I was going to weld up my own tongs for a #6 crucible, but at this price, with 2 more crucibles, It would have been a foolish endeavor. The hardware looks perfectly adequate for aluminum, zinc, and tin.I'll see how they hold up with red alloys, and I expect them to be fine as steel is not hot-short, so should maintain strength at a red heat.All in all, you get a lot for a little with this setup, and the crucibles have rounded edges, which makes them less prone to be chipped than many competitors.

These items are OK I guess....one of the crucible is obviously been repaired (see pictures) and the tongs seems to be a bit weaker than I'd like. The main issue I have is the repaired crucible being shipped to me ....not sure I trust it enough to use it

This is a particularly long set of tongs made specifically for the 6kg (12.5 lb) crucibles. It is sturdy enough to easily handle these heavy loads, but make sure you’re ready for the full weight before you try moving molten metal - you don’t want to be dropping it on the way to the mold. Long enough to keep you well away from the hot parts. I am very happy with these.

The basic design works very well and holds my crucible solidly. Long enough to cut the radiant heat load on the gloves down, short enough for me to handle the weight at the end.I like that the handles are removable to make it shorter for storage.The center pivot point on mine was a rivet, not the bolt as shown. I'd really prefer the bolt as you can clearly see it's not going to fail. The rivet doesn't instill much confidence, but I don't pour often and, if it shows any signs of failure, it's easily replaced.Value is a tough one on this. Most metal casters make their own tools from scrap for a fraction of the price advertised, but it does take time, effort, and usually a welder. You are also pouring molten metal, so a bad design or poor work on your homemade tool is not all that conducive to a pain-free life.

They grip the included crucibles very securely. Highly recommend these if you're using tongs that grip around the lip of a crucible on only one side.
