5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Comfortable
I got this pillow for a plane trip I took, and it worked surprisingly well! Whenever I tried to sleep on a plane with my head back or tilted onto the wall, I wouldn't get very good sleep and/or I'd have an ache in my neck afterwards - but after sleeping on this, I had no such problems! The material is very soft - it has sort of a velvety-feel. It is very comfortable to rest my head on and sleep. It's also very quick and easy to inflate - just 4 or 5 large breaths to full inflation. Deflating was a little bit trick - make sure you use the 'divot' on the plug to pull it out of the hole, so that the air can escape freely. The only quibble I would make about this item is that once you inflate/deflate it, it's almost impossible to roll/fold/squish back up so that it's small enough to put it back into the bag that it comes in.
4.0 out of 5 stars Hole on the 8th use
I loved this pillow. When used in combo with a neck pillow it makes sleeping forward in the middle row possible. Possible to wake up without a cramped neck, possible to not get squished by the seat reclining in front, and possibly to wake up without numb arms. The bag is too small - so not cool. But inflation is very easy and deflation is relatively easy. I would not travel without it.Unfortunately, it has a hole now. So I must decide if I will replace it or try to find a similar better product. But the outcome is clear - this kind of item is essential for my travel - im just bummed it didn't last very long.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great support for alternative sleeping position
If you can't sleep with your head straight up, this pillow is a great alternative. I'll admit, I was a little embarrassed to start blowing this thing up sitting next to strangers. Once inflated, though, it really doesn't take up much room, and it is great for sleeping in a forward position. I set it upright on my lap and that was the perfect fit for resting my head. Putting my arms through it gave me a comfortable way to rest my arms and kept me from elbowing my neighbors, plus it helped keep the pillow in place. I also tried it sideways on the tray table, which was another great fit. The only drawback (a minor one at that) was how it was hard to get every last bit of air out of the pillow when I tried to put it away. It took a few minutes, but I was able to finally fold it small enough to go back in its little pouch before landing. This is a great pillow for a very low price!
3.0 out of 5 stars Way too bulky to carry around
I returned this. After opening the box, I realized that it would be way too bulky to carry on the plane for my trip to Africa. I saw someone on the plane using something similar and it didn't look very comfortable.
4.0 out of 5 stars Versatile and more comfortable than expected
I was on a red eye flight for 10 hours and there was no position in my seat to get comfortable to sleep. This will be a game changer because it is compact and easy to set up and use. It comes with a pouch which makes it easy to carry. Once removed from all the packaging, I carefully pulled up the cap and blew air into it. At first I thought it would take a while but after a handful of full breaths it was done, wow super fast. I capped the cover tightly and placed it on the sofa and my coddle table to test out. Your head rests over the hole and I liked having my chin into the hole. I have a photo to demonstrate. Going forward I would place some folded up thin towel around the edges to avoid getting a possible line from a long sleep. The holes on the side can be used to place your arms through and is quite comfortable indeed. It isnsturdy and able to hold my weight leaning forward. Both on a train or airplane, there is a small table in front of you and resting this stand up inflatable item will really help me rest a little better. This is a game changer for travel. To deflate gently and carefully pull up the cover and push the flap a little to deflate. To ensure you can put it back in the bag be sure to deflate all the air by folding it along the seams like how you opened it and then fold it to the length of the bag and start rolling foward to oush iut the air from the cap. Sometime you will need to have one finger on the flap so the air can keep coming out. I did it rolling forward then back and got almost all the air out and was then able to fold it back and put it into the bag. It is soft and comfortable and sturdy. Can't wait to use it for my next trip. Can't wait for my kiddo to use it on our next long road trip. So versatile.
5.0 out of 5 stars A Long Haul Necessity
This travel pillow has taken away so much of the discomfort that comes with air travel. It creates a more ergonomic sleep situation while also making a nice little privacy cave. The material is comfortable and has good air circulation, so it doesn't feel claustrophobic at all. I like to watch movies or read books on my phone in it. As of yet, I haven't had any difficulties inflating this or keeping it inflated. It is a bit on the bulky side so I haven't bothered packing it on short flights; definitely worth making space in your bag for it on flights exceeding three hours though.
4.0 out of 5 stars Seems like a good idea. Will update if it turns out to not be.
Testing this out, just at my home desk, I really felt like I could get a nice little nap in here. I've always preferred leaning over a backpack or something to using a neck pillow when I'm sleeping sitting up, but there's no room to lean forward on a plane (at least in coach), so this seems like it should solve that problem. Next time we take a red-eye we will see!I ordered this pillow and another one that's marketed as "upgraded" and is priced at $10 higher. As far as I can tell, they are identical, except that the upgraded one has a different valve. Both valves work fine.Edit: I'm going to have to dock this a star and upgrade the other version a star, because you have to keep your finger in the valve on this one in order to let the air out, which means you basically have to roll it up with one hand. Which is hard enough for a big-handed dude in the comfort of his own home, to say nothing of a smaller-handed person trying to cram all their stuff back into their carry-on at 6am after an overnight flight. I think the upgraded valve is worth it. This is fine, don't get me wrong. But it's hard to roll up with one hand.
Excellent alternative to a neck pillow!!
I used it for a long 14-hour flight, and the pillow was great. It was very quick and easy to inflate and deflate. Compared to a neck pillow this provided way better comfort and support. Only negative is the size. Luckily we flew Qatar airways which has good space between seats but if this was another airline the pillow may have been too bulky to use.HIghly recommend it
Invaluable for travelling economy flights
I have travelled with one of these for many years and I wouldn't be without one now, we all fight over the one we have. This is easily inflatable and takes up very little space in hand luggage (approx. Size of a small bum bag). It inflates quite easily and the best thing is that for safety, it can deflate in seconds. There is a large plug on the side you just push your fingers in and whoosh the air is out. It is a little scratchy at the joints but take a small flannel to cushion you more if needed. I honestly can't recommend these enough.
