Monk is a fun show. When it was on TV I would catch it every now and then. I had streaming services for a while and have cable. It's nice to have a physical copy so I can watch it when I want without ads.Season one is fine. The following seasons the show gets a lot better. Obviously you need to like this kind of show.

That fact that The Mandolorian, Psych and Monk are all coming to Bluray in the same year, back-to-back, is a dream come true, and it's coming just in time for Mr. Monks Last Case. As a physical media collector, I've been bummed that many of my favorite shows, new and old, have been limited to lower quality physical releases, or to streaming exclusively, so this is a set that I definitely will not miss.Thank you Kino Lorber for releasing this season on Bluray. I hope it does well enough for us to get all 8 seasons!

Thank you Kino Lober! I am disappointed this is a 4K transfer but not on a 4K disc. If you’re going to spend the time doing a 4K restoration, please release a 4K blu ray.Either way, thank you Kino Lober for keeping physical media alive!! I love Monk! Please release the whole series!

Super, trotz kleiner Schwächen
Zum Inhalt:Die ersten 5 Staffeln von Monk, dem herrlich paranoiden und verschrobenen Assistenten der Polizei.Es ist eine Gabe, und ein Fluch. Er hat einfach den richtigen Blick und weiß meist sofort, wer der Mörder ist.Die Fälle sind mal skurril und einfallsreich, mal nichts neues.Was die Serie aber ausmacht, sind nicht die Fälle an sich, sondern wie Monk den Verbrechern auf die Schliche kommt, dabei sind ihm seine Ticks meist eine große Hilfe, sorgen aber auch immer wieder für Zwischenfälle.Super unterhaltsam und auch ziemlich witzig.Die Serie als solche kann ich sehr empfehlen, 5 Sterne!!!Zur DVD:Einen Stern habe ich abgezogen, da diese DVD-Ausgabe einfach nicht das Non-Plus-Ultra ist.Wäre sie nicht so günstig, hätte es nur 3 Sterne gegeben.Der Ton der ersten Folgen ist nicht besonders gut, aber ausreichend.Dies ändert sich aber bald und die Qualität ist dann absolut in Ordnung.Zur Sprachauswahl:1. Staffel: Englisch, Französisch, mit Untertitel in Englisch2. Staffel: Englisch, Französisch, Deutsch!!! mit Untertitel in Englisch3. bis 5. Staffel: Englisch ohne Untertitel.Dass es für die Staffeln 3 bis 5 nichtmal für einen Untertitel gereicht hat, ist wirklich sehr schade, aber da man ja die ersten beiden Staffeln untertitelt ansehen kann, hat man Zeit, sich in die Serie reinzuhören.Wer des amerikanisch-englischen gut mächtig ist, dürfte hier auch keine Probleme haben.Es gibt übrigens auch ein paar Specials zu sehen.Fazit: Der Preis ist einfach unglaublich gut und daher ist diese Sammlung für alle, die gut Englsich verstehen, den Kauf absolut wert.
Monk season 1-5 a Christmas present that lasts 'til Easter.
An excellent series my wife and I enjoyed so much that we had to buy it. It has just the right level of wit to satisfy our quirky British sense of humour(which is quite stange for an American TV series). Tony Shalhoub's acting is what makes the whole thing work, his performace is always filled with subtle nuances so that even though the character he plays would be quite disturbing to meet in real life, you always find yourself feeling for him in the situations he finds himself in.The plots of the stories are not terribly deep or complicated, but that isn't the point. The character of Monk is what you find yourself engaging with. In many ways he has the same hang-ups as anyone else, it is just that they are much more extreme and the character of Monk shows these feelings even when a normal person would say nothing.The DVDs are nicely presented without too much 'legal' nonsense at the beginning and no complicated menues to get through.Our only quibble is with the bonus features where the volume seems to have been mixed incorrectly so that the background music is loud while the people talking is almost inaudible. AS we bought the DVDs for the TV programs themselves this isn't too much of an issue, but for anyone interested in the background information to the characters and shows this might be a reason not to buy.
Economic, Quality Entertainment
Monk is a terrific show about Adrian Monk, A former detective, turned consultant after the death of his wife Trudy. He has a bad case of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and from the start of the series one hes coming out of his house more often with the help of his assistant Sharona. Hes solving crime after crime for the San Fransisco Police Department using his "unique talents." Hey it's a blessing and a curse!The show itself is great. However lets just chalk up the differences between this and getting the show individually on DVD. For a start your saving alot of money. Buying series 1-5 costs almost £78. So take the pride your watching a terrific show for a mere cost of what its worth.On the bad scope of things however there are some differences and if your willing to bare them this set will be great for you. the disc set themselves come in on quite sturdy cases which are black. (They also are finger-print magnets!) Another thing is theres no really clear identification on which series is which but all that requires is the opening of the case which is hardly taxing. The last point is that there are no episode guides. Although on the back of the box it does have an episode list in very small writing. It may also interest people that the DVD's are in a 4:3 ratio.In conclusion your saving a fair wad of cash buying this set. (That being especially true if you bought them elsewhere.) The quality of the show is excellent and the discs are 100% the same as the singular counterparts. Although if you really need the things like episode guides and artwork on the casing this isn't the set for you.
Great Entertainment at a Great Price
This boxset is such a bargain - at this price for 5 seasons who can complain?As a series it is very entertaining with some interesting characters that you become familiar with during the 5 seasons, Monk's detective genius coupled with/ hampered by his obsessive disorder makes for a believable character. I personally wasn't aware of poor picture quality when I watched this but then perhaps the more discerning who have something to compare this series with are able to make a more critical judgement....In short: a very enjoyable series....and season 6 is out !
