Definitely helps backing up along with using your mirrors. Would rate 5 stars as it works well in the day and has quality night vision. However, the camera can easily move vertically when unloading your vehicle if you bump it with a leg, bag or anything else. This pivot point is held with a screw and does a good job of not moving around when driving around. Would be useful to have a better way to lock in the camera angle and avoid regular adjustment after using your trunk/liftgate. The installation is fairly easy and the cable is long enough for a Suburban so it should work for 99% of vehicles. Good value camera and multiple mounting options for just $99.

I purchased the Kenwood back up camera kit with mounting hardware so it would be compatible with the Kenwood head unit already installed in my van. Unfortunately, I had to order a backup camera wire kit from a different vendor to complete the install. The wires that came with the camera were 1 RCA, 1 Red wire labeled ACC wire, 1 black ground wire. All the wires were the same length about 20 feet. These wires would be a good choice for a forward-facing camera NOT a backup camera. Check out any YouTube install video for backup cameras, it is obvious that the wires included will not work for a backup camera installation. For spending $100.00 the kit should include the appropriate back up wires to complete the installation in addition to the supplied front camera wires. After all this Kenwood kit is listed as a backup camera kit. A customer should not have to purchase additional wire kits. The kit had several camera mount options, but I had intended to use the license mount when I made the purchase. I cannot speak to the camera picture quality since I am still waiting for the install kit. Knowing what I know now I would not have made this purchase.
