5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Read for Any Teen Looking to Up Their Adulting Game
After reading through "Adulting Like A Pro: Essential Life Skills for Teens and Young Adults, and Tips on How to Become a Grown-Up," I can honestly say that I learned a lot.One of the things I appreciated most about this book was how thorough it was. It covered a wide variety of topics, from basic financial advice to finding fulfillment in adulthood. And despite the wide range of subjects, the book never felt overwhelming or confusing.Another standout feature of "Adulting Like A Pro" was the hands-on exercises included with each chapter. These exercises helped me to apply the information I learned and gave me a chance to practice my new skills in a safe and supportive environment. Plus, they were actually fun to do!But what really sets this book apart is how well-researched it is. The author clearly put a lot of time and effort into researching each topic, and it shows. Every section of the book is packed with helpful examples and references to back up the advice given.Overall, I would highly recommend "Adulting Like A Pro" to any teen who is looking to become more confident and capable in their adult life. Whether you're a teenager just starting out or a young adult who feels like they're floundering, this book has something to offer. It's clear, concise, and written in a conversational tone that makes it easy to read and understand. Five stars!
5.0 out of 5 stars Accidental treasure
Let me say at the start that this book is not aimed at my age group. But I think it deals with such an important topic that I felt compelled to buy and read it. I wanted to see what kind of advice young adults are being offered. I liked what I read. The book is filled with good advice and encouragement. The author has done a nice job in researching the content, and it will help young people grasp the concepts with ease. The author is right on target by saying, “Passion leads to motivation.” The guidance provided is straightforward and gets to the heart of various matters. What particularly stood out to me were the real-life cases that make the content come alive.Lots of us are worried about young people. Yet, it's evident that the author has compassion for and an understanding of the current generation. The author addresses topics that often aren't covered in traditional educational settings. For teens, and young adults looking to reach their potential, this book could very well be the compass they need. It's refreshing. I recommend it to anyone on the brink of their adult journey and those who influence them. I’m glad I stumbled on this book and I think it is extremely worthwhile.
5.0 out of 5 stars Teen must read
From the very first chapter, I was hooked. The author's writing style is relatable and easy to understand, making complex adulting concepts feel approachable. The book covers a wide range of essential life skills, from budgeting and time management to cooking and basic home maintenance. It's like having a wise mentor guiding you through the transition to adulthood. What sets this book apart is the inclusion of activities after each chapter. These hands-on exercises are not only fun but also incredibly informative. They help reinforce the lessons learned and provide a chance to practice and apply newfound knowledge. It's like a personal growth workshop in book form! One of my favorite aspects of this book is its emphasis on personal development and mental health. It tackles topics like stress management, self-care, and building resilience, which are often overlooked in traditional "adulting" guides. The book encourages readers to not only master practical skills but also nurture their emotional well-being.
5.0 out of 5 stars Well presented six areas of teen and young adult life.
The book is well written and the six areas the author covers of teen life is well researched. I like how the book is presented and laid out. My only concern is to present the material the way the author did, and she does a marvelous job, the book is also weakened in two areas. The first is figuring out vocation is far more complicated than the book presents and I worry a teen might struggle with wondering why they can not figure it out with the material presented. The second is, in order to present the material the way the author did, and again she does this very well, the book losses a certain warm fuzzy feel, or as one reviewer put it the material feels clinical. I would not go that far, as the author is warm and encouraging. As a writer myself I could not have presented the material any better and this subject matter is my expertise. The material is concise and has to be to cover the material the way it does. I solved my two concerns while sharing this book with my teen daughter by explaining some of the things I know about vocation as well as talking out some of the material. Despite the two concerns I mention this book is exceptional and I highly recommend it.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good starter book
This is a well-meaning book that tries to teach teens and young adults life skills they need to move onto adulthood. In parts where it succeeds, it is informative, but where it doesn't, it doesn't. I felt that the cooking section was too brief, the section about car maintenance too general to be useful, and the section about health insurance rather confusing. I think it assumes readers have a certain level of knowledge about the topics already, so it wouldn't be for my 14-yr-old. The decision to dedicate a whole chapter on buying a home, to me, is surprising. How many teenagers buy homes?
Great help to teens and adults-to-be
This book sheds light on plenty of life skills that teens are not taught at school. Essential things like money budgeting, meal prepping, renting a flat and furnishing it, buying your first car and home, as well as looking after yourself and wellbeing. These things when learnt early will surly set a person up for success in their life. Studies show that young people who do not learn responsibility from a young age are more prone to depression as adults. It’s important for teens to learn the responsibilities and challenges that await them, and how to be best prepared to tackle them.I particularly like the activities that come after every chapter. They make sure the reader stays engaged and gives them a chance to practice what they have learnt.
Great read for my Teens!
This book is handy for any teenager or young adult who wants to start their adulting life on the right foot. It covers all essential life skills and that helps young adults reach their full potential. Highly recommended!
