5.0 out of 5 stars Got a great deal on this!
I needed to upgrade to a more modern receiver and I got this as a Bolo day deal, and with an extra discount for signing up for an Bolo CC. For what I ended up paying, it is an excellent receiver for the money. Sounds great and has modern features my vintage receiver lacked!
5.0 out of 5 stars All I can say is wow.
The media could not be loaded. This unit did not disappoint , I have had 4 Yamaha receivers for the past 20 years and this Denon sounds better then all of them. The past two units I had did not last more then 5 years the last one just died. The one before had HDMI’s stopped working. The one before that had hdmi issues too. Well the switch to Denon ! this unit is better, with the factory 3 years they give you they must have faith in this unit. Most others only give a year. Anyway this unit does everything I need and works perfectly with my XBox X , Atmos works perfect. The ability to adjust all the sound variables is amazing, even FM radio sounds great. And at the time of review its$599.00 worth every penny.
1.0 out of 5 stars Two defective units in a row
I ordered an AVR-X1800H because Wirecutter recommended it and is always so thorough, especially on electronics. The first one arrived defective. It failed on the basic task of switching to the input I selected. Kept switching back to hdmi1, whether I used the input dial, the remote, or the app. Like it had a mind of its own. I engaged with Denon support. Even when we eliminated hdmi-cec devices like my Apple TV 4K, and removed any remotes that may send commands from the room. They advised I exchange with Bolo. Ok, no problem. A lemon could happen from time to time. The second unit was worse! During speaker setup I could only hear choppy broken sound from the speakers. Switching back to my old Yamaha receiver proved my speakers and wires were not the cause; everything worked flawless. I called Denon support again. They weren’t aware of any broader quality issues with the product and were not willing to offer me any alternatives to reset the very bad first and second impression I had with their brand.I have to wonder what went wrong with the review process. The setup wizard is nice, but after you run through that you never touch it again. I also have to say I found the app to be very buggy, unresponsive, and poorly laid out. The audio quality was fine on the first unit for the one input I could actually use, but not much better than my 9 year old Yamaha. It’s causing me to reconsider the integrity of wirecutter reviews actually. The fact that all the products recommended are all Denon, and my experience with Denon was so poor, it seems off.
5.0 out of 5 stars Denon AVR-X1800H 7.2 channel receiver
A full featured, excellent performing avr with more than adequate power for my medium sized space. Good value. Purchased via Bolo warehouse.Using it as the centre of a Def Tech 5.1 ProCinema 800 series and a 65in Hisense U8N tv.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good receiver, with some caveats.
I bought the X1800h to replace my old Sony STR-DH790 that I've been using and been happy with since 2018. The Sony sounded great, but was not energy star compliant (50w power draw idle, even when "off") and the video inputs were falling behind and causing me HDCP issues. The Denon X1800h was a solid purchase. Video has been great, e-ARC passthrough works perfectly, and my TV even detects receiver input changes and switches video modes between standard/game mode/etc. automatically, which the Sony didn't do. The UI is good, but setup was kind of a pain and there's a lot of submenus to dig through.Despite the hype around the Audyssey XT sound correction, in the end to get good sound out of it, I had to just turn off all the features, buy the mobile app for another $20 to disable the mid-range dip, and then manually tune each channel, which defeats the purpose of having built-in room correction. And even after all that, I think I was still happier with the Sony's sound overall. This is a really good AV receiver, and the video/gaming passthrough and features are top notch, but it leaves a bit to be desired in the sound department unless you're willing to really dig into the settings and manually adjust over days.I also like that you can set volume control to decibel levels instead of generic numbers. Though in actually adjusting volume, the remote is a mess, and tapping volume up or down a few times makes it jump by many steps, and fine adjustment is slow or awkward.I'll miss the Sony, but time marches on. Also, I won't miss the power draw. This one only pulls 2 watts when off, which saves a ton on electric over time (literally almost 1.2 kilowatts daily).
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for small home theater applications
The AVR-X1800H brought my small home theater system to life. It's perfect for Dolby Atmos. Installation and set up were super easy. The audyssey set up tuned the speakers perfectly to my room. Impressive sound. It's all I need for now. I saw one review complaining about the ap. The ap works just fine for me
5.0 out of 5 stars Great receiver at a great price!
I purchased this recently on a really good sale and I'm glad I did!! This is replacing my older Denon receiver (AVR-S740H) which isn't that old and still works fine. The new Denon (X-1800H) has some newer features including 8K/4K 120Hz which made it worth the upgrade. Setup on this Denon is so much easier than the older one. I had this up and running in about 10 minutes after connecting everything. Switching and scaling seem to be working better on the new Denon as well. All I need to do now is to run the calibration and my office 5.1.2 atmos sytem will be ready to rock!
5.0 out of 5 stars The Best AVR
This is the best AVR I've ever had, great sound, and you can connect anything you want, simply the best
Excelente
Chegou antes do prazo , venddor nota 10...esse sistema Denon japones é muito bom
Great receiver.
Upgraded from my old Denon which I loved but was not 4k. Put this receiver into use and there was no comparison. Sound was much more full and sound stage improved. Heos works great and a phono stage as well. Very worth the money. Complexity in sound quality but simple in use. Love it.
Best in class av receiver
This is my childhood dream to have this kind of av receiver which I was able to purchase happy with the product performance and the features it has and it's recommended for huge hall homes with sound proofing
Gran potencia y claridad
