5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use
Straight forward and easy to use. Great for hubby who is a very private person and thinks mailing his stuff off will mean it is being tracked!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great for hypochondria!
I’ll be blunt: I’m a hypochondriac. My latest fixation is colon cancer due to the increasing rates of diagnosis in younger adults. I’m not old enough for regular colonoscopies, nor do I have any health markers that qualify me for colonoscopies at my age. Plus I’m not going to go through the bowel prep unless my doctor tells me that it’s time for a colonoscopy. This kit does my brain a world of good through the reassurance of a simple fecal test. My husband and I plan to do one each year until we start regular colonoscopies. We still see our GI doctors annually, take psyllium capsules daily to per our doctor’s recommendation, we drink lots of water, and we work fiber into our diets regularly to reduce our risk of colon cancer. Even if this kit provides a false sense of security, we’re being proactive enough in our daily wellbeing that we’ll recognize them if any red flags arise in the future. It’s just nice to have some sort of tangible “security blanket” to help me combat my anxious thoughts whenever my hypochondria hits. You really can’t put a price on peace of mind.
5.0 out of 5 stars Privacy at home
If you're worried about GI issues I feel this is a great thing to have on hand, especially with 3 tests, you can be sure to get an accurate result. If you get a positive result you can go to your doctor with information rather than waiting. Having to do these through a doctor takes forever is a pain in the butt, no pun intended.
1.0 out of 5 stars Useless
Sorry for the crappy photo, haha, but this was after 15 minutes. Showed nothing. It said after 30 minutes , not to read the test, so just for the heck of it, I put a drop of water over the sample seeing if that would do anything and then hours later it showed 2 lines, so now I don’t know what to think. I followed the instructions, which said to shake well. I’m not sure what it was mixing with because there was only a tiny amount of fluid in the tube (as in a drop or two), but I shook it well and did my 3 drops. Also, my first attempt with the paper they give you to poop on, the poop went right through, so I just got a few paper towels to collect it the next time. Just a waste of my money.
4.0 out of 5 stars Get the two pack!
I needed to do a test, and I went with this one because the price was good and it seemed to be fairly easy to do. Unfortunately, I only bought one and I really wish I had gone for the two pack. After it arrived, I read the instructions and realized that I had to wait a few days to take it because I had recently used an NSAID. On the morning that I was going do the test, I affixed the tissue to the toilet bowl to make sure I was prepared when the time came. Well, I guess the stress of taking the test gave me a bit of constipation, and I never did do a movement that day. It's a good thing we have more than one bathroom, since now I had the sling on there all day, and you have to be careful that it doesn't get wet, which a drop of water did get on the sample tissue. I believe it also says to not do the test if you are constipated, which I became so at the thought of having to do the test. I was able to produce a sample the next day, and I freaked out when I got a positive. But after an hour or so, I remembered the part about not doing the test if you were constipated, which I assume is because it would lead to a misleading positive. Now I'm having another kit sent so I can try again. I strongly recommend getting the two pack, and saving the little bit of cash if you need to do the test twice. Think of the first one as a practice run.
5.0 out of 5 stars Verifiable result
I had a blood test later which matched the negative result.
5.0 out of 5 stars all done in home
No need to send it in you do it all in your home
3.0 out of 5 stars One vial dried up with no buffering solution
I ordered a 2-pack kit. One of the vials had no buffering solution. It had dried up. I used the good vial for a test, and it worked fine. I'm disappointed in the faulty vial.
