I’ve waited purposefully to review this printer by Longer (lk5 pro). After nearly 300 build hours on it and tons of learning curves I can say it definitely has no issues printing. I’ve printed PLA, PETG, ABS and even the notorious TPU filaments through this and though there is some trial and error involved I can say it’s solid. Its stable heat range seems to max at about 250c with the bed able to stay stable at 90c after that it has problems and fails. I am unsure if putting an all metal extruder on with allow it to get hotter for those exotic filaments but as of now I have no need to check that. The build plate is pretty large too at 300D300W400H allowing those bigger and taller prints to fit.It comes pretty much together with just a little bit of build work involved by fairly simple, the hot bed plate is also fairly nice and seems to do a good job although I’d recommend the first print you do, be a scraper as the metal scraper provided can easily dig and gouge the plate if you’re not careful. It does seem to leave a bit of ghosting residue but most of the time a good wipe with 91% propylene alcohol does the trick. (Pro tip keep you bed warm when you do this)Now for the cons, the bed leveling is rough which is normal on most printers. Manually turning the nobs is barbaric in my opinion and with a machine that is a make it or break situation, literally. Prints turn bad if you’re off .2mm sometimes depending on the detail even .1 makes a huge difference and to rely on a piece of paper and my own judgement is crazy in this day and age. Luckily you can buy a autolevel sensor called a BLTouch. However be warned the information on this is very difficult to navigate. You will need firmware from longer which you request via emailing them. Then you will need pronterface software to both enable and calibrate the leveler to your machine. That’s after you become an electrician and wire the sensor into your main board which can brick the printer if you are careful and ground the sensor incorrectly. And there is a dozen main board designs so you have to be careful not to read the wrong schematic as well.I will say the customer service is top of the line though, and helped me through all of my troubles so don’t turn away or get frustrated if something doesn’t go how you wanted it too. They will help you along the way and are very friendly in doing so.In closing it’s a great beginner printer at a good cost point and is highly upgradable as well, for the price you’re getting such a good. Buy an enclosure for it!!! I cannot stress it enough these plastics thrive in them and it makes such a better quality print.Hope all this helps and have fun!
5.0 out of 5 stars Efficient and Reliable 3D Printer
I recently purchased the 3D Printer from Bolo, and I'm thoroughly impressed with its performance. Setting it up was not hard, thanks to the clear instructions provided. The print quality is excellent, producing detailed and precise models every time. What I appreciate most is its reliability; it consistently delivers consistent results without any issues. Overall, it's a fantastic investment for hobbyists and professionals alike. Highly recommended!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Tech Support
I bought this printer based primarily price and reviews. It was packed surprisingly well in foam when it arrived. The included assembly instructions left a lot to be desired, but there were a lot of online videos that got me thru the process. It has very sturdy construction. When finished I loaded into the printer one of the items on the included SD card. It printed for about 20 minutes then stopped. I was unable to correct this problem on my own, so I started trading emails with tech support. Eventually tech support decided the problem was in the Hot Bed, and sent me a replacement Hot Bed. This arrived in 10 days from China. Installing the replacement was simple. I tried printing the little cube again and this time it worked perfectly. I don't write reviews, but in this case tech support deserves public accolades for their help.
4.0 out of 5 stars Not a good choice for beginners.
I’d say this printer is for a more experienced person that’s used 3D printers. It works great, but being new to them this was not the one for us. I ended up ordering another one that was easier for beginners. It is a great value for the money. It has a very nice build volume. The prints do take quite a long time, but that may have been on our part since we had no clue what we were doing. The bed does not self level.
5.0 out of 5 stars So worth it!!
So I decided to get this printer because my other one wasn’t doing too well. And I liked the large print bed and of course the price point. As I mentioned, this isn’t my first 3D printer but it’s the first one I had to assemble, my previous one is quite old now and was designed to be “out of the box” ready.Admittedly the assembly took longer than expected but I got through it with the help of YouTube. But once it was assembled, and leveled it worked great. Very impressed with the print quality, but also how quiet it was compared to my old one. Very happy with my purchase I honestly might get another one.
1.0 out of 5 stars Starts failing after a few hours of printing
Pros:-Comes with SD card/USB adapter to transfer instructions between pc and printer, so no need to buy new cables-Easy to assembleCons:-Filament that comes with it wasn't great, recommend swapping that out-Calibration has to be done manually-Tests pre-downloaded on SD card are okay, but I would recommend pulling some off Thingiverse instead-Software installation package on the SD card doesn't support the LK5 Pro. Was forced to find an alternative-For some reason after the first successful calibration cube was printed I've had different printing failures each time. Tried changing multiple print settings to no avail-Heatbed began to warp during a print which completely undermined any leveling and other calibrations I had done. A full replacement is required-Nozzle began just forming blobs of filament instead of allowing it to flow despite the numerous temperature adjustments tried which also got the nozzle stuck on the print itself. Tried cleaning multiple timesOverall, I would just recommend getting a different printer altogether since this one seems to have an entire book series of reliability issues. It was not worth the 2 days of work I put into trying to get my prints to come out without having a myriad of issues since some prints can take hours or even days to complete only to come out wrong. Not worth $300 despite its larger print area and you can probably slice larger builds into smaller individual prints for smaller 3D printers which are probably more reliable.
