5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the AirPods Max
I've owned and used the AirPods Max (APM) since its release. In my opinion, the Ace is a far better alternative.Pros:- Great sound quality, easily comparable to the APM.- In-app EQ for those interested.- Way louder than the APM gets.- The noise cancellation is on par with the APM in my opinion. I was lucky or unlucky that major construction was happening right in front of my house so I had an opportunity to compare the strength of the noise cancellation of both headphones.- Way lighter than the APM, the difference in weight is immediately noticeable.- USB-C. I mean come on.- Actual tactile physical buttons, I'm sick and tired of touch sensitive gestures and motions. They work really well. I find the buttons more to my liking than the APM's crown.- You can connect the ace to multiple devices. You can also pair it to a Sonos soundbar which is a nice touch.- An honest to God On/Off button.- The Ace's case is premium, functional, and compact. I can see myself taking this with me when traveling.Cons:- Some software glitch with iOS18 (Beta) when you change the volume it's not immediately reflected in Apple's music app. I'm sure this is easily solvable with an update when iOS 18 is officially rolled out.- Sonos ruined its relations with its customers by releasing an absolutely terrible app that was clearly and obviously not ready for an official release. The app is clunky, less functional than before, and not intuitive to use. If you rely heavily on the app you may want to hold off and assess whether this purchase makes sense to you. Conclusion: I really love the Ace. It's gorgeous, it sounds phenomenal. It's lightweight. Yes you're not gonna some of the niceties you may get with the APM's deep integration with the Apple ecosystem but the Ace performs well. The 399 dollar price is a good deal indeed.
5.0 out of 5 stars Best Airpods Max replacement I have tried
Apple recently made it quite clear to me they do not care about their Airpods Max customers, and that I needed to look in earnest for a replacement. The Sonos Ace are the closest I have found, better in many ways, worse in others. I currently intend to keep these and sell my (third pair of) Airpods Max before they inevitably break.Good stuff:They're more comfortable, lighter, and better at cancelling high pitched noises. They clamp acceptably. Not quite as good at isolating low pitched noises, but I find high pitched stuff far more annoying, so it is a fair trade off. The ear cups are replaceable. They fit around my ears and are genuinely circumaural. They are smooth feeling, which I like compared to the abrasive feel of the Airpods Max fabric cups. The Ace has an app but does not force you to use it to use the headphones. They also don't have the obnoxious touch controls that so many modern manufacturers use and misuse. They did not put in a bunch of metal for no reason, so they are far lighter on the head. The lack of cold metal on the outside suggests they won't suffer from the condensation problems which will slowly destroy the Airpods Max. I am no audiophile, so I'll just say they sound fine to me.Bad stuff:The physical controls are not as good as the Airpods Max. The volume control in particular is much worse. Connecting to Mac is less convenient. I do not particularly like Sonos as a company.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good Work/Travel Headphones
1. Easy to set up for Bluetooth and a Sonos account. I don’t have other Sonos products so I can’t speak to integration with other Sonos products and handing off between devices.2. Comfortable. I have a large head and the headphone have been comfortable for 7+ hours on the head.3. Battery Life. Seems to be good. No issues with battery life on a 9 hour flight.4. Noise cancelling. Good but not as good as my Bose 700 headphones.5. Audio Quality. Great audio quality. Better than my Bose 700 headphones but not quite as good as my Bowers & Wilkins PX8. The PX8 have much better separation and spacing. The PX8 are also a bit more crisp on the highs and tighter on the bass.6. Look to be a good value for a set of work/travel headphones. I do enjoy listening to music on them. Definitely would recommend. Especially if you can’t stretch to a PX8 set of headphones.
1.0 out of 5 stars Sonos ACE doesn't support its own, key Specifications!!!!, most of the time.
After using these for about a week, my overall impressions.Sound quality is good. But the key reasons I wanted these headphones don't even work as defined on the product page.1. The headphones look ok, nothing amazing, but solid look, the sound is good, the ANC is OK, better than Anker, Not as good as Sony/Bose. The feel is NOT cheap; however, the fit is a little weird. FIT: The headphones work ok as long as I keep my head completely flat and don't look up or down. I looked up to the ceiling and the headphones DO NOT STAY IN PLACE. I tried lying down to test that out. The headphones don't stay in place while lying down, but instead slide down toward the back of the head and the earcups fall off the ears (within about 5 s.)3. The expected functions don't work as expected. a. Lossless bluetooth is essentially a lie (and it was unclear before ordering that there were, probably more specifically what those limitations are.) But ONE chipset that is on only a couple of phones doesn't make lossless bluetooth a real thing. Minimum it should be clear whether that capability would be available BEFORE I PURCHASE !!! b. The ability to toggle my sonos ARC sound to my headphones ALSO DOES NOT WORK. It might work; however, since I do NOT have an apple phone and an APPLE phone is REQUIRED to setup this capability, it doesn't work on my headphones. c. And of course Trueplay is a promised Android capability (*promised for years and NEVER implemented that capability.) So I am now supposed to believe that they will eventually add the ACE toggle to headphones option for Android later??? NO way, I have been down that road before.
Premium Headphones
The Bose 45 are excellent but the Sonos Ace takes it another level well worth the difference in cost and the tv swap feature which is now available on the Ray, Beam 1 and 2 is even more immersive. Sound, noise canceling, Fit, comfort, finish and control functions are top notch. Whether using bluetooth to listen to your tv/music or using the tv swap feature, the sound is premium. 30 hour bluetooth battery life and around 6 hours tv/swap wi fi battery life. The source content will automatically pause when you take the Headphones off and resume when you put them back on. Tv swap now works with both apple/android compatible devices.
¡PERFECTOS!
SONOS ACE
Clear sound experience, the best headset.
Buen producto
