Recently went on a 3 day backpack hunting trip and brought these Bison Bowls with me. Heated them up using the boiling water from my JetBoil and wow were they tasty!I took spices with me because I was skeptical of this freeze dried food and I ended up not needing to add anything to it. The portion size was great too! at first the bags seem small or not enough to fill up a grown adult but I was wrong, one bag made enough for 2 full servings!I will be using Peak for all my camping and backpacking trips from now on.

I’ve had a lot of Peak Refuel meals in the past and generally keep a lot of them around for food storage but also camping/backpacking & Overlanding trips. I decided to try some of the Mendes meals and was blown away. One thing I love about them especially in the venison country casserole is the veggies. I don’t know how they do it but they always hydrate and taste a lot better than others on the market. And when I placed my order it showed up the next day which is super quick and convenient. There’s no doubt in my mind that Peak Refuel are the best freeze dried meals in the industry. And I’m glad I can order Mendes meals anytime I want too and have them show up quickly.

I read things too fast sometimes and didn't notice that the Bison meat was powdered. I'm sure there's a reason for it but was hoping for some actual pieces of meat like Peak's Beef Stroganoff. Anyway that's the reason for taking away one star, other than that this is a tasty meal and really love the actual biscuits it has in it that at least makes up a little for the powdered Bison. I do wish Peak would add a few more vege's to a few of their meals. Even so, this is a nice meal to enjoy after you've been hiking or camping or just as an easy meal at home, it's a good idea for you to order what you think you'll like and try them at home. Peak is still the best dehydrated meals you can buy and they're adding new ones most of the time. I've got their peach cobbler waiting to be tried. Another reason to sample the meals at home is if you may want to add anything to them, for the most part they don't need additions but I like ground pepper for the Stroganoff, a bit more mild curry for the Curry Chicken, parmesan for the Pesto etc. But you gotta love those biscuits, I break them up if they're still whole - before adding the water of course.

3.0 out of 5 stars Underwhelming, when most PEAK meals are fantastic
I thought I'd love this one, but it is very underwhelming to me. A subtle chili like flavor, but strikingly bland. Most PEAK MREs are outstanding, and this one is a big 'meh'. Add to that the fact that it's pricier, certainly so what's his name Chad Mendes gets his cut for his name being on it, and it's a hard pass from me from now on. A shame too, since PEAK's biscuits & gravy and beef stroganoff are some of the best MREs on this planet. I will never buy this one again.

I ordered this a while ago and decided to give it a try today.The pros:Packaging is appealing.Preparation is very easy.Enough to 2 people or 1 very hungry person.It will fill you up.The only thing I didnt like was the lack of flavor. This is very bland and has a weird after taste.For the price, the value isn't there and would only recommend for dire no food scenerio.
