5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product I Didn’t Know I Needed!
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I’ve been an audiophile and techie most my life and love testing and comparing equipment especially since my first job as a teen where I had access to a room full of audio equipment with switchers to let customers hear the differences. But since those days, I’ve mostly had to rely on memory when trying to compare my own equipment. I have also always been a fan of the vintage and high end feel of analog meters. I never thought to buy a separate switcher or meter because it seemed impractical but here comes Fosi to solve those two things in one, high-quality, efficient and affordable product! I first learned about Fosi a few years ago when I was looking for a solution to put some extra speakers I had to use in my bedroom with emphasis on getting the best sound I could and also modern flexibility to use with my TV and streaming from other devices. After looking at a lot of options, including high end streaming amps and smart speakers that all didn’t seem good enough for the price they were asking for, I came across the Fosi T-20 which seemed too good to be true but I took the risk and haven’t been happier since. I’m getting better sound than most the other options I looked at for a fraction of the price and I even have a cool hybrid tube amp that fulfills the desire I’ve also always had for tube equipment. When hooking up this amp for the fist time, I tested it with all the extra speakers I had to see which ones matched for the best sound but being impatient with having to switch wiring every time, I didn’t do more than one quick listen with each one to decide and left it at that. Since then, I’ve felt I could improve my sound systems everywhere with Fosi equipment so I’ve been checking them out and mainly focusing on their amplifiers until I heard about their new DAC that just came out and then read the features of the LC30 when I was browsing their products. I could use it to give my speakers a true A-B test and add a cool meter to my T-20 at the same time!First thing I noticed when I got the LC30 was the quality, protective packaging to make sure the item inside was unharmed from shipping. The item itself is very cleanly designed and feels solid. Setup and operation is simple and straightforward and it’s nice they used all the buttons on the kind of generic remote to give you different ways to change the settings. I don’t have a tool to test how accurate the meters are but they seem to work fine and let’s face it, it’s just fun to watch the lit up meters dance while your system is playing. For those who have the tools or desire, it’s very easy to dial in the sensitivity of the meters although I don’t think you can set it for two different amps at the same time since there is only one analog dial but that hasn’t come into play for me yet as I’m only using it for one amp at the moment. Switching speakers is seamless with no pop, click or anything else jarring. It just switches flawlessly between my two setups and I can finally give them a true comparison which has already been a very revealing experience for me. I did notice that overall output is decreased slightly with the LC30 between the amp and speakers but that was to be expected and I never listen at full volume anyways so there is still plenty of headroom to work with. Overall, the LC30 is a great addition and tool for me to finally have again as I almost forgot how invaluable it is to be able to switch equipment on the fly. Right now, I have my two top contending speakers set up so I can just switch whenever I have a feel for hearing their different signatures or when one is better suited for the content I’m listening to and it’s another benefit I never gave much thought to having in my audio systems. Highly recommend and I look forward to adding more Fosi products to my systems!
5.0 out of 5 stars Wanted an Amplifier and Speaker switch!
Wanted an amplifier and speaker switch to run two audio systems. The meters were secondary. Well made and sturdy. I seems to be inaudible and invisible when being used and that’s exactly what I wanted. Very simple to set up and absolutely no problems. Like the meter’s light in a dim room. Imparts no distortion or noise.
5.0 out of 5 stars Plenty of sensitivity - Nice build
The media could not be loaded. 11/17/24 The Fosi LC30 works great for my system. I bought it to split two amps into one set of speakers. (Pioneer Elite A20; Onkyo NR6100; Klipsch Forte II) The buttons, binding posts, etc. are well built. The meters have plenty of movement and dial sensitivity to spare; even at moderate listening levels (60-65dB). Only negative I have is that the two background plates with the printed scale for the meters, have a very slight difference in the beige color. Remote works well. Overall an excellent unit.
4.0 out of 5 stars A Nice Addition for Equipment Testers and Analog VU Meter lovers
The FOSI LC30 has excellent build quality that will look great in practically any system configuration from mid-fi and up. The remote comes in very handy when sitting in your listening spot if not near-field; especially as the print on the front of the unit is smallish and muted (likely on purpose). The VU meters have their own sensitivity setting which is a plus for protecting them (as appropriately stated in the manual) but I wish the sensitivity would automatically adjust with the volume setting on each amplifier. Connectivity is straight-forward if you don't cross the any of the positive and negative speaker wires. Use clearly identifiable speaker wire, I did not and one of my amp kept going into overload until I fixed the wiring. The manual is good but brief and could benefit from more information; such as making sure wire polarization is connected correctly for best sound and performance. The adjustable brightness on the VU meters is a very desirable feature for night listening vs in broad daylight, or somewhere in between! My unit came with a USB C cable but no 5v adapter so I used the one from my phone; the adapter should be included. Overall, I really like the LC30 as I have multiple sets of speakers and amps and this really facilitates comparison tests. My biggest recommendation for a future version would be the addition of a source input if possible. That way two amps could be compared via the same input source without adding another variable. I'm enjoying the LC30 very much.
5.0 out of 5 stars Not just a pretty box and display - very useful
I originally bought this as a throwback to 1970's receivers which had vu meters, and to a gizmo I used to have from Radio Shack back in the day, and this unit does all that extremely well. It is nice to have a visual for volume and signal strength again. The knob on the front can change the sensitivity when listening to loud or soft music, and the brightness can be adjusted. My main amp is a Fosi BT 30 Pro main and subwoofer amp, and this unit works well with that setup. The Fosi amp does not have a tuner, and with the Selector, I am able to instantly switch to a 1980's vintage Yamaha receiver to drive my two main speakers when listening to FM radio and my CD player.Another benefit of the Selector is to test the subwoofer output when using the Fosi amp. By de-selecting the main speakers (I do not have any B speakers connected to the Selector), I can hear just the subwoofers since they are NOT connected to the Selector. This lets me fine tune the SW settings on the Fosi amp, and to make sure there are not any driver issues. Earlier, I had to repair a woofer cone due to some age-related foam surround deterioration, and the Selector lets me make sure all the subwoofer cones and wiring are performing properly.
5.0 out of 5 stars Very Cool!
I don’t have two amps or sets of speakers to switch between. I purchased simply for the aesthetics and coolness factor. Having said that, this is a very solid and capable and clean signaled unit. Great quality build, fit and finish it top notch.
nice amplifier and speaker switcher
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I have two amplifier and 2 set of speaker. Just plug into this switcher, it us convenience to switch amplifier and speaker. Now I don't need to put out and put in those cable.
Qualité
Très belle qualité, c’est exactement ce que je cherchais.
Original i practic
Amb un look clàssic pots veure l’entrega de potència amb el plus de poder comprar entre un parell d’amplificadors i o un parell de caixes
Adds two cool VU meters to your amp output
This is a cool gadget to have if you want a pair of VU meters for you amp. Goes well with a good Single Malt when listening to Music. In the off position, AMP B is connected to Speaker B. So You can use this unpowered too (ofcourse VU meters will not work and remote control will not work). The box is well constructed. It comes with a remote control to switch to one of two amps or switch to 1 of 2 speakers. It needs to be powered by any 5 volts power supply using a USB-C cable
