In June, 2024 I purchased a Gen5detect to replace my five year old V8. The Gen5 was expensive, but it was on sale on Bolo so I girded my lions and closed my eyes as I hit the “Proceed to Checkout” button.I am a 78 year old 4” 11” woman and my large Dyson Animal was getting just a little too heavy to use everyday.Boy what a difference! I use the Gen5 almost every single day, and love it.The Gen5 is quieter; smother and easier to handle; love the Fluffy Optic Cleaner Head, light sees every speck of dust; and love the On/Off button as opposed to the “dead man’s switch” on their other products I have owned. Easier on the hands.In Sept the ball wheels on the side of the Digital Motorbar Clean Head came off. I found replacements on Bolo, but from the looks of the part they may or may not fit the Gen5 although the description says they would. Looked like the axel on the part was broken. Went back onto Bolo and read the reviews and found several customers reporting this issue.I Logged onto the Dyson website and Chatted with a Customer Service Rep. Asked me whether or not the parts on Bolo would indeed fit the Gen5. Told the Customer Service Rep (Harpreet K) my story and asked whether it was common for the Motorbar Cleaner Head to break, and would the Bolo part fix the issue. He asked for pics of the damage.When he came back into the Chat, he validated that the part was only three months old, and indicated there was no need for me to order the replacement wheels from Bolo. He had gotten approval from his manager to send me a new Digital Motorbar to replace the broken one. GREAT!Said the part was out of stock, but as soon as it was replenished, I would receive an Email and could call Customer Service to have the new Motorbars sent to me.Waited for three weeks, and when I did not hear from Dyson, logged onto Customer Service again and chatted with another Dyson Colleague. Gave him the Cast Number given by Harpreet and asked when I could expect the new Motorbar to be in stock?The Customer Service Rep said they did not know when the part would be back in stock, and not to worry because Dyson will be replacing the product in its entirety. What! Dyson will send me a new Gen5Detect? Yes.Please box up the old vac and all its parts (Do I have a box? Yes…) and use the UPS Label in my email box to return the product. Boxed it up and took to UPS the next day. Dyson’s website said it could take as long as 15 days from the date they receive the old vacuum to send me another.Yesterday I received my new Gen5Detect via UPS less than 10 days after I returned the broken vacuum. Been using my old V8 in the interim, and what a difference.Customer reviews also spoke to not so good customer service on the Dyson Website. I did not find that to be the case. The individuals I worked with were professional, knowledgeable and able to make customerfacing decisions. They resolved the issue quickly and much to my satisfaction.I currently have a 20+ year yellow Dyson which I still use in my sewing room; a purple animal upright which I will probably give up; the very first Dyson stick 25 years ago which I was very disappointed in and returned; the V8 and now the Gen5.

I have considered purchasing a Dyson ever since they came on the market. The price (yikes!) and the mixed reviews from owners and Consumer Reports always stopped me in the past. I have had corded - upright- higher end Sharks, passed along to the kids when they got replaced. For about this past year the most recent Shark became much harder to push and I could visibly see it wasn't picking up very well and who knows how was not being seen? This time I decided I wanted a cordless model now that these newest models rivaled the power of an upright. I started reading the Dyson reviews again and decided to pull the trigger on this Gen5Detect. The features most important to me were: 1) Battery run time; 2) Suction power; 3)power button stays on...and of course the recent reviews. When it arrived I ran my shark over a carpet section then went over the same area with the Dyson. OH MY. How much it picked up and what it picked up was impressive and disgusting all at once. As I vacuumed the rest of the first floor and emptied the bin numerous times and saw the breakdown of debris I thought "maybe there are things I didn't really want to know"! My first grand baby (they live next door) will be crawling soon and thinking what she would be crawling around on...ugh! My daughter-in-law wants one too, so she came over to witness the first running.We were both surprised at how small the bin is (.2 gallons) and emptying it is a multi step process. I think that as I get used to it this will become quicker. Hoping that it won't require emptying as often once the carpets and hardwoods are cleaner. I do not vacuum the whole house (3000 sq ft) at any one time - the charge lasts long enough to do 3-4 rooms at a time. Fine for me, but maybe not for others. I have noticed that at 100% power it has a real time run time of 20-30 minutes. HOPE this is because it is still working harder to get accumulated dirt up, and the actual run time will improve as floors are cleaner. I am watching this while I still have a return window. I decided that the additional cost for the Outsize version's 1/2 gallon bin was not worth the cost...this purchase was the most expensive vacuum I've ever bought. I also especially like the stair attachment - it really is so much easier to use on the 2 flights of stairs than my previous ones. So - in conclusion - overall very pleased with the performance of both the carpet and the hardwood floor attachments and the light on the hardwood is very helpful (and revealing). It's heavy enough to do an admirable cleaning job, but not so heavy that my arm is suffering. Love that I can maneuver in, around and under places hard to reach with an upright. Fingers crossed this purchase doesn't disappoint in the long run!

Tenia mis dudas, tengo una aspiradora eureka que constantemente se le atoran los pelitos de mis mascotas en las llantitas razón por la cual me animé a comprar esta aspiradora y no me arrepiento en lo absoluto! Tengo un akita americano y en época de peluche tira bastante pelo y puedo retirarlo a la perfección con esta aspiradora, algo que hay que tomar en cuenta es que si está algo pesada y puede llegar a ser difícil aspirar toda la casa de una sola vez sobre todo para una persona mayor, sin embargo agarrando práctica ya no se siente tanto el peso
