5.0 out of 5 stars Nice and useful
I mix these with a few different spices and they smell wonderful!
5.0 out of 5 stars A Fine Example of Chinese Black Cardamom
These are the larger of the two main species of so-called black cardamom. This type is Amomum tsao-ko, used in Vietnamese and Chinese cooking, while the smaller and slightly more intense species Amomum subulatum is common in Indian cooking. Neither should be confused (like another reviewer did) with green cardamom, which tastes quite different (it's also used in Indian cooking, but also some Western baking and desserts).I've quite happy with my purchase. These have the smoky/menthol/spicy scent and not-at-all sweet taste I expect, and I'm drinking a tea I made with a single (ground up) pod as I type this. The price I paid was an incredible value for a pound of perfectly good spice pods.

1.0 out of 5 stars Smells Terrible
It smells terrible, making it impossible to eat. Don't purchase it. The seller does not provide refunds.
1.0 out of 5 stars Cardamom
Smells bad, tastes bad, buy green cardamom instead. Green is what they use for baked goods and Indian food.
