10 hours of work.In fact, it only relaxes after I soap up and leave it in for most of my shower. And to my satisfaction, my mustache seems to be healthier since I started using BC.I'll still buy DG. But my new primary wax is definitely Bone Crusher. If you need a solid, extra strong hold wax, then Id definitely recommend it. You won't be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works great, but I don't like the smell

    C. · July 18, 2024

This stuff is tacky and sticky and waxy all at the same time. It works almost too well ;). The only issue I have is the smell is like an old shoe. I may have chosen the wrong scent. Not sure. I have a handlebar mustache and it holds it in place and is still moldable. Hard to wash it off your hands after applying it, especially if you use a blow dryer on it to melt it a bit to make it more pliable. Love the stuff, hate the smell.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Hold compared to my previously used products

    J.R. · September 19, 2024

Let me say upfront that I don't have a great deal of experience with mustache wax but here's my review. I had started with the Goodline wax in the tube from CVS. While it didn't hold great, it was easy to apply but worked so-so. I next bought a tin of Reuzel mustache wax. This one was a little better with a nice fragrance, but at least in my case, didn't hold the stray hairs for long.Which brings us to this product, Sudden Death mustache wax. This stuff is pretty hard in the tin but comes with a neat guitar pick to scrape some out with. How I've been using it is to scrape out a little with the pick, then roll it between my thumb and pointer finger to soften it up a bit. Then just smear it into the stache a bit. My little trick is to then run a comb under hot water at the sink and gradually comb the wax throughout my mustache. In a few minutes it returns to its original consistency and holds really well. Also worth mentioning is that there is no fragrance with the Sudden Death wax. Part of me wishes it smelled as good as the Reuzel but no biggie. I would buy the Sudden Death wax again.

This wax has a very strong hold. It did take a little practice with heat to get use to it. It's the only wax so far I have tried to be able to still hold shape in the Summer heat. The wax remover from Death Grip makes it a lot easier to remove at the end of the day.

    Best wax I've tried yet

    A.C. · November 2, 2023

The media could not be loaded. I usually use prorasso and I can tell this is going to suit me much better. I have to work out in the wilderness in all manner of elements, wet, dry, hot or cold, and the prorasso just can't keep up.Death Grip has a channel with some instructional videos on moustache care and how to apply their waxes - I highly recommend watching some of them as I did. For best results you're going to want a hairdryer and a good comb handy.Upon opening the tin, I was greeted with a very solid wax. It's unscented, with a pleasant aroma that reminded me of leather and haybarns. I wanted to really test how strong the hold was, so I put in a very small amount and styled my stache in the evening, then went to bed. Stuff worked great, held over night and was shaped the exact same when I woke up. I went to work and it was pretty wet/cold outside, and lots of condensation built up on my stache. Now at this point, any other wax I've used would have turned greasy and lost its hold, leading to a filthy looking, limp, wet dog of a stache. But the Death Grip, true to it's name, still held with no grease or loss of shape. When I got home and went to remove the wax, I found it comes out quite easily with beard oil, hot water and a vigorous combing. That last thing I'll say is that the key to both styling with this wax, and removing it, is PATIENCE. Don't rush, take your time, and you should have no issue both applying and removing it.

    The Ultimate!

I was running out of my previous wax (different brand), so I ordered this in readiness. My last wax only ran out last week and so I've only just opened and used this product for the first time this week; and..... Wow!! Suffice to say, I won't be returning to my prior brand. This stuff is nuclear grade wax. Ideal for finer hair. Not sure you'd get it through thicker beards / moustaches as it's so dense!First thing to know is that you have to heat the wax with a hair dryer to melt it so you can even get any out of the tin... so, not ideal for taking out with you for a top up. However, I doubt you'll need a top up: I first applied it on a Tuesday morning: my moustache and beard set in place and, I kid you not, didn't move until the Thursday! It hadn't even moved after a night's sleep for those two days.Be warned though: the wax comes out of the tin (once heated) with a texture similar to pine resin rather than a traditional wax. This makes it stiff to even get a comb through after initial application and a nightmare to get the residue off your fingers and comb afterwards. (On first time using it I ended up with residue stuck to the sink taps and soap dispenser as I desperately tried to get it off my hands!). The plus side is, once you've applied the wax it works amazingly well. The best wax I've tried. The only minus point is, the wax isn't scented so has a straight wax odour.

Perfekt!
