5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful shoes for the slightly above average active person!

They have always fit great, felt awesome all day, and really helped me get around on trails from gravel to rocks. I always have great grip! The way they look has always been a bit... Uh... Utilitarian. Not ugly by any means but not super stylish. They've held up amazing and I still use them all the time. Just recently hiked the whole grand canyon rim with these! When the time came to finally spend some money on everyday shoes, I was racking my head for brands I could trust. I was a fan of Puma sneakers but recently the quality has been kinda trash and I have to replace them like 3x a year.I was happy to see these in all black. They kinda have a Euro sporty look and the same lace-free design that I love about my hiking shoes.Since I have been more active these days I figured a more durable shoe would be better for my needs. They are good looking enough to wear every day but great for the occasional casual 4 mile evening walk. I look forward to many happy months (maybe years?) with these shoes.
5.0 out of 5 stars Get A Grip
This is my 5th pair of Salomon Speedcross trail runners. I usually buy a pair a year and wear them practically every day for everything. Note that I do NOT use these for trail or road running as I'm not a runner, so this review is for people who use these as regular sneakers. (That doesn't mean they're not excellent for trail running--I just wouldn't know what to compare them to.) They're incredibly comfortable. The sole is really grippy. It has a fast drawstring lace system that works flawlessly. It also has a laces "garage" at the top of the tongue which sounds like a gimmick but is dead useful. They're very good looking shoes that you can wear pretty much anywhere informal. They're pretty durable; as I said I wear mine almost every day. And I like the gray color which is subtle and goes with everything.PLEASE NOTE: My review is for a pair of shoes that are only labeled "Speedcross." I am assuming they are genuine but the Speedcross series is numbered. For example, the ones I bought replaced a pair of Speedcross 5's. (I didn't buy the most recent Speedcross 6's because the new graphics are hideous.) I'm a little suspicious because these shoes were low-priced and do not have a number. However, they seem to be the real thing (perhaps a version for an overseas market?) and feel just like the ones I replaced. I hope these continue to be available because the newest version 6 is truly ugly and I can only imagine what the 7 series will look like.
5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional cross training/trail shoes
Well made nice looking shoes, Used them on a loose dirt and rock trail -and was able to complete the run and walk with ease. My feet felt good afterwards the light cushioning of the shoe was enough to get me through the 5 mile trail. Shoesnfit well and supported my ankles well.
5.0 out of 5 stars In my opinion, the 5 star reviews are true!
I’m an over 65 woman who likes to wear men’s athletic shoes because of the wider toe area, even though I don’t have any foot problems I just like to be able to wiggle my toes and where socks. I was looking for some trail shoes to start walking in cooler weather. after doing some research and reading a lot of different trail shoe reviews this caught my eye.WOW, the second I put them on, I was so impressed and surprised! I showed my husband and he tried them on and they also fit him perfectly so I’ve ordered more. I’ll was looking for good arch support. This is good arch support and very comfortable yet sturdy. Also, I like the lacing, and the cubby in the tongue to store. adjustable ends.we can’t wait to use them!!
4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Trail Shoe With One Caveat
I've been using a version of this shoe since the Speedcross 3 back in 2015. Overall quality has been great and the fit/support/performance is excellent. And they look great. I just bought my 5th pair.About me: Size 13; 6' tall; 295 lbs (think ex-linebacker build - I could lose some weight but pretty solid)How I typically use them: fast moving hikes; 5 to 7 miles; 1 to 3 times per week; mixed gravel, dirt/muck, roots, rocks, plenty of slippery leavesThe Speedcross are very (VERY) grippy, which is nice considering the terrain I'm often on. I find the support is decent.Comfort level is very good but I will say on the rare occasions where I'm getting over 8 or 9 miles, I will start to feel it. That could be a factor of my weight as much as the shoe. Absolutely no comfort issues up to that point though. The lacing system is easy to figure out and works really well. I did break a lace on a pair a few years ago and was able to buy a replacement for it which lasted until the shoes wore out. No problemThe caveat? My experience is the soles wear out pretty quickly - especially on the SC6. And especially if you use on sand and/or pavement much - which I've learned to try to avoid. I think this is a direct effect of the grippiness of the soles which, again, is excellent. I've gone back to the SC5 this time (price) but both versions have this issue.Still.... recommended.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great shoes for sports - especially turf.
I use these primarily for slow pitch softball. They are great on dirt, grass, or turf surfaces. I've purchased several pairs of these over the years and won't play in anything else. I also always replace the laces with elastic laces for a more comfortable fit and easy on and off. When I've worn them down and get a new pair, the old pair turn into my easy slip on everyday wearables. Once they mold to my feel it's hard to wear anything else casually.
5.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable
Fits my feet perfectly. Fast shipment
3.0 out of 5 stars Tongue and heel pad fold under
Since I am wearing the shoes for normal walking, maybe my comments shoud be discounted. I have owned a similar Solomon boots for years and they are finally worn out. These are a bit fifferent model. My main gripe is putting them on. The tongue tends to bend over and ride down to the arch, while the heel pad also turns inward when you put the shoes on. It seem the space for the arch is insuffiecient to allow the foot to enter the shoe without being deformed. If you have a high arch you might check the shoes carefully when delivered.
