5.0 out of 5 stars ProtoArc wireless trackball mouse, EMO1 NL is AWESOME!
Very well built, comfortable, and works great! Well worth the price.I've had a Logitech M570 for years and it worked good but this new ProtoArc blows it out of the water.I don't think there is a single thing about it that I don't like.It tilts from 0 to 20 degrees making it very comfortable. It also has adjustable DPI for custom cursor movment. Silent clicking, Very smooth control, Page up/down buttons, and a nice scroll wheel. (No it's not silent but it's not noisy either. It has a slight clicking sound.Another feature is something that I really like and haven't noticed anyone posting about. If you push down on the wheel, you can scroll up or down, fast or slow depending on how you move the track ball.I used that feature a lot with my old mouse and was happy to see that this mouse does that. The last thing I want to mention is that my old mouse took a AA battery. This one is rechargable.I love it!
4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Budget Mouse
It's a very good mouse for the price. Doesn't feel cheap, has nice heft to it. Has lots of features. I like the fact that you can plug it in to charge and use it at the same time.I've been using trackball mice for decades, off and on, at first they do take some getting used to and often a good amount of time to adjust sensitivity to get it just the way you want it. This one out of the box worked almost just right for me. I just checked the ProtoArch website and there are no drivers or setup options to install. Sensitivity settings are on the mouse itself using the DIP buttons to the right of the ball. This is both a blessing and a curse. Not needing to install software is great, it just works right out of the box (as long as you turn it on before you install the dongle into your computer). It's simple. But then I'm a techie, and I like options that are not normally available thru the basic device options on my computer. Just like this company I need to realize that simple is better, lol.The ball moves effortlessly, zero resistance - is too free flowing a thing? (it's still clean, this will probably change in a couple of weeks or so to let me know it's time to clean the bearings - common for trackball mouse users and eating lunch at the desk at work). The right mouse button seems too easy to hit accidentally in both modes (flat or tilt), not sure if it's because my finger likes to rest at that spot or the button sensitivity. I suppose my proclivity to hit that will likely change over time and use. The scroll wheel is a bit clunky, stiff and not as flowing with gentle ribbing like the Logitech mice I have used, even the older M570. The logi mice wheels are nice and quiet. While this one isn't terribly loud, it's definitely not a Logi. Initially when I bought this mouse I was sure I'd want to keep it tilted to the right and was going to try to figure out a way to make the tilt permanent. Now I kinda like being able to tilt it at will, depending on my hand's mood (remember I like options).Overall the mouse is worth the price! Has some great positives (simultaneous use/charge, free ballin', heft/quality feel, hand comfort, options). The negatives are my own subjectiveness (which I note after reading others comments, I'm not alone). The sensitive right click, the wheel's shortcomings and limited customization, I suspect I will get over in my own time
5.0 out of 5 stars Works great
This trackball mouse works flawlessly with anything I connect it to as long as I plug in the little receiver. I love trackball mice because I don't have to move them around on a pad which is not always the most convenient thing to do. A trackball mouse is stationary. The mouse is rechargeable and charges fairly quickly depending on the charger used. Battery life is good in my opinion.I have had nothing but great experiences with ProtoArc devices and have their foldable keyboard as well which I love when I have to use my phone.
5.0 out of 5 stars Bought this just to spite Logitech, and I'm pretty happy
After having spent $70 on the fancy Logitech MX Ergo trackball, my left button started failing after 3.5 years. I certainly didn't want to spend another $70 on a trackball that doesn't support bluetooth and charges with a micro-USB port. Then I came across the ProtoArc, an obvious clone of the Logitech MX Ergo but with all the features I want. It can connect with both bluetooth and the included dongle, charges through USBC, has an up and down button for tracking speed, a larger 900mah battery (vs 500mah on the Ergo) and cost half the price of the MX Ergo. There doesn't seem to be any compromise in quality. The trackball is very smooth, and the build quality is solid. They also put thought into their packaging to boot. Oh, and the tilt plate on the bottom of the trackball attaches to the whole unit so it doesn't come off. It's a small detail but I definitely like that more. There is one slight complaint however, it's that the scroll wheel is harder to spin, making my finger more tired after scrolling a lot. Hopefully I can just oil the scroll wheel or something to make it spin easier.I've used Logitech trackball for the past 25 years, started with their wired version to the MX570 for both home and the office, followed by the MX Ergo in 2020. Logitech seems to reserve their most expensive products for bluetooth support and for the trackballs there isn't even an option with the premium price. I was forced to use my Macbook that has no USB-A port with an adapter just to have the dongle plugged in. Makes you forget it's the year 2024.I'm glad that ProtoArc stepped up to the plate and offered a great trackball. I'll now keep an eye on what else they offer. Hopefully a keyboard that rivals my Logi K750.
Helps with wrist pain
Great mouse, feels heavy and of good build quality. I like that you can have it flat or tilt it slightly to the right, so you have two options for how you prefer your hand to sit. It's helped with my carpal tunnel/wrist pain from office work. Obviously you can't play shooters with such a mouse, but I use it for non shooter games, and it's been great to be able to do both office work and (most) gaming without pain. The ball rolls smoothly and I found it quick to adjust to the new way of using the mouse. If anything, it feels weird to use a classic mouse now - you can really feel how much your arm/wrist moves, whereas with a trackball mouse you don't need to move your arm at all.Edit: 1.5 months later, the ball did get a bit less smooth moving. I popped it out (pushing the back of a pencil into the hole at the bottom beneath the trackball is a super easy way to do it), cleaned it's recepticle, popped it back in. Took 2 minutes and now it's back to perfect smooth movement. I think you must do this somewhat regularly to keep dust/gunk from slowing the trackball. It was quick and the mouse still works great, so I don't mind it at all.
Comodo e preciso… basta solo abituarsi !
Acquisto stra-consigliato !
Game Changer
As somebody who uses a large display tablet to draw and edit imagers, I use a mouse for additional operations where a digital pen is not as optimum.I've been using vertical ergo mice for years but I wanted to try something different. This EM01 is the great addition to my desk and I'm enjoying not having to move my hand or wrist while operating. While it doesn't sit vertical (The Protoarc EM05 was considered) I find the th20% tilt, is just enough to work for long periods without any pain or discomfort (so far).Using a trackball unlocked muscle memory from my first evert interaction with a computer mouse in the late1980's but I felt right at home after a few mins. The trackball is very smooth and the dpi selector on the side makes it easy to increase and decrease the sensitivity. I also like the seamless switching from pc to laptop to tablet using the button above the scroll wheel. It makes working across multiple devices (which I often do), very easy.Build quality feels pretty good and as It's stationary device, I very much doubt I'll be knocking it off my desk anytime soon. Therefore I expect this to last quite a while.Protoarc, have you just sold me the last mouse I'll ever buy? Time will tell.
Matches the device it competes with at a much lower price point
I recently gave up on my Logi MX Ergo trackball for two reasons - the soft touch coating had degraded over time, and I had never found it super comfortable to use. When looking at replacements I saw the ProtoArc trackballs and assumed they would be cheap knock-offs of Logi products. After taking a gamble on the EM01, I was wrong. The EM01 feels well built and the trackball moves VERY smoothly, even smoother than I remember the MX Ergo to be. The click action is a little mushy/quiet but I prefer that as it makes left and right clicking less fatiguing. It also feels like it fits the shape of my hand slightly better than the MX Ergo.It has a soft touch area like the MX Ergo and time will tell if this will share the same fate after a couple of years of use, but with it costing about 40% less than an Ergo I wouldn't mind just buying a replacement when the time comes.Small cons: the scroll wheel and middle button actions feel a touch stiff to me, but not enough to be a deal breaker. Would also have been nice to have an companion app for customising button/key stroke combos or syncing settings across devices, but again not a deal breaker.Very impressed overall.
