I got a set each for my 11 and 13-year-old kids and added them to the amomii UNO... They've never done programming before but once they scanned the QR code for instructions were able to dive in with just enough difficulty to be challenging and still provide an extremely fulfilling project. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. After some work they got the LEDs flashing, changing brightness and colours, and doing what they wanted....amazing! It's not just a simple plug-and-play, but a quality learning tool... very satisfying to see it working as promised after the straightforward coding and programming! This really spurred my boy's curiosity and today they are jumping into building a Backlit Sign using the instructions in the Projects and Hacks area of the amomii website. Access to all the projects and learning is free...what a great way to learn and have fun at the same time!

I followed along with the Getting Start pdf and currently have all 8 of the strips showing random light patterns behind my computer screen lighting up the wall. Looks awesome. Now I need to learn to write some custom code and get them setup how I want them. The start of an exciting journey.

8 strips was the sweet spot. I needed 4 but after cutting into the box and setting up the small display I was working with the need for a few more arose and I am glad there were 8. They are bright and worked as intended. Pretty easy to set up and using a PiNano made them work as I wanted.

To be clear - this is a nice small kit for installing and implementing LED RGB strips for a home project or as a learning tool ... that said ... it can is not usable without attaching the strips and connectors to a controlling device - e.g. an Arduino board. This establishes that the user has to purchase the board - and be knowledgeable about the interface requirements and the programming language needed to operate the strips and change the LED colors. If you have this, I recommend this product - if not, them please look elsewhere.

I was surprised by the small box but the product is exactly as described. I am excited to set them up and watch what I can make the lights do. Not sure, but I feel the price might be a little high.
