5.0 out of 5 stars Good for emergencies
I got this fire blanket to keep in my emergency pack. I have not used it yet, hope I never have to, but am glad to have it. It is fairly heavy, about 4x4' and all edges are sewn/hemmed. It folds up back into the red storage pack without too much difficulty. I did hold a lighter to it just to see what would happen and it didn't melt or discolor. It is reassuring just to know I have it ready for emergencies.
5.0 out of 5 stars Hard to test, but is what is listed
Folded tight, hard to remove and replace in bag. But appears to be as listed.
5.0 out of 5 stars Peace of mind
As others have said, I hope I’ll never need this, but I feel better knowing it’s right there to use. I mounted it in an unobtrusive spot on a wall in my kitchen near the stove with a Command hook and pray I’ll keep my wits about me to remember it’s there and retrieve it if I ever need it.Biggest pros for me:It’s reusableIt doesn’t make a huge mess like extinguishersI plan to buy a couple more for my house and car, and maybe some as gifts. Peace of mind in a small package!
4.0 out of 5 stars 3x3 size is a smaller than expected
This is smaller than I expected it would be. It is about 3 foot by 3 foot. It wouldn’t cover you in the case of a fire. It might be big enough to cover a small child. I wanted to put this in my car in case of a car accident with fire, but it really isn’t big enough to protect your whole body, or even half your body, if you caught on fire in your car. It would work well to put in your house, to wrap around someone who got caught on fire, or to smother a small fire. It seems to be well made. It’s a tightly woven type of fabric. It’s heavier than it looks, from the picture, but it’s not too heavy. It would fit well into a camping pack, in case your campfire got away from you. It folds down relatively small- to about 12 inches by 6 inches. You can, with some difficulty, get it back into the carrying bag it came in. Overall, a good purchase for safety, but just be aware it isn’t big enough to throw over yourself to protect you from fire. It would be big enough to put out a small fire that got away from you, though.
5.0 out of 5 stars Provides peace of mind, especially because of my 3D Printing and Laser Engraving Hobby
I have multiple 3D printers and also recently acquired a laser engraver, both have the potential to start fires if not maintained properly. I always keep a fire extinguisher in the room, but should there ever be a fire, using it would destroy anything you point it at and it would make a huge mess.Enter the fire blanket! It is designed to be dropped on top of whatever is on fire, and smothers the fire by preventing oxygen from reaching it. It doesn't create a mess unlike a fire extinguisher, and it also can be re-used!I already own fireproof pouches for documents and batteries, and this fire blanket is made out of the same material those use. While I can't speak for how well the blanket works as it would require a fire be started to test it, what I can say is it feels like a proper fire blanket and I keep it by my printers and engraver in the event of a problem. So far, this provides peace of mind, and I hope I never have to use it. If I ever do, I'll be sure to update my review with the details and rate its performance over a fire extinguisher.
5.0 out of 5 stars Provides peace of mind
Thankfully, I haven't had to use this blanket. (yet)Well packaged, with a strong hang eyelet, it now lives on the side of my fridge, waiting. The blanket is well made, and apears to be the highest quality material and workmanship.Hoping I won't have use it, I feel better knowing it's there.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent safety tool for the home and car
This is an ideal tool for use in the kitchen, car and, perhaps, campground. The blanket appears to be well constructed and fit for purpose, consisting of a quality, flame-retardant woven fiberglass mix. I like the packaging as well. It rests in a pouch with 2 pull tabs at the bottom that facilitate quick access. This blanket would be useful for wood, liquid, grease and, perhaps, an electrical fire. That said, the blanket can only do so much depending on the size and intensity of the fire. Therefore, while we hope to never have to use it, combining the blanket with a suitable ABC fire extinguisher seems prudent. All in all, this is an extremely good product to own and a good value to boot. Recommend!
5.0 out of 5 stars Good to know it's there in an emergency
I've seen these advertised online and I know that the Navy has these all over their ships. I was glad to see them on Bolo and at a great price. I can't tell you how it works because I don't want to start a fire to review the product. I hung our bag on the side of our fridge next to the stove and it gives us great piece of mind just seeing it hanging there. We have a fire extinguisher as well just in case but like the fire blanket it has never been used. We like the fire blanket better because it never expires and it much less messy than the conventual fire extinguisher. Everyone should have one of these in their homes.
