5.0 out of 5 stars Replaced JBL MA310
I originally bought a JBL MA310 which has similar features as this receiver. But JBL oversimplified theirs, so I sent it back. The Onkyo sounds a little better to my ears, it even adds a tuner and Dolby Atmos. I'm running it in 3.1 which I prefer for movies. And using it as a 2.1 stereo amp sounds great for music. I added a phono preamp so I could play my vinyl collection. This would be hard to beat for the money...
5.0 out of 5 stars AMP
My Amp died, so I replaced it with the one I ordered. Worked out very well.
5.0 out of 5 stars It's Onkyo!
I like that this receiver is not at all complicated. Great for small apartment and all connections and setup prompts went smoothly. It was in use in less than a half hour.
4.0 out of 5 stars Works with older FireTV 4K!
The media could not be loaded. From the start, the installation of the 5.1 surround was standard. Bring all the speaker wires to the back of the AV Receiver ensuring that the correct polarity are matched. Plug in your powered subwoofer via standard RCA style plug. Then hook up the AM and FM antennas. I utilized a XBOX Series X UHD HDMI cable as it was the best I had. I collaborated the speakers. *I had to do it twice as it didn't detect my Klipsch 10" Subwoofer. *I had to increase the gain and change to 180 hertz. Next, was to set up my Bolo Fire TV 4K Max. This is where I had trouble. I kept getting the error message saying that my TV wasn't a HDCP 2.2 capable TV. My Samsung 55" 4K Curved TV wasn't capable? (I read that you can bypass this error message by purchasing a HDMI spliter) But, isn't that the purpose of an AV Receiver? OK, so instead of using the Receiver for video I decided to just use for the 5.1 surround Audio. This is where I came to the next issue. With the Fire TV 4K Max plugged into my TV's HDMI port and my fiber optic cable from the TV to the Onkyo receiver, I have to be honest here, the sound was amazing! I selected a played a loud trailer from one of the popular 4K streaming services . The sound was rich with great highs and lows. However, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max device management for receiver tried all 8 or 8 options to control the sound of the Onkyo . No dice. Now I will have to train the family to reach or "search" for the additional receiver remote just to mute or change the volume. Another thing to note, is if you would like to update the firmware (perhaps an update to allow my TV or the Fire TV Stick to control the volumn? Well, you would need to download rhe update to an USB thumbdrive and apply the update manually, not via an automatic app connection via a wireless or ethernet connection to the internet. All-in-all great sound! If that is what you are looking for, buy it! If you own a non HDCP TV or wish to utilize your Fire TV Stick to control the audio, pass. Update: now works with FireTV 4K Max for remote control! Thanks team!
1.0 out of 5 stars Already Malfunctioning!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hifi has changed a lot in 50 years- and for the better!
Just starting to get my feet wet, but so far I am extremely happy with this purchase. I wish they came with a thick instruction manual like in the old days, but for the price I am not complaining. I will have to go online and watch some videos or download the manual sometime. I am also going to need to upgrade the speakers but that can wait for a while. Great performance for the price.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great receiver but limitations for Atmos
My theater room is configured as a 5.1.4 currently and wanted to try out this receiver in comparison to my other Onkyo 9.2 that I've had for years now.First off, the setup is quite easy and provides great on-screen menus to make the adjustments as needed! I ran the mic auto-calibration and worked really well to balance the speakers. Unfortunately, I was a bit perplexed that my Klipsch speakers didn't have a profile in the built-in list. I run Klipsch RF-82 II's fronts/center and my Klipsch RB-61 II surrounds. I had to run the speaker profile configuration as "other" unfortunately. After running several A/B tests running between 5.1 and 3.1.2, I was pleased to hear well balanced sound without clipping/distortion at higher levels. The remote control is easy to use and provides the on-screen menu helps with the quick-change of modes but unfortunately no network/wifi support so you cannot control via an app.I'm now running this receiver on my main basement TV as my HDMI signal is synced across my TV's. One really nice feature of the receiver is the ability to adjust the "AV Sync" so that I could get the audio perfectly synchronized across the two TV's and theater room!As far as Atmos goes, you would need to unfortunately sacrifice your surround rears to support two height Atmos speakers. This is my real limitation with this being marketed as Atmos as you really want at least a 7.1 receiver capable of at least 5.1.2 configurations (5 = Front/Left/Center and Surround/Back rears) 1=Subwoofer- 2=Two ceiling height Atmos speakers. So that being said, if you're in this for Atmos I would upgrade to a different model. For what this receiver is and does - it is great! It provides punchy sound, runs cool and isn't overworked on loud action movies driving large speakers!
