About this item:
Professional reviewers and ergonomists agree that finger-operated trackballs are superior to thumb-based trackballs when it comes to precision and hand comfort. At the same time, professional users prefer the convenience of wireless controllers. Kensington has responded with its most advanced trackball yet: the SlimBlade™ Pro Trackball. Now you can enjoy the precision and ease of a finger-operated trackball that includes Bluetooth, 2.4GHz wireless and wired capabilities, as well as unique dual-sensor ball-twist scrolling. All in a sleek design that saves valuable desk space and can be used with either hand. It’s the ultimate in accuracy, comfort, and control.

5.0 out of 5 stars What do you expect of it?
Hey there!I should start by saying that this is my first trackball so I won't and can't compare it with others. I am an IT person and it was time I changed my input devices as I was starting to feel discomfort. As usual, I did research the area quite a bit before deciding to order this device. Thumb trackballs were out of the question for me as I'm sure that'd give me an achy thumb at the end of the day so my choices weren't so great anyway.Even though I read some really negative comments in here about this device, I found those hard to believe and wanted to see with my own eyes how this performs.TLDR: So after a week of use, I can confidently say 'Go for it!'...The negative comments/claims here are mostly subjective is what I've figured. I will tell you all about the negative comments and how I feel, which is for me the 'fact'...Comment: The scroll function isn't working well. The speed increase will lead to skipping pages at a time.Fact: There is nothing wrong with this innovative twist scrolling. Works just like a mouse wheel does. The scrolling sound is not loud and it really adds to user experience. You can scroll one line at a time and hear a satisfying click each time. I agree that it’d be a good idea to be able to disable the scrolling sound for those who don’t like it or even disable it altogether.I have been using this for a week now and scrolling has worked really well. I have never accidentally activated it and every time I used it, it worked as expected so I can’t understand why you’d want to disable it but, anyway….Comment: The ball makes too much noise when moving around.Fact: No, it does not. It is in fact very smooth and there is really no audible noise.Comment: It doesn’t work well with fast-paced shooter gamesFact: This is a tough one. Is this thing even designed to be used for that? I seriously don’t know. I did not buy it to play games. I use mine for everything else. If I want to game, I’ll grab my ps5 controller :)Comment: Buttons for DPI and connections are misplaced. It causes accidental button presses when you try picking it up.Fact: Due to its phsyical design, there are 3 surfaces available for use. The 2 sides and the bottom. They placed these buttons on either side as having them under the device would be quite inconvenient. See photos ;)Comment: Polling rate blah blah blah…Fact: If you don’t plan to control a robot that performs brain surgery on a human with this… you can just say yeah yeah and move on… :DAnd lastly I should add that it makes a good companion to my keyboard :)
5.0 out of 5 stars My ergonomic end-game
I have RSI. I've been using trackballs for a few years now, and now that I have this one, I think I'm done experimenting. This is it.It's ridiculously comfortable. Scrolling, while a learning experience, is pretty easy to do once you try it. You drag your finger along the side of the ball, scrolling up or down as you do. You can also twist the ball, but both work, and I find the former method way more comfortable. The trackball is big enough to be easily controlled. I have tiny hands (I wear a women's small in gloves), but I feel completely comfortable using the SlimBlade Pro despite it being bigger than many trackballs. The build quality is ridiculously solid, with the buttons feeling very nice to hit and the trackball moving very smoothly. All connectivity options work like magic. Bluetooth works great with my iPads. The dongle and directly wired, of course, work amazingly as well. I don't feel any stuttering or input lag using this trackball for hours at a time for work or gaming. The DPI toggle is very convenient, although I generally only use the two lowest settings. The preset buttons are the only thing I might change. Left and right click are the left and right bottom buttons respectively. The top left is a middle mouse button click, which is very useful for my workflow and for a lot of games. The top right, however, is a back button, which I keep hitting on accident! It can be changed, though, and I'm sure I'll get used to it with time if I don't.Overall, I love this trackball. If I lose it, I'll get another. If it breaks, I'll get another. This is it for me.
4.0 out of 5 stars Worth it!
This is my third Kensington rollerball device purchase, it is also the most expensive, but the only one worth buying, even above their wired devices which I incorrectly expected to be more reliable.WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THIS:1. The options- you can use it wired, wireless with the dongle or wireless with no dongle. All options are reliable and have their advantages.2. Wireless with no dongle is just as responsive as wired or wireless with dongle which is not the norm with most devices.3. The buttons are smooth and responsive. The more affordable versions are not like this.4. Big ball, this rollerball is larger than the rollerballs in some of the other Kensington devices. For some reason this makes it better, not sure why or how, but it does make a difference.WHAT I DONT LIKE:1. For some reason I cannot download the Kensington works app to my M2 MacBook Air.2. the scrolling feature is a little difficult to get used to, but it does get better. I would still prefer a dedicated piece of hardware on the device offering the scrolling feature but I can also understand the reasons for having it the way it is.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, only switches could be better
In short I love it. I have used some time now - around a year. For me, there was nearly no learning curve.Pros:- the ball moves smoothly- size of the ball could be little bit bigger but even now it is really pleasant experience[- scrolling is addictive- cleaning up dust from the sensors or the ball is trivial- mapping of all the 4 buttons on Linux is really easy- I'm using the cable all the time, but I imagine that the Bluetooth could be a deal-breaker for someCons:- the only con I can think of after all that time are the button switches. The click is not buttery smooth as it could be. They should have used the highest quality Japanese Omrons switches for those. I will get those when the current switches break.
Good quality!
A new way to use a mouse but its just needs some getting used too. Good build quality!
Eccellente scorrevolezza, tante funzioni assegnabili, ottima ergonomia
Nice
This trackball offers a comfortable grip, it took not a long time of getting used to after a year of using Logitech M575 shape. It's not worse or better, just a little different. Build quality feels good for the price. The left and right buttons provide pleasant tactile feedback, which I prefer a little more to the silent switches on ProtoArc EM04. The back and forward buttons are easy to click, and the scroll wheel, made of some kind of metal, is smooth and pleasant to scroll. Switch device button on the top is convenient. And ball eject button is better solution that a hole.Battery life is good. Unlike ProtoArc, which required frequent charging, at least once a week considering I switched it off after work, this trackball lasts a long time on a single charge, no need to switch off. I check battery from time to time and there is no noticeable discharge. The only drawback for me is the non-replaceable battery. The TB450 model has a replaceable battery, and it would be preferable to have that option here as well. I don't have any issues with Bluetooth or scroll. It's smooth and match competitors performance. The included software looks inconvenient and heavy (~350mb).I bought this trackball because of it's design and color scheme. It matches my other hardware. But aside from design it's just a good trackball.
