Ordered through Bolo 1-12-2024, received 1-16-2024. Handling and shipping were surprisingly expeditious. Couldn't wait to open the exceedingly well packaged boxes, yes there were three. We carefully examined each piece, which frankly was a waste of valuable time - as each piece was perfect, and weighted. The board is cleverly integrated with storage and very convenient. The fit and finish resembles that of fine furniture - we love that too. If you are considering purchasing a chess set for yourself or as a gift - this is sure to please.

Great board and pieces. Shipper please take better care of packing pieces INSIDE foam inserts so that they can't move around and scuff each other during shipping.

The media could not be loaded. First off let me say everything looks beautiful and well-made. However, my king is damaged due to either poor handling by the mail, service or backpacking by company. When you receive your product you get a warranty card advising you if there’s any issues you can give them a call or email them. They will replace it for free. I have done both and have not yet received a response. The phone number listed seems a little fishy to me. All I want is for my piece to be replaced. I will send an update of this review in another week.Update: 01/25/2024The phone number they put on their warranty card did not work however after a day they answered my email.They corrected my problem and I am happy. So I change my rating from a 3 star to 4 star.

I love this chess set. It’s well-made and classy looking. I love the look of the metal pieces against the wooden chessboard. It has convenient drawers for storing the chess pieces. This is nice enough to keep on display in the rec room or den.

This is a beautifully crafted chess set that is almost worthy of passing on to later generations as a family heirloom. It’s hard to properly appreciate how amazing this looks through a few photographs. But it’s got amazing woodwork, very classy finishing, and well-weighted pieces (with felt feet). It’s also pretty heavy so it feels solid (or at least well-created).There is a nice drawer on each side where pieces can be stored between uses by placing them in individually molded slots for each piece. However, we think it looks so nice that we decided to display it on top of our game cabinet as a centerpiece. It gives a lot of class and aesthetics and looks amazing.We had several sets of “traditional” chess sets that are plastic, wood, etc and didn’t need “another” set. But we gifted this to my chess-enthusiast son as Christmas (with no warning) and he was shocked when he saw it. It’s also much larger than a traditional chess set (20” x 20” x 3 1/2”) and just feels very regal. We are extremely pleased with this extra set and it has become the primary set that my son likes to use. You will be more than happy with your purchase if you choose to purchase this set.

I've been looking forward to writing this since the board arrived. This is a beautiful chess set. Amerous spent everything they needed to to produce a top-tier board and then charged accordingly. Yes, this board is worth every penny of their asking price and here is why:Amerous makes chess and other game boards and pieces. This is their new flagship offering. It is better quality and more elegant than everything else in their lineup. As such, they put every bit of care into its design and manufacturing.The inlaid details are beautifully executed. The woodworking is really well done and the craftsmanship is impeccable. The entire board is covered with a high-sheen clear gloss finish that feels somewhere between plastic and glass. I've cleaned it with a damp microfiber towel because it is so polished every bit of dust or crud shows up. This is a point of bragging rather than a complaint. Any product that is so elegant that dust detracts must be impressive. The board is generously sized once you account for the border and depth of the box. It is near regulation size or a bit larger. It is about 4" deep which allows for the drawers on each side. The drawers contain the pieces.Amerous included some invisible details that few will ever notice. Details like this are a massive indicator of workmanship and design. The best example is inside the drawer slots. If you take the drawers out and feel the bottom where the drawers rest, the back half is textured which keeps the drawers from sliding too easily. Once the drawer is halfway out and the weight pulls the drawer slightly down, the drawer lifts from the texture and slides very easily. Is this essential? Absolutely not but it is an indicator of the thought that went into this. The bottom of the board is covered with thin felt to keep it from scratching a table or to keep the table from scratching the board. The drawer pulls are quality pulls which also spared no expense in materials, weight, or finish. The board is beautiful.The pieces are very good. The king is 4 5/8" tall. The pieces are cast metal with an anodized finish, one in silver and one in matte black. They are pleasantly weighted though some are nearly top heavy resulting in more accidental tips than shorter pieces with weighted bottoms. The weight of these pieces makes them feel substantial. There is nothing cheap about these. The designs are classic with just enough modern flare that it is easy to always know which piece is which. Each piece has a felt bottom for easy sliding across the board. They feel very good to play with.The drawers have cutout foam slots for each piece and a foam covering to keep the pieces in place during transit. The board itself comes in a very nice durable box with foam on all sides and the top and bottom. I can store this short or long term. This is the kind of box that's worth keeping for when it may be time to store the board. This box comes securely protected inside another cardboard box so it arrives in pristine condition. They really put a lot of work into each detail of the whole experience.The end result of receiving this beautiful work of art is that my daughter (29) and I have played a lot more chess together recently. It's been a pleasure watching her come back to the game after many years off. If you are in a position to spend this much on a chess set for yourself or as a gift, you will be very satisfied and having this board in your home will inspire you to play more chess.

I got this and wanted to gift it to a very special person who loves chess. I did that on her birthday and unfortunately instead of getting a wow what an amazing gift set you gave, she said it was missing all the chess pieces. It became more of a horrible gifting Experience. Very bad Quality Packing. I would say Look Elsewhere!

We are extremely impressed with the size and quality of this chess board set. It has been a long time since we have played the game, but this set makes us want to invite friends over just to get more competitive with the sport. The carrying case will also allow us to take this set to church and compete with our friends there for hours of fun.
