5.0 out of 5 stars The best most unusual pure taste!
This product is amazing! The depth and complexity of the tastes everything that I was craving looks a bit different than how you see it on TV but you can break it in chunks and irregular pieces yourself. The smell is off the charts amazing! I think it's a great value for the money.
1.0 out of 5 stars Tasteless and yuck
Gur lovers shouldn’t buy this
3.0 out of 5 stars Good, unrefined product but no proof of organic status
JAGGERY IN GENERAL If you've never used jaggery, it's sort of like brown sugar but with a bit less sweetness. Brown sugar is refined sugar with molasses added, but jaggery is the unrefined sugar that never had molasses removed from it. It has more iron and other nutrients so it's a bit better for you than than refined sugar. Apparently jaggery also has more moisture than brown sugar so you may need to play around with it a little if you're trying to use it as a brown sugar substitute in a recipe. Since it's also a bit less sweet, you may need some extra jaggery to preserve the sweetness in the recipe. Or, just find some yummy jaggery recipes online. I like using it in bread with just a tiny bit extra thrown in. With bread dough, I don't have to worry about any extra moisture it might have since I'm kneading it for the feel. You can soften the cubes by heating them for a few seconds at a time in the microwave. Jaggery is also great for vegans or vegetarians who wouldn't want their sugar to be refined with bone char.MB HERBALS JAGGERY This jaggery is shaped into what can roughly be called cubes. Since it is an unrefined product, you can see variations in the chunks. When I received the jaggery, it was soft and crumbly, but, like brown sugar, it can harden (not a problem - microwave it if it does). It has a good flavor. Unfortunately, I only have one complaint about it, and that's dropping its score by two stars. While it says it's organic, there is no proof of it. No USDA organic seal and no certifying agency listed. It might still be organic or it might not fall under the USDA definition of organic. I don't know. If you read the listing for the product, they seem to be using a different definition of the term "organic" than you'd expect from grocery items: something produced by a living thing. If purchasing, I recommend considering it as a conventional product and comparing prices based on that. I'm perfectly happy with this jaggery if I'm not counting on it to be USDA-organic.
4.0 out of 5 stars good healthy sweetener
This is a good way to sweeten your food, a more healthy way. It's considerably expensive, but would be justified, if this is really organic. However, there is no label, nothing to prove, that this is really organic.
5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good jaggery
You can find jaggery for much cheaper at a local Indian/Desi shop, but this one tastes a good bit better than most. You taste less of the molasses and more of just simple sweetness from sugar, but it also isn't cloyingly sweet. The cubes in this jar are relatively moist and malleable, so keep that in mind if you're baking with this. I do think that this jaggery offered by MB Herbals is better off incorporated into drinks as a sweetener rather than being used to make traditional baked/cooked sweets.I would recommend this jar to anyone who is unfamiliar with jaggery and looking to try it out. If you're already familiar with jaggery and enjoy it, then you're gonna be better off buying it for cheaper locally.
5.0 out of 5 stars Rich in natural sweetness
The cubes are rich in natural sweetness, offering a healthier alternative to refined sugar. I liked their flavor and versatility—great for sweetening tea, coffee, or even desserts. Knowing they contain no preservatives or chemicals makes them even better.
3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting flavor
This is a really interesting sweetener flavor. I've never tried jaggery before so I didn't know what to expect. It's different than anything else I've tried and it's hard to describe. It's sweet but not too sweet, but also has a flavor to it that I can't put my finger on. At first, I didn't know if you were supposed to eat it like fudge because it's soft and you could. I did try just biting into it and you definitely can if you just need a sweet flavor fix, though I'd probably never have more than 1 piece like I normally want with fudge. Then I tried it in my peppermint tea. However, as it's a solid like fudge, it doesn't melt quickly like sugar or a sugar cube. The first time I didn't stir enough and didn't realize I just had a glob of it at the bottom of my cup. After than, I've made sure to stir a lot. As for the taste, that flavor I can't define definitely comes through in the tea and even though I've had many cups of it,I still can't tell you if I really love it or not. It's definitely interesting and I'm glad I tried it but not sure I'll order again.
4.0 out of 5 stars ORGANIG doesn't give a great Initial impression
When I receive household items with misspellings it doesn't elicit the same reaction as when I receive items I may be consuming. Organic is misspelled. When the first word on the container is misspelled it makes me wonder what else was missed during production. Is it safe to consume? I rolled the dice.I didn't have any reactions after sampling some in my coffee. It's sweet just like regular sugar. I suppose it's probably fine.
