5.0 out of 5 stars They work well
This is the second set I bought, now I have four, because the rats around here are crazy. This is a pretty easy way to get them, not any mess from those kill traps, and no poison because of pets , once you trap one, easy to put in a 5 gallon bucket with water and wait a few minutes, and then toss them wherever you want. I usually just put a little bit of dog food in there to attract them. Best to not set the Trap and set it on something other than dirt or Rock or what have you, because they could tear up any grass or fake grass or carpet Style outdoor comforts.
5.0 out of 5 stars Worked like a charm
Easy to set up. Worked perfectly. Caught a rat that had slipped into my home. Would recommend.
4.0 out of 5 stars It’s works very well but not very strong
It definitely works well but it’s not very strong as materials go. If you catch a determined rodent it can eat it way out.
2.0 out of 5 stars Traps are small, wire mesh is light gauge and too fine
These traps are roughly 4-1/2 x 5-1/2 x 10-1/2 inches in size. They’re a little too small, a little too flimsy, and not really up to the rigors of trapping our woodland rats. However, I cannot find any on here that are any better, they all appear identical to this. My last one came from a farm store and the next ones will probably have to as well. The wire mesh is finer than my previous one which makes it flimsier and much harder to fire a pellet gun through. I live in deep forest and mice/rats are a big problem, it’s a real battle to keep them down and sturdy cage traps are a necessity. I’m not about to release any that I manage to catch. The only cage bait that works for me is a few of those green rat-poison pellets. They aren’t very poisonous and my rats use them for nesting material but they must smell delicious because they really bring rats in for the trap to catch. Unfortunately bears think it smells delicious too, my old trap is a crushed and tangled wreck. The treadle is spring loaded and that makes resetting the trap very easy. This was a weakness of the older unit that these are replacing after a bear got them. It was difficult to arm and set the trap because even slight jostling would trip it. On one occasion this one tripped and the bar flopped back down in time to be recaptured by the loop. It doesn’t just fall out and that’s because the treadle is spring loaded. I prefer larger diameter wire mesh strands with a bigger mesh gap. My old one was bent in several places from pellet strikes and I expect this one will be worse.
5.0 out of 5 stars REALLY WORKS!!!
I received these (4pack) about a week ago. I have a rat colony under my chicken coop that is causing some severe damage to my shed. These traps were catching and containing the rats no problem. Just a squeeze of peanut butter and boom, caught left and right. Highly recommend for rats for sure. I wish I had purchased these much earlier. Also, extremely and quick to easy to set up
3.0 out of 5 stars Works well but they broke right away
This product works. The first one broke after one catch and the second one broke after catching 3 squirrels.I wish this product lasted longer.
5.0 out of 5 stars Best for Larger Rodents, and Squirrels!
They have not trapped many chipmunks, but have worked incidentally on squirrels. Safely relocated. The thicker end door and rear door keep animals from eating through the wire, as they seems to try to go for the door where they came in.
4.0 out of 5 stars A bit flimsy but does work.
We’ve caught several pesky chipmunks (and repaired crawl space door to keep them from re-entering ). The trap is flimsy, and one was broken by a squirrel. It’s fairly easy to assemble and set. If you are after anything much larger than a chipmunk, you will need a larger and more sturdy trap.
