The VILTROX DC-550 Pro is a solid choice for monitoring your camera shots. The 5.5-inch 4K display is sharp and bright, even in sunny conditions thanks to the included sunshade hood. The 1200 nits brightness and 160° wide view angle make it easy to see your footage from different angles. It was uncommon I could not see the screen during the day, especially with the hood (score!).The touchscreen is handy for quick adjustments, and the 3D LUT and peaking focus assist are good, not great, for getting accurate colors and focus - for the price point, pretty impressive honestly. It has both DC 12V and Type-C 5V inputs, which is super flexible for powering up.Pros: • Bright and clear 4K display • Handy touchscreen • Sunshade included • Wide viewing angle • Good focus assist featuresCons: • Touchscreen can be a bit too sensitive • A bit bulky for some setupsOverall, it’s a reliable monitor that’s packed with features, making it a good pick for both bright and dim shooting conditions.I hope you enjoyed this review!

The screen is a perfect size for handheld filming in multiple lighting conditions. Touch screen controls and side scrolling knob make navigation through setting easy. Comes with most everything you need except micro HDMI to HDMI cable. I’d recommend purchasing the larger battery pack as well. It has multiple functions you’d expect like luma and gamma viewing, zebra and red light options as well as loadable luts. Great price, light enough to carry around all day without feeling cheap and easy to break. Would definitely recommend.

I use this item with a 10yr old Nikon DSLR that doesn’t have a floppy screen. I shoot only stills (no video) and have had a few assignments using this- and it greatly aids composition and focusing.Not good: the cold shoe pivoting bracket provided- mine was completely frozen- and BARELY moved at all- even with the provided hex wrench. I replaced mine immediately with a Neewer product that WORKS much better. Also- HDMI cable provided comes out of camera Straight- interfering with clearances on camera left. Also- I replaced this with a 90 degree cable, 12” COILED cable.

I had to get a replacement external monitor and I am not disappointed. This works great, easy to setup, connects quickly, and best of all the batteries from the other monitor works with this so I don't need to buy additional batteries. The Jupio NP-F970 Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (7.2V, 7400mAh) fits this and is an extended life battery. The battery that comes with the monitor is just okay. I like that it comes with a battery and a very well built storage case.I had zero problems getting this connected to my Canon T7i and set up was easy. I record worship service for posting online and needed an external monitor and this fit the bill perfectly. Picture quality is great. Recommend if you are looking for an external monitor that won't break the bank and comes with everything you need including a battery.

UPDATE: 2* --> 5* - Soon after my initial review, I was contacted by a Viltrox representative who worked with me to get a patch installed on my monitor to fix the 4k signal cut-out issue I was experiencing. The patch fixed the problem and the monitor now holds the signal perfectly. I assume/hope that they incorporate this patch into a new firmware release for anyone else who experiences this issue. Really enjoying this monitor now, excellent performance for the price.One issue I just ran into is that the HDMI IN port is too close to the bottom screw mount. This limits the types of monitor mounts you can use to more narrow ones as anything more than 4mm wider than the included mount will hit the HDMI cable. They should definitely find a way to move the ports over, or relocate them to avoid having an issue with mounting options.Original review: Overall everything is great. A minor annoyance is the screen showing the signal clipping to white a bit before it actually clips on the camera monitor, but for the price, it is a non-issue. But the deal breaker is that the signal will drop out once per minute and cycle through inputs before reconnecting at 4k when fed a 4k signal (Im using a Fuji xh2s). It seems the latest firmware (50TW.1.0.23.6.3) has a bug which has been reported to Viltrox. Waiting for a response after sending them a video of the bug occurring.

Capable little monitor with everything you need to get started (for the most part) in the box.Brightness and sharpness look great and it really helps when capturing video. The screen shade included is a great design and I’ve never taken it off.Note: if your camera only has micro-HDMI you’ll need to buy a separate cable! This kit only includes full sized and mini-HDMI.
1.0 out of 5 stars BROKEN WITHIN 40 DAYS! DO NOT BUY
So I ordered this monitor because I wanted an inexpensive replacement for a shoot and this actually looked like on I really liked. I ordered it and it came in fast and I was really impressed with the build quality. Even the battery was a higher quality battery. I loved everything about this purchase. I adjusted the colors on the monitor to match what I had on my camera, properly stored it in camera case and went to my first shoot with it a few days later. I was so shocked and upset when the monitor decided not to connect to my camera…AT ALL. On the day of my shoot! This monitor looks good, feels good, build quality seems good but if you’re looking for a quality DEPENDABLE monitor, this isn’t the one. And I’m literally just out of my 30 days so I’m stuck with a broken monitor. Literally wasted my money trusting this. DO NOT!!!

This monitor had everything I needed, Histogram, Markers, Luts & false color.But, I couldn’t deal with how laggy it was. Video does not show up in real time. It would lag noticeably. I couldn’t use it while tracking a subject.

Bright screen makes outdoor shots a breeze
After integrating this field monitor into my photography setup, I find it to be a solid piece of kit with a few quirks. The standout feature is definitely the bright HD screen, which makes composing shots effortless, even on sunny days. I've been using it with my Canon R3 while shooting outdoor family events, and the image clarity is superb. The touchscreen responds smoothly, enhancing the overall experience.However, the build quality leaves a bit to be desired. The cold shoe pivoting bracket provided was quite stiff, so I had to replace it with a more flexible one. Also, it would have been helpful if a standard HDMI to HDMI cable were included – acquiring an appropriate cable separately was a slight nuisance. Despite these minor drawbacks, the vast array of monitoring tools like focus peaking and false colour are invaluable, significantly improving my workflow. In the end, it's a worthwhile investment for serious photographers looking to elevate their craft.
