5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent picture!
I purchased this to replace an Optoma UHD-65 with a stuck pixel. I was hesitant due to reviews stating that LED was not as bright as traditional bulbs. I have to say, this is a complete non-issue in my light controlled theater room. It's more than bright enough and I had to dial it back quite a bit to get a well calibrated picture. The reds were still too bright but luckily there's an adjustment for each individual color. The color reproduction is exceptional and the LG picture holds up much better under ambient light than the Optoma did. Casual viewing is quite acceptable with a fair amount of light in the room when watching sporting events, etc. Of course movies, which typically have more dark scenes, will always look better in a darkened room. The backlit remote is quite nice, and the virtual onscreen mouse combined with the built-in smart features is very handy. The ability to watch Netflix, Vudu, Disney+, YouTube, Prime Video, etc. without having to fire up the Xbox is something I'll use more than I expected to. If only there was a Hulu app, all my streaming needs would be met. There are ample picture adjustments available, although not all of them are well documented (ie. Dynamic Color, Super Resolution). It may take some experimentation to determine exactly what these do. For now, I've left them turned off.The LG definitely has a shorter throw than my Optoma did, requiring me to move the projector about two feet closed to the screen. But it is much smaller, lighter, and quieter than the Optoma. The decision to separate the power block into a separate unit is unusual. I can understand why they did it (smaller form factor), but for a ceiling mount it's awkward. If you're mounting on a shelf instead, it's probably a net benefit. All in all, I'm very pleased with this purchase. I watched a number of reviews prior to purchasing, and most of them commented what a good deal this was at $1800. To get it under $1000 was a fantastic bargain.
5.0 out of 5 stars Sleek 4k laser projector. Its a keeper!
The media could not be loaded. Pros:- This is a very sleek looking projector that delivers great picture quality with 4K resolution and HDR support.- The modern retro-like look feels like a decorative art piece in your home. Its really so nice to look at! The auto keystone works well and it also has plenty of manual settings to fine tune it as well.- It has a pretty decent home screen menu with the usual app options for popular streaming services etc. It has multiple connectivity options like HDMI and USB Type-C.- The colors are accurate, and the image is bright and clear. Its impressive a device of this size can offer that level of crisp 4k quality.Cons:- Built-in speaker isn’t very powerful. You'll have a better experience by hooking up some external speakers for better sound. It can easily connect to Bluetooth speakers etc.- This should go without saying but yes you do need to use it in a fairly darker room to get that full range of contrast in the image. But I have used it during day time before in a slightly darker room and it was still very watchable.- The remote range isnt the best. You would have to point directly around the back of the projector. There are ways around it though apparently with the Universal LG wifi remote or an IT emitter extender.(edit 07/20/24): turns out it doesnt have to be so direct. Even if the remote is in closer proximity it will likley pick it up)Update 10/15/24:After using it for several months now, I am still enjoying it. The only real complaint I have is the lack of apps available. Wish it had Crunchyroll and Max but it's not a deal breaker for me since I can just use chromecast.Overall: It's a keeper! I love how it looks and how easy it is to carry around as well. It's an aesthetic decorative piece that doesnt compromise in quality.
4.0 out of 5 stars Versitale and dynamic
Placed the projector in the dedicated movie room. I can control the light in the room very well and the brightness is perfect for that environment. If you wanted to place this in a living room or in a room that has more light it may not work since the brightness is not the best. The picture quality is great and the user interface as well as the menu is very easy to use and the projector was basically set up ready to go immediately. Overall it's a great deal for what you get in my opinion.
Excellent but no Netflix
Excelente image and easy to connect to my jbl sound system by Bluetooth. Despite has Netflix button on the remote control i couldn’t find on the apps to install. Weird because i have a LG TV and have more app options.
