I had an old one for years that finally started giving me trouble. Would have gotten another of that make, but it wasn’t submersible so I thought I would try something else.Anyway, this one is a little slower than my old one, and I have learned to start it at the same time I start the half pot of coffee I make every morning. I like the different settings and especially the multiple heat settings. It’s nice to top off your hot coffee with a hot foam on a cold morning. I have found though that the lowest heat works best for getting a good froth.Couple of things about how it works. Part of the reason it takes longer is that it pauses periodically. I think to check the temperature? So don’t assume it’s done until you hear the chime. How long it will take depends on how much foam and heat you want, which is logical, right? So your mileage may vary.It says in the instructions to start with cold fresh milk, and it also gives information on how well different kinds of “milk” will foam. The key is to understand that you need a decent fat content to get foam. So some of your plant based fake “milks” are not going to give the result you want. That is not a flaw of the machine. The same is true of skim milks, and even with whole milk you want to pay attention to the fat content because they are not all the same. Wegman’s store brand, frex, does not foam well, something I learned with my previous frother. So if you really care about that, compare the fat content of different brands when you are buying your milk.I have not yet tried it for hot chocolate or chai, but I am hoping it works well so that I can dispense with heating milk on the stove. I might report back if I remember. Finally, it’s a nice clean design with no buttons or knobs so it cleans up with just a wipe and the pitcher can go in the dishwasher. Just be sure to remove the whisk and put it somewhere secure like the silverware basket or the top tray if you have one of those. It’s small and might get misplaced or end up blocking something in your dishwasher. Take it out first if you are going to hand wash so it doesn’t end up going down the drain.
5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding foam and quality
The media could not be loaded. Let me begin...I first purchased the Breville Milk frother because it was America's Test Kitchen top choice. Long story short I returned it in less than 1 month due to the frother stopped making foam, poor quality materials, and sometimes would not even come on. Bolo was great and accepted it back and refunded my full amount. Then my search continued....I just purchased my first Instant Pot Cooker about 1 month ago and knew it was made of great quality. That's why I decided to go with Instant Pot Magic Froth. First, with unwrapping I noticed the high quality of this frother. It is made of high grade Stainless Steel and the bottom was made of the same Stainless Steel quality (not plastic as my 159.99 Breville was). I used it with no manual instructions, yes it's that easy. I put 2 Tablespoons of half and half, a squirt of Torani puremade syrup and 1 packet of stevia. In 1 minute the froth you see in the pictures appeared. Never ever got this with my Breville. It makes enough froth for 1 person and it can make up to enough froth for several cups of latte's or expresso's. It was instantly hot, frothy and very smooth. I would hands down pick this frother over any out there so far. I will say, after use , clean up was a breeze. Also, the frothing whisk is magnetic made of high quality stainless steel with strong BPA free center. Yes, so far so good. Hope this helps someone looking for a high quality reasonable priced heated frother. Temperature of froth was about 160 degrees from my guess on hottest setting, there is lower temperatures you can choose if you want less heat. There are froth settings for thickest of froth also. It beeps when finished, it will go into standby mode after 5 minutes or simply unplug. Wonderful product!!!
1.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed, wouldn’t buy again
I LOVED my old milk frother, but it broke sadly. So I was forced to look for another one. I bought this one because it was a reputable company and thought they would stick by their products. Well after purchasing it I was disappointed that it took over 5 minutes for my milk to froth. It was an inconvenience, but I figured out how to adjust my morning time. The froth was nice and thick (I chose the thick foam setting) and so that was worth the wait. However, after owning it for only 5 weeks it stopped frothing, now all I get is warm milk with a couple of bubbles on top. This happened several times. Since it was just past the 4 week mark for a return through Bolo, I contacted the company asking for a refund and they told me all they could do is give me another unit. So now I could get another unit to last me another 5 weeks and then what? Do I get another unit after that when the new one stops working? I’m just sad that the quality in milk brothers has declined so much. My old one lasted over 4 years!
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing froth!
I've just come back from Sydney, Australia where the cafe culture reigns supreme. This pot makes froth that takes me back! It even makes cold froth for indulgent milk shakes!I wouldn't call the froth making "Instant" - I haven't timed it but it takes about a minute or two to go through the whipping process, but it is definitely worth the short wait. The froth is thick and silky, and it maintains its density long enough that you have to use a spoon to scrape out the remainder when you've finished your cup. There are some vague recipe suggestions in the instruction book, so I am going to try to make matcha latte. I'm not quite sure if you put the matcha and milk in the pot to mix and heat it there - but the pot and whisk thingamebob are so easy to clean that if that's not quite right, it won't be a problem.A really good reminder of my time in Sydney's cafés. Glad I treated myself!
