5.0 out of 5 stars Love these keyboards!
Keyboard is great, prelubed bananas are exactly to my taste.
5.0 out of 5 stars Quality
If you're here, you aren't here by accident looking at one of these. Went with the banana keys and coming from cherry reds. These are awesome. Quality keyboard, weighs a lot. You could probably crack concrete if you drop it. Would buy again.
4.0 out of 5 stars An amazingly flexible keyboard platform that is just missing WiFi.
The heavy duty metal construction will not disappoint. The volume knob feels substantial and typing on this is a amazing.I am not a fan of the keycap profile included with this board and swapped them immediately. The included ones are nice and thick which does lend for a nice sound though the profile combined with the keyboard height made it just too tall and the touchable surface area on the key caps too small. If you end up swapping them out though like I did (me with a shine through OEM PBT set) they will most likely end up being a bit higher pitched.Replacing the stock switches with Gateron Milky Yellow pros seems to have rectified the situation. If I had to do over I would have started with the yellow switches version of this keyboard (non milky) as I also find the red switches to be a little to light when it comes to resistance. A VERY light tap is all it takes with the reds. Combine that with the sound profile and... no thanks. If you're picky, get the bare bones version of this (no switches or keycaps). If you need something right away, get the version with the yellow switches and beware of the keycap profile. The price is also a bit much. You can find this cheaper on the KeyChron site however they are NEVER in stock so if you need something soon this is the only option. The price is also a bit steep as there are competitors with similar build quality for cheaper if you have patience. In summary, a great board though a bit pricey and not the best stock profile for me.
5.0 out of 5 stars Overall pretty good
Not the cheapest, but very nice to use.
3.0 out of 5 stars Oh Keychron. Its good
I have to avoid reviewing Keychron in this review, but I have to mention it in case anyone has a similar experience. I originally wanted to buy from Keychron directly because the exact style color I wanted was not available on Bolo. I placed an order on both after their support told me I would be able to return to them the incorrect keyboard with the switches after manually replacing them, which they would come with a tool for me to do that.I placed the order on Saturday on Bolo and had the keyboard by mid-week, Wednesday. The order from Keychron didn't progress after a whole nother week. I messaged them on Friday of the end of that second week. No response no anything. Finally by the third week Wednesday, I cancelled the order through my credit card and told them I would not be placing my order. There wasn't a single notification or response to my inquiries, not a "shipping is delayed" anything confirming my order had even been processed yet. They did refund me and send me an email the day after I did that and let me know the return was processed. I can't believe they did not even offer a single regret or explanation.Anyway, so if you want to do anything like that, do not expect to do it, or anticipate that you will need to use the temporary keyboard for months or more. (And YES the product was in-stock on Keychron)... ANYWAY.Other than not being a color I like, this keyboard is okay. Had the experience not been sour, I would probably give it a bit better of a review, but there are some glaring issues. For one, the keyboard is backlit, and there is space around all the keys so that you can have the RGB lights, but they do not do ANYTHING for you when the lights are off. The white keyboard which I got (white and grey with red buttons) (the only one that was available on Bolo) is impossible to see in the dark. Don't waste your time. And honestly it is an unacceptable oversight in my eyes, and why you should not buy this keyboard. Such a basic thing is included on a $30 keyboard I just purchased. The letters are not "black" they are clear cut through the keys so the lights shine through. I cannot believe that Keychron has this flaw. The other big flaw with it is that since it is white, unless you have pure daylight the keyboard always looks dingy and dirty. The yellow overhead light makes the keyboard look like a dull yellow, and it also makes the keys harder to look at. I wanted the black keyboard, which was not available when ordering, but I feel like that one would not have this issue, and might also be easier to see in the dark. The black writing on grey keys is also a bit hard to read for contrast purposes and seems like a poor design choice. The colors are really cool but they just don't pop out as much on a white keyboard as they would on a black key I feel. It's kind of dim and lacking. The good? First, with the banana keys, this keyboard is AMAZING for typing. It is the perfect sound that I like, the keys are easy to hit and I love the programmable 4 keys above the number pad. Again, the keyboard I really wanted was the "southpaw" which moves the numberpad over to the left, but I had to settle for this one. I use Microsoft PowerToys Preview to remap the keys and it works great. They suggest another tool but I don't want to run yet another always-on tool when I already have Powertoys to do other things. The knob is amazing. Very tactile and perfect for volume adjustment. I did not expect it to "click" but it does have a push-in click key so you can press it to mute quickly, or turn the dial to adjust the volume.I like that it comes with separate keys so I don't have to have Mac command keys, I can put on the Windows logo key and have it laid out like a normal Windows keyboard. It is quite heavy so unlike other keyboards, I don't have to worry about accidentally pushign it back and forth on my keyboard tray. It is heavy enough to just stay put. I think the frame is all metal and it feels very professional.Overall, I would recommend this keyboard if you can find it exactly how you want it, the keycaps you want and the color you want. Otherwise I think it is a waste of money.
2.0 out of 5 stars Great quality--not so functional
This keyboard feels great and is amazingly high in quality. But I can't type on it due to the small, high, long travel keys and no adjustability. Plus you can't change the angle and it lacks lights for cap locks etc. I can type much more easily, quickly and accurately on my $20.00 logitech. Was reluctant to return because it really is beautiful but whenever I needed to actually get work done I'd swap it for the 20 dollar deal, so I realized it just didn't make sense.
4.0 out of 5 stars Satisfying clicks
This is so soothing to hear the clicks and type with. I didn’t give it 5 stars only because it requires pressing a button multiple times before registering the input.
4.0 out of 5 stars Its good, but…!
Overall, this is a good keyboard with excellent quality. However, I am not comfortable using it. It seems that the lower part of my hand touches the buttons at the bottom of the keyboard because it cannot change angles. Therefore, I have to try to bend my hand to avoid touching other buttons, which is really uncomfortable. This might be an unreasonable choice for people with small hands.
