5.0 out of 5 stars Great Receiver ARV-5670H
This receiver is replacing my 15 year old Pioneer surround sound receiver. This is a game changer, the sound is great. It has also unleashed the ability of our new TV. The old pioneer was just outdated.I bought this from Bolo as used for $319.I believe it had never even opened. Brand new in the box and everything was there
4.0 out of 5 stars Denon AVR-S670H is a seamless blend of power, precision, and technology.
The Denon AVR-S670H has been a solid upgrade for my home setup. It’s got great sound, and for the most part, it’s been easy to use. After spending some time with it, though, there are a few things that could definitely be better.Setting it up was pretty simple. The on-screen guide helps, and it didn’t take long to get everything connected. Streaming music has been a breeze, especially with Spotify and TIDAL. It also works well with our Google Home system, so I can adjust the volume or switch inputs with voice commands, which is convenient. One thing I like is the customization options. You can rename inputs and adjust speaker settings pretty easily. It gives you control over how things are set up, and that’s a nice bonus. But, there are a few downsides. To get the most out of the receiver, you have to connect it to your TV through an ARC (Audio Return Channel) setup. If your TV is older and doesn’t have ARC, you’re going to lose out on some features, like running your TV’s audio through the receiver. It’s a bit annoying if you’re not ready to replace your TV.Another issue is that everything has to be done through the remote and the TV screen. Want to adjust the equalizer or set radio presets? You’ll need the remote and TV for that. There’s no option to do these things directly on the receiver, which is inconvenient for quick changes. There’s also a pretty limited number of outputs. You’ve got an HDMI output for your TV and one RCA output, but that’s it. If you’re looking to connect other devices, you might be out of luck. One thing that’s been especially frustrating: I haven’t found a way to play audio from the receiver over my Google Home speakers. I’d love to listen to a vinyl record and have it play throughout the house, but so far, I haven’t been able to make that work. It’s a bit of a letdown if you’re hoping for whole-home audio.Overall, the Denon AVR-S670H sounds great and works well for streaming music and movies. It’s been reliable, but if you’ve got an older TV or want more flexibility with controls and outputs, you might run into a few headaches.
5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!
This receiver is very easy to set-up and the sound is great. Also easy to hook to TV ARC HDMI for one remote control of both units. The only thing I would add is an IR control out (the earlier Denon series had that).
5.0 out of 5 stars Solid device
Bought this for my Sony Bravia X95J as we bought a new house and had included a 5 speaker system in the ceiling. Bought the 5.2 as I ended up having a sound at and sub currently with my TV from our old house.. which I realized later that maybe I should've gotten a 7.2 or even higher for future proofing.. but, I'm happy with the setup, sound is great, and works with the TV, wall setup, and PS5 seemlessly. I'm sure there is a ton more I need to discover with this device.. but truthfully.. I just had geek squad install it for me.. I was loosing more copper wire than saving it when trying to strip the wire myself. You definitely need some banana cables when you get this, so definitely go with the recommendation to bundle when purchasing. I didn't and ended up over spending at best buy.
1.0 out of 5 stars Bluetooth Nightmares
Purchased to replace aging Yamaha. When first ran it, setup was a breeze. eARC worked perfectly. The sound coming out of my Miller/Kreisels was magnificent. And the Bluetooth SUCKs. It will connect. Not connect. I have been fighting this for a month. Purchased 3 BT headphones to see if that was the issue. Nawp. Confirmed after MUCH testing and MUCH burned time, it is the unit. Countless Factory resets to get it working again.Yes, am well aware of the HEOS function. That if HEOS is selected, BT will not work. One of the problems is this is NOT clear. There is no clear function to reset BT, get it off of HEOS, clear the memory, whatever. Once it gets locked up, it is locked up. And no amount of fussing short of Factory Reset will solve it. Which I have had to do about every 4 days.Am returning. I can’t keep fighting this. And Denon support… forget it. If I had even an inkling that they KNEW this was a problem and that they were working on the problem and would be releasing software updates, I’d be down with it. But forget it.Returning...
5.0 out of 5 stars Nice set of features, fully capable and modern
Need a receiver to drive out audio systems, this combined with Sonos enables unlimited access to streaming platforms and every song on my phone. Sound quality is excellent, performs well.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good Reciever
I have waited a while to write this review. It sounds good not great. The sound clarity just isn't there. And the biggest problem is the volume control on the remote. If it's too low and you turn it up it takes multiple presses on the button to get there. Or if you hold it that millisecond too long, it blast way too loud.
3.0 out of 5 stars Good for digital, Bad for Record Players
Purchased the Receiver to play physical media (LPs and CDs) and of course digital music. Haven't bought the CD player yet, but it works fantastic with digital channels, and Bluetooth. Sound is limited for the record player. Volume starts at 50 and tops off at 80. Called Denon, and this seems to be built into the firmware and unchangeable. Not sure why the volume setting can't go up to 100 like it can for digital. Not that I am blasting music, but the volume difference is noted enough for me to knock down the rating to 3 stars. Just getting into a receiver and passive speaker system. Hope I have no problems when the CD player comes along.
Very happy with it
Easy to install. Ready wall through set up. Happy with the sound quality.
Good reciever
Good reciever but wish it had more instructions not sure on how to program some buttons on the remote
Clean crisp sound.
Denon is a good brand. Works very well with my 150 watt sony tower speakers.
Great budget receiver
I bought this to (finally) replace my ancient Yamaha RX-V1200. My setup is a bit unusual: my PC is almost in my living room, so I ran an HDMI cable to enjoy PC games on the TV. I run my games at 1440p120 (w/ VRR) because it looks appreciably better on my TV than 1080p, but avoids the heavier compute burden of native 4K rendering. It's a nice middle ground, and a very popular resolution on modern PCs. Unfortunately in the world of home theater, 1440p isn't really "a thing" and when I tried to run the HDMI cable from my PC to the new receiver (instead of directly into the TV as before), I couldn't get 1440p120 to work. I retreated to the old setup, where the HDMI cable circumvents the receiver & goes directly to the TV, but eARC has improved this setup now. Since my TV and the S670H both support eARC, I have the TV forward HDMI audio to the receiver and it works like a dream. No more need for the optical audio cables, and now the PC can send 6-channel PCM (e.g. for games) or DTS or whatever else the receiver understands. There was one snag in doing this setup, but it wasn't bad at all thanks to a wonderful program called "CRU" (Custom Resolution Utility) by ToastyX. Here's the problem: when you connect your PC directly to a TV w/ HDMI, and then configure the sound device for that HDMI connection, you'll find it only allows stereo and a limited set of codecs (reflecting the TV's own capabilities). Since audio signals go straight through the TV to the receiver, I need the audio capabilities and speaker config for the HDMI connection to the TV to reflect what the AVR is capable of, and with CRU I could add the needed data for audio without disturbing display-related data (supported resolutions, VRR support, etc.).Aside from all the fun involved in my unusual setup here, I think it's a great budget receiver. The S670H may not be a good choice for a larger living room but it's perfect for mine. I'm also not planning to add more speakers beyond my simple 5.1 setup, so I decided to spend less. If anything a 2nd subwoofer might be fun, and that's supported here. The S670H isn't very powerful and doesn't have advanced features, but it does everything I need it to do, and I recommend it for smaller-sized living rooms like mine.
Great sound
No problem with this unit
