5.0 out of 5 stars Improved from the old version!

    J.L. · August 11, 2024

Once Anker announced that they were releasing new 100W chargers, I was interested on how it would be improved. After purchasing one, I quickly compared the new from the old. As seen in my pictures, Anker has slimmed the charger down by at least taking a 1/3 off but it is a little longer. The weight is definitely lighter. As for performance, the charger charges and powers my devices fine as I do use 3 cables occupying all the ports. Another difference and this may be updated after more usage but the new plug gets warm but hasn't gotten hot as sometimes the older plug gets hot but will need to test that longer. Overall, it charges all my devices as usually with power distribution between them, and its lighter and thinner which helps with space saving when plugging it into a power strip as with the older version, sometimes it gets tight to fit another plug next to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does not charge my MacBook Pro as advertised

    M.S. · October 9, 2024

(This review is for the 100W A2688 model.) UPDATE: AnkerDirect sent me a replacement and it appears to be working perfectly, so I am changing my review :)Original post: I made many attempts to charge my M1 Pro MacBook Pro with it, nothing else plugged in to it. My Mac seems to think it's charging but the battery level just keeps dropping. My Anker 715 charger (Nano II 6W) charges it just fine, although I wanted something that charged at 100W. This is worthless to me. Very disappointed in Anker.

5.0 out of 5 stars Small, well designed and powerful

    S.H. · September 6, 2024

At a relatively light weight and small size, this charger supports very high speed charging, has smartly designed plugs that (they say) make it less likely to fall out of a wall socket - a common issue with these things - and it can (though slowly) even charge a Dell laptop that generally wants a bit more juice. Decent one item to have in your kit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast, reliable, easily mobile, but very heavy...

    J.N. · August 30, 2024

It was a bit pricey for a charging port but this little charger charges fast, it's great looking, easily portable, nice and small to fit in any bag, and performs like a champ! I have to say this, as I don't know much about galium nitride, but this thing is HEAVY! like a sock full of quarters 😳 but overall great buy!

1.0 out of 5 stars Anker is downloading your data with their new "Prime" series

    B.C. · September 15, 2024

I just bought a bunch of Anker items, chargers, hubs, cables, etc... as Anker has always made the best gear. I literally almost bought a bunch of their new Prime gear, chargers including the 250W GaN Prime Charger, and the 27K battery pack, had them in my cart, and since it all ended up being rather costly, I wanted to do a little research, since this was a brand new line. That is when I found that all of these devices are now connected to the web, and include a EULA which gives Anker permissions to download your data. A company that makes chargers, hubs, and cables has absolutely no business accessing my data, none. So, I removed all of those items from my cart, and purchased the best non-Internet connected devices that Anker makes instead, like this item. Do your homework before buying these new Anker Prime devices, and make sure you are comfortable with allowing them them the ability to download your personal data, because that is exactly what their new EULA gives them permissions to do.I also intend on asking my federal, and state, Congressmen and Senators to start an investigation into why a Chinese company that makes charging gear needs access to our data, and everyone else should as well. I have also begun my search to find a new company, from which to buy these sorts of items from, moving forward.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice quality and compact USB-C charger

    D. · October 18, 2024

I have switched almost all my chargers to Anker brand. They are of high quality, compact and reliable. Having this charger allows me to reduce the number or chargers I need to carry when I travel. It is light and can be easily stored in your backpack. The reduced length is much better than previous generation as it can hold better in the wall socket compared to the older ones where is does not stay in place especially when wires were connected. So this new model is better.

5.0 out of 5 stars This charger is " the bomb" for fast charging.

    R. · October 14, 2024

Bought the charger bloc with this, the 737 model. This charging plug definitely gets hot while charging at the maximum stated wattage output. However, this charger definitely charges my Anker charging 24,000 block fast.

    2.0 out of 5 stars Can't continuously output 100W

    D.T. · October 14, 2024

This device, the Anker A2688, just can't deliver on expectations.First off, the good. This device features thicker plug blades which are also half insulated. The insulated portion of the blade is 74 mil, the live part is 61 mil. For reference, the NEMA 1-15 spec calls for a nominal thickness of 60 mil and Anker's other products usually run a bit on the low side (I measured the Anker A2663 at 57 mil). This results in a much tighter fit against the outlet and is less likely to pull out of the wall. Even if it does pull out of the wall slightly, the half-insulated blades means that anything conductive dropped onto the blades won't cause a violent short circuit.Next, the not-so-good. This charger offers Power Delivery 3.1 at 5,9,15 and 20V up to 5A (100W), but PPS only goes up to 11V. This means that this charger is not capable of charging the latest Pixel phones at the maximum charge rate, or other phones which call for PPS of up to 22V.Finally the bad. The Anker A2688 cannot deliver its full rated output continuously. While testing using a 100W load (in this case, an Anker A1340 battery which has a maximum charge rate of 170W), the Anker A2688 delivered 100W (20V 5A) for exactly 12 minutes and 50 seconds, before throttling down to 4.5A (90W). OK, that's not so bad right? Unfortunately, that lasted a grand total of 4 minutes, before throttling down even further to 3A (60W), where it stayed for the remainder of the test. I've attached the Power-Z output graph for those who are interested. The exterior temperature at the time of throttling was 150F, which was very toasty, so this is clearly a case of thermal throttling.Unfortunately it seems as though packing a 100W charger into such a small package leads to passive cooling issues. But hey, it was able to deliver 40 Wh in 30 minutes, which is about 50% of a 14" MacBook Pro's battery and consistent with their advertising!

    Unacceptable customer service

    A.C. · October 15, 2024

Bought on sale for $59.99 and never received an item. The item is now $89.99 and the customer service team refused to reship it/price match. I heard a good thing about Anker but this left a sour taste in my mouth. Never buying product from them.

    overheat

    T.W. · August 17, 2024

Beautifully constructed. But compared to the 2023 Anker 100W charger, this 2024 version get very hot, and then would shut down. This happens when you use your laptop for more demanding tasks such as Photoshop or games. Also when 2nd device is plugged in, even when not for demanding task, the 2nd device is constantly switching between charging and not charging. I really want to keep the new one, because it's smaller and just so well built, but I'll have to go back to the 2023 version.
