5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Timer!
Easy to install, functions perfectly, and a cheap upgrade considering it can help prevent a fire in your house. Our home is older and had only a standard light switch for the bathroom fan. Since bathroom fans tend to get very hot after long periods of use, and naturally get very dirty quickly, this upgrade was a must for me. I love the style and the little led light to indicate time selection and it'll flash on the 10 minute button when time is about to run out.
5.0 out of 5 stars My wife absolutely loves these
When I plumb a house I always run a complete hot-water recirculation loop of PEX under each fixture to be used. I then install a recirculation pump near the water heater, and in the past have the outlet serving the pump be controlled by two, three, or even four switches. One major problem. No one ever flipped off the switch after using, and the gas bill actually went up over a non-tankless system.I even put in lighted switches so people would know when the pump was on. They still left them on - must have thought the switch was a cute nightlight. So I contacted the engineers at Leviton and described my needs and asked if they had a solution. They got back to me within two days, and even had a manager do a follow-up to be sure someone had contacted me, and this was their solution.Since my wiring was for using three-way switches I was concerned a timer like this would not work. Easy solution. You simply install two of these and both locations can independently turn on the pump. The time you push has a little green light by the selection, and that shows on the other switch as well. The directions are complete and make wiring easy.Just be aware you will have needed to run either a 12/3 with ground or a 14/3 with ground, or code also allows you to run two 12/2s or two 14/2s. You just have to be certain you have two hot leads (red or black), a neutral (white), and a ground. Don't fudge and potentially cause a bad situation. Now there is an alternative. You can use one of these and their remote switch, which pairs with this timer, It is less expensive, but the drawback is that it only will turn the pump on and off. The time set is determined by this timer, and if the last use was one hour then pushing the remote switch will turn on the pump for one hour, even if you only wanted 15 minutes. Or if you wanted an hour but the timer last was used for 15 minutes. So it has limitations. That is why I chose to install two of these. For larger projects you can install one of these and then multiple remote switches, serving the purpose of a standard four-way switch setup. But you will have the limitation of all remote switches using the last setting on the timer. I do not believe they make four-way timers, but it never hurts to ask. I sort of doubt it though.Anyway, my wife was the chief culprit of leaving on the pump and she had gotten to hate having instant hot water. After these were installed I got a big hug and was told these are the best thing I've done on the house. Strikes me as a bit of an overstatement. So for my farmhouse remodel I have two more of these to use for that recirculation pump. I get the two-hour version because that is about the length of the dishwasher cleaning cycle before it switches to drying mode.Great little devices, and mine have worked perfectly.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for our needs.
The install was simple but I work with house electrical all the time. I installed two of these in my bathrooms after installing ultra quiet exhaust fans. We couldn't tell if the fans were on or not so we needed timers. The actual push button switches are delicate in my opinion. You push very lightly and the switch is engaged, you push hard and the whole switch feels like it is "bending" inside the body of the whole switch. Only guessing at this though, this might be what is causing other buyers product to fail quickly, too hard on the switches. Actual buttons could possibly fix the overall failure.Mine are still working find with no problems.
5.0 out of 5 stars Wall Timer
Good Decora style. Easy to install. Works well.
5.0 out of 5 stars great fan timers for the bathrooms
I installed 4 of these in my bathrooms for automatic fan timers. They were super easy to install as a DIYer with lots of electrical experience. If you aren't comfortable doing your own electrical work then by all means hire a professional. The timers have been working now in my house for about 6 months at the time of writing this review and they work perfectly. I like that I can pick different times and that there is a visual indication on the timer about how much time is left before it will shut off (the LED next to the time value changes as it goes from 10m left to 5m left (for example)). I bought the 5-10-15-30 model and those times work well for me for a bathroom.
4.0 out of 5 stars Works great, but always has an LED on
The LEDs for which time is selected are nice, but it would be good if the "off" setting didn't have a light - there's always a bright green LED on. The switch works great, though - using on an exterior LED light
5.0 out of 5 stars Slim design fits in older metal boxes
We installed these on bathroom fans, so you can turn it on when you shower and walk away without needing to remember to come back and switch them off. We bought two to replace timers from another brand that failed after a few years of use. We have an older home with the small metal electrical outlet boxes, which makes fitting anything with modern functionality in there difficult (and probably not very safe). These fit quite handily in those small metal boxes, and they were super easy to wire up with the provided instructions. Highly recommend!
5.0 out of 5 stars good for 3 wire installs
works great and easy to install if you know what you are doing
Works grezt and easy to install using 2a option.
Got 3 DT104 and 1 DT204, all for bathroom fans to ensure more time, up to 4 hours ( DTx04), to vent shower humidity. Wired all using option 2a as if neutral not present in box. So joining green and white together to ground. Actually using the neutral (2b) didn't work, fan timer never turned off. Easy to install. On inital power up takes 5-8 seconds to setup (might be on) then switches to default off mode.Note why you might want a DT204. Model 'DT1xx' means simple on/off timer switch. DT2xx means a 3-way switch (controlled by either of 2 switches). Where I live, at least one upstares bathroom fan MUST have a 3-way switch controlled downstairs to vent smoke (kitchen/fireplace). So I needed one DT204 also for that one bathroom. Was also simple. It is still a deep switch to fit in the box, but not as deep any many.
Excellent product!
I have this switch on my bathroom fan. No longer do my kids leave the fan on all day. The timer is excellent! Easy to install and works perfectly. Highly recommend!
As described
It works good
Does the job
Very happy with my purchase
Not what I expected
The description said it didn’t need 3 wires, but it had 3 wires plus ground. The work around was to connect neutral and ground together (according to the instructions) which should work in most cases but I was using this switch for a bathroom fan that was protected by a GFI which doesn’t like it when the ground and neutral touch. I had to send it back.
