Bought this as a gift for 7 year old boy. He loved this detective kit and immediately donned the trench coat and hat. Had fun with fingerprinting & crime scene tape. Would definitely recommend.

I put this kit on my sons' wishlist for Christmas and I was ecstatic when they (meaning I) actually got one. Of course I dove right into it and sat my sons down to experiment with finger prints. I've had plenty of experience as a forensic person when I ran a detective agency when I was 10. So I thought I was going to really impress the boys with my skills. Well, it didn't go so well with the brush that came with it, as I of course already suspected at first glance. The brush isn't soft enough and will damage the print. I'd replace it with a fiberglass brush.

The product listing says good for 4-10 year olds and after buying this for my 4 year old grandson I can confirm that it is not great for the younger end of that age range. The corn starch is just a mess waiting to happen.

I was VERY pleased with this kit for my 5 year old female neighbor who has a million interests and one just starting in the detective area. I always buy her a dress of her liking, but feel that kids should get a toy as well! So when I saw this, I was a little hesitant, but thought it looked like something she would enjoy. Her mom sent me the photos of her decked out in the 'overcoat, hat and magnifying glasses' and I was so glad I took the chance. One never knows what will spark a future career for busy little minds. I would definitely recommend for others with similar interests.......as long as you don't mind being finger printed!

Expensive but nice gift for an older child
Defintely overpriced but if you have a "detective" that likes to play and dust finger prints on surfaces.. this is a decent product. The costume was nice too
Good gift but some items are broken
I am happy with the gift but the glasses were broken. This is a bit disappointing because once you hand the gift to the kids it's hard to take it back in order to replace it. Please ensure the quality is improved for future purchases.
Not what we expected
Younger kids may like this more than older kids but make sure to remove the UV light (please make sure to read the instructions before giving this to your child). You may decide to take that uv light away before they start playing with it.
