I order twice because it such a cute statement piece for your decor. Was disappointed when my second item came the wood platform was split. I’m still waiting for my refund. No replacement was offered.You may ask Would I purchase again yes, with hope it’s not damaged.

This is a gorgeous hourglass that would look great it any room of the house. Due to its time-keeping purpose, I think anyone would benefit from having one of these on their shelf, coffee table or nightstand. It gives the space a sense of tranquillity and I feel the falling sand reminds us to slow down and to take a step back from the sometimes fast-paced and crazy world around us. Whether you need to time your study session, your kids reading time, screen time or bath time, this hourglass makes for an easy solution to making sure you don't "overdo it", no matter what you need to time. No need to keep track of time? Having an hourglass serves a more mindful purpose as well. I have found that just flipping it upside down and watching the sand slowly fall through the center really helps to unwind your mind and brings an opportunity to meditate. It is important for us all to remember that taking moments like these help in creating a healthier life, momentarily removing ourselves from the stressors of everyday life. That being said, this would also make a great decoration for your office, desk, cubicle, or studio. I also feel that therapists and teachers could greatly benefit from having one of these on hand for their patients and students to use when boredom sets in or when emotions and focus need re-centered. Its many uses as a timekeeping tool and its ability to aide in ones mental health due to its calming properties, makes this a great choice for anyone, for literally any reason. The on!y reason it did not receive a 5-star rating from me is because when I timed the hourglass alongside my kitchens digital egg timer, the sand continued to flow past the 1 hour mark. It was about 85-90% complete at 1 hour. Keep this in mind if using it for specific time keeping purposes. Otherwise, I highly recommend this hourglass. It's made very well with durable materials, perfectly sized for anyone to hold in their hands, kids included, and the black sand offers a range of metaphysical benefits. Black sand has many useful (spiritual) properties including grounding, cleansing, protection, balancing, healing and aiding in manifestation. Although the hourglass is a very old time keeping tool, it still looks extremely modern and stylish. It is truly a good choice for yourself or as a gift. Would 10/10 purchase again!

I think this was really well made. It arrived perfectly, the colors are dark and rich. I have it on the top of a writing desk and I think it looks great!

This is a beautiful new modern display piece for my living room and I love the acacia wood frame with bronze accents.It has the look of a heavy glass and metal sand timer, but the glass is delicate and thin, and with the wood and black stand-offs being hollow it's surprisingly lightweight.The sand is very very fine grain and high quality filtered black sand. I timed it and it's almost spot on at an hour for my hourglass to empty after 1 turnover.Little thin foam pads are stuck above and below the glass vial, so after tightening the screw it's very secure and help firmly in place. Wood is real and has a light veneer - can recommend this as a cool gift for a work desk or fine home display.

This was the perfect decor piece to finish off a home office update. It's timeless and sleek. Well-made not some chintzy decoration. Does not keep a strict hour, but it's close enough by a few minutes. My 5 yo is mesmerized by it and it does give her a good visual for how long an hour is.
