2.0 out of 5 stars AJAZZ AKP815 75% Wired Low Profile Mechanical Keyboard with Touch Screen
AJAZZ AKP815 75% Wired Low Profile Mechanical Keyboard with Touch ScreenDesign & BuildThe AJAZZ AKP815 offers a visually appealing setup right out of the box. Despite its lightweight construction, it doesn’t feel cheap, which adds to its overall appeal. The keyboard’s design should seamlessly fit into any setup, whether for gaming or work, making it a versatile choice for a wide range of users.Touch Screen & CustomizationI really wanted to like this keyboard, especially as a potential replacement for my Elgato Stream Deck. However, the initial setup was frustrating. It took me three hours just to find the correct driver, as the one provided in the instruction manual led to a download in Chinese. On the bright side, customer support was responsive, getting back to me within an hour.Once I managed to set up my custom widgets and shortcuts, the touch screen’s performance was inconsistent. Sometimes it didn’t respond to touch, which was disappointing. While the customization options are available, they could be more user-friendly. Despite these issues, it isn’t overly difficult to set up, but it could certainly be improved.PerformanceTyping on the AJAZZ AKP815 is generally smooth and responsive, offering a satisfying experience typical of mechanical keyboards. However, I encountered a significant issue: the number five key doesn’t work. As I’m typing this review, I’ve had to manually spell out “F-I-V-E,” which is frustrating and unacceptable for a brand-new keyboard. This flaw severely impacts the overall usability and reliability of the keyboard.CompatibilityI didn’t notice any major issues with compatibility on Windows. The keyboard seemed to function well, with the exception of the inconsistent touchscreen response. I’m not sure whether this issue is related to the hardware or the software, but it does affect the overall experience. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to test it on a Mac to compare performance.Pros & ConsPros:Very Attractive Design: The keyboard is visually appealing and would be a great addition to any setup, whether for gaming or work.Innovative Concept: The combination of a mechanical keyboard with a customizable touch screen is a forward-thinking idea that should set the gold standard for future keyboards.Cons:Inconsistent Touch Screen: The touch screen’s response was unreliable, which is a significant drawback.Wired Only: I might have ordered the wrong version, but I would have preferred a wireless option for added convenience.Challenging Setup: The touch screen setup was more difficult than it should be, with driver issues that could have been easily avoided.Defective Key: The number FIVE key didn’t work at all, which is a serious issue for a new keyboard.Final ThoughtsThe AJAZZ AKP815 originally retailed on Bolo for $98.99, but I purchased it for $52.99 (and yes, I had to type out "FIFTY" because my FIVE button doesn't work). If I heard that this company overhauled the user interface and improved the quality of the touch screen, I’d be willing to spend as much as $300.00 for it. The concept and design have incredible potential, but the execution falls short, particularly in the areas of user interface and touch screen reliability. If you have more patience than I do, you might be able to turn this into the custom keyboard of your dreams. Unfortunately, I just couldn’t get there with this version.
1.0 out of 5 stars Screen freezes
Well, unfortunately the screen freezez very often. Not to mention the software for said screen is entirely in Chinese.
2.0 out of 5 stars Good conecpt, seemingly no support for updates
initially, the keyboard functioned as expected. Now, after pressing any screen macro or function causes the functionality to freeze and no longer function. I have tried a full reset and checked for any firmware updates. I hope the manufacturer updates the firmware. For now, its just an expensive paper weight.
