5.0 out of 5 stars I’m glad I got it!
The media could not be loaded. I got this model because I wanted a small stereo to hang in one of my rooms. I remember from the old Bang & Olufsen days when one of their stereo systems was also designed to be wall-mounted. That was so cool to me at the time. So, as soon as I saw this stereo, that old appeal resurfaced, and I had to try out this little music system. After spending a couple of days with it, I allocated some time in my busy schedule for this review. In terms of design and build, it is pleasing to the eye. It is a small unit, and not many mini stereos are designed to be hung on the wall (it comes with no anchors or screws). Of course, it is perfectly fine sitting on a desk too. It is all black, a shiny black at that, and can certainly fit in tighter spaces, making it a good space saver. It looks pretty modern, and its CD door moves up and down to reveal a sleek-looking CD player. It uses an AC 120V external adapter and is not battery-powered. It is made of plastic but is sturdy enough, shiny yet resistant to fingerprints. The construction is solid, not heavy, and easy to move if needed. When it comes to sound quality, as expected in this audio category, the vocals are slightly thinner with a touch of treble distortion, particularly at higher volumes, but nothing too distracting. It features a vertical CD player, which is a bit tricky to insert and even trickier to remove a CD from. I recommend taking your time the first few times until you get a feel for how much force you should use to push and pull a CD from the player. The best way is to carefully work different sides of your CD, making sure not to bend it too much. On the other hand, I just love the plasticky, clickety retro sound and visuals of the central tray going up and down to access the CD player. It has a 40-watt output, a headphone jack, and a radio with 20 presets. The item dimensions are L x W x H: 2.56 x 13.78 x 8.66 inches. The output power is 2CH X 5W. The preset EQ options—classic, rock, pop, jazz, and flat—are accessible from the remote control only. They don’t seem to do much other than adjust loudness levels—the rock setting being the loudest and the flat setting being the most muffled. The rest of them fall somewhere between the first two.The X-bass button is also remote control only. Sleep operations and snooze functions are controlled solely via the remote, which uses 2x AAA batteries. The CD player functions include repeat play, repeat folder, and random play (remote control only). There is also a CD playback programming feature that allows tracks to be played in a programmed sequence. It supports CD, CD-RW, CD-DA, CD-MP3, and CD-WMA. The supported bitrate is MP3 32-320 kbps and WMA 64-160 kbps. There is an FM wire antenna, and it plays WAV and MP3 discs just fine. The Bluetooth is stable and works well. There are no USB ports, but there is an AUX-in port/jack that you can use to connect MP3 players and similar devices. It only has an FM radio with okay quality. The remote control is actually nice, with a rubbery feel to its buttons. The range is average and covers most functions. The central LED display is orange. A clock and an alarm allow the system to turn on automatically, waking you up with a choice of beeping alarm, CD, or radio. It works via the remote control only. BT is fairly simple to set up and use, with Bluetooth version 5.0.The system is easy to set up, a no-brainer. The buttons on the top are somewhat cramped, but all the essential functions are there. I personally like the large orange display, which provides just enough information. It looks simple and beautifully dominates the rest of the shiny black unit. The open/close button is hidden behind the raised CD door, blocking frontal access, so it has to be accessed from the side. I believe that a better design could solve this, perhaps with different shapes or colored buttons on the device. It is very affordable, competitively priced, and largely justifies the cost.I cannot comment on reliability, as I’ve never heard of the brand before, but I understand it is a UK brand, so probably more popular in the UK, EU, and abroad. I’ve never had to deal with customer service. The instruction guide covers all the basics and is well-written, without any grammar or syntax mistakes. The 3-year extended warranty is pretty generous if you register it within 30 days of purchase. To sum it up, I would give it 5 out of 5 stars. In conclusion, despite its shortcomings, this is a terrific-looking unit packed with solid features. It has a somewhat unique, modern style that would suit most decors, whether on the wall or desk. I’m glad I got it.
5.0 out of 5 stars great product
my husband got this slim, great-sounding HiFi100 for me for Christmas ... now I can listen with pleasure and enjoy all of my old CD's again !
4.0 out of 5 stars This is slim lined, easy to use and sounds wonderful
It is nice to find a slim line entertainment product. Most items are usually big, bulky, with lots of flash, just not practical in to days transient life style. Thank you.
