I actually used one to line the sunroof shade in my car, and it dramatically reduced the heat radiating through it and into the cabin.I haven't needed to sue one for emergency warmth or heat rejection, but they appear to be able to do the job nicely. They're packaged very tightly in a small package, so they should be able to be stashed in a pack, a car glovebox, or even a pocket or purse for emergency use.Some suggest they can be used for rescue signalling due to their bright reflective silver surfaces, or as a rain poncho or even small shelter tent if necessary. There many other uses for these blankets, and since they're easy to store and carry, you should get some to keep in your vehicle and at home.

After my father got lost in the woods overnight I have added these blankets to all of our cars for safety in the event of a breakdown, also these are lightweight and easy to stick in a pocket if hiking in the woods.
