Doesn't lower the vacuum noise at all but it does stop exhaust dust. Doesn't seem to reduce vacuum efficiency. I had a moment of frustration when I thought it didn't fit my vacuum then realized there was two couplings attached together. Don't know what the second coupling is for.

I had hoped for some noise reduction from my Dewalt shop vac but not convinced that there is any success in that area. It does significantly diffuse the exhaust blast which is a great improvement as I’m not blowing more dust around the shop. The fit was perfect. I have a Dust Deputy above the vacuum so the diffuser filter should last a long time as minimal sawdust reaches the vacuum tub.
